  • ScaleOut Software Announces Geospatial Mapping for its ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service™

Users can bring analytics to life with visualizations that provide richer dynamic context and situational awareness

BELLEVUE, Wash – April 27, 2021 – ScaleOut Software today released new visualization capabilities for its Azure hosted ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service™ and companion, on-premises streaming analytics platform. This innovative streaming analytics approach enables organizations to separately process and analyze incoming streaming data from thousands of data sources and to gain immediate insights that previously required offline batch processing to uncover. With the addition of geospatial mapping for real-time continuous queries, users can now visualize key analytics results with richer contextual information and boost their situational awareness of complex, dynamic systems.

Geospatial mapping of streaming analytics results brings data to life for numerous applications. For example, telematics systems can track thousands of vehicles and immediately identify on a map which vehicles need the assistance of a dispatcher based on continuous, real-time analysis of their incoming telemetry. Mapping of query results makes unusual situations, such as highway blockages or congregated drivers, immediately apparent. Security and safety applications for industrial infrastructures and smart cities benefit from this technology by enabling personnel to see curated, real-time data about multiple potential threats so that their relationships and dynamic changes can be immediately assessed.

“We are excited to add powerful new visualization features to our ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service,” said Dr. William Bain, ScaleOut Software’s CEO and founder. “Geospatial mapping helps our users fully benefit from the powerful real-time capabilities of memory-based, digital twin technology. We believe that combining digital twins with geospatial mapping creates an important breakthrough in extracting value from streaming data.”

The ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service incorporates a new software technique for implementing streaming analytics called “real-time digital twins.” This technique enables applications to analyze data in motion in milliseconds from thousands of data sources and maintain dynamic, contextual information about each data source for deep introspection. In addition, ScaleOut’s in-memory, streaming analytics platform continuously aggregates and visualizes analytics results from real-time digital twins to identify emerging trends and boost situational awareness. With the addition of geospatial mapping, aggregated analytics results can now be graphically displayed so that users can quickly assess important spatial relationships.
Benefits of Geospatial Mapping Key benefits of the product’s new geospatial mapping include:

    • Immediate Display of Analysis Results: Unlike streaming analytics platforms which analyze streaming data offline in data lakes, the ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service immediately analyzes telemetry from each data source and extracts key insights. Geospatial mapping of these results makes them instantly available for examination in a graphical form.
    • Continuous Updates: Mapped results can be continuously updated to expose dynamic changes in the results of analysis every five seconds.
    • Ease of Use with Query Specifications: Users can easily specify the analysis results to be mapped using simple query specifications. These specifications allow results to be filtered to declutter the map and highlight important data.
    • High Performance: The ScaleOut Digital Twin Streaming Service is implemented using highly scalable, in-memory computing software technology that processes incoming streaming data with high throughput and low latency. This enables streaming analytics to run in real time and to maximize situational awareness.

  • Catchpoint Announces Native Support for Google’s Core Web Vitals

Offering the most accurate, actionable and comprehensive metrics for digital experience management; improving user experience and search ranking

(New York, USA) – April 27, 2021 – Catchpoint™, the leader in Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM), today announced full support of Google’s Core Web Vitals, giving companies actionable metrics for delivering the best possible user experience on the web. Combined with Catchpoint’s superior set of digital experience metrics and expansive monitoring vantage points, support for Core Web Vitals provides IT teams with the most accurate, simple and comprehensive metrics for optimizing web performance and subsequently, search ranking.

With this new addition and the existing Core Web Vitals support in WebPageTest, Catchpoint now offers the fullest suite of Core Web Vitals insights. The full gamut of stakeholders responsible for web performance, ranging from front-end developers to cloud architects, network engineers, SREs and IT operations practitioners, can leverage Catchpoint’s platform to deliver optimal website and web application performance, delight users and drive positive business outcomes.

“Core Web Vitals will become increasingly important for anyone that is doing business over the web. Over the summer, the ‘signal’ produced by a website’s Core Web Vitals score will play a much bigger role in the Google search algorithm,” said Mehdi Daoudi, CEO of Catchpoint. “Teams can leverage a set of actionable metrics to deliver a better experience to their users while improving their business performance. It’s exciting to see that we finally have a set of metrics that will allow businesses to align IT and business performance.”

Blog: Five Reasons to Use Catchpoint for Measuring Core Web Vitals

Core Web Vitals are made up of three specific page speed and user interaction measurements: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). These metrics are a subset of factors that will be part of Google’s “page experience” score, an official Google search engine ranking factor, starting this year. This is critical for business visibility, web traffic, and, ultimately, sales.

What makes these metrics easy and actionable is the measurement of time. LCP is the time from when users click on a link to when they see the main content on-screen. Many other page speed metrics don’t represent what it’s like for a user to open up a webpage. FID is the time it takes for a user to actually interact with your page. This is critical, as it takes into account how quickly webpages can begin to respond to users. CLS is the stability of a page as it loads. Users don’t have to re-learn where links are located when the page is fully loaded.

In addition to displaying measured LCP, Total Blocking Time (TBT is the lab complement of FID), and CLS values, WebPageTest provides “Filmstrip View,” an animated preview of page loading with the option to highlight layout shifts.

“The most important aspect of our web performance monitoring program is how fast our website or application is presented to our customers,” said Robin Schenck, QA and Release Manager at Blue Nile. “Catchpoint offers us the most comprehensive set of metrics for measuring that performance and taking immediate action.”

The support for Core Web Vitals is included in Catchpoint’s Digital Experience Monitoring platform and it is available immediately.

  • Acorio Study: Digital Transformation Topples Service Management as Top Business Priority

The new executive summary from Acorio’s third annual ServiceNow Insights Survey examines the state of Digital Transformation and the lasting impact of COVID-19 on strategic technology strategy

BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–As ServiceNow establishes enterprise dominance in a bid to become the “platform of platforms”, digital transformation has overtaken service management as the top strategic priority for businesses, according to data released today by Acorio, an NTT DATA company and the largest pure-play ServiceNow consultancy. This release is the third annual ServiceNow Insight and Vision Report, and the only full-scale analysis with original data and insights on the Global ServiceNow ecosystem.

This first look Executive Summary comes from the largest global survey focused exclusively on ServiceNow and Technology Transformation. With nearly 500 responses, this year’s report is the company’s largest study conducted to date.

The Elite ServiceNow Partner’s inaugural survey took place in 2018 after recognizing the gap in existing technology and platform insights. Since then, it has published three additional surveys, including a COVID-19 impact survey and report in 2020, with subsequent reports, conference presentations, webinars, and more.

With the full 2021 ServiceNow Insight and Vision Report scheduled to be released in May, this 25-page Executive Summary shares the big picture look at Digital Transformation in modern organizations, how global challenges have dictated technology strategy when it comes to both employees and customers, and how ServiceNow is being utilized throughout the Enterprise (including challenges, results, and roadmap insights).

“I cannot think of a year that first-person data could be more important,” shares SVP of Acorio, Ellen Daley. “With a backdrop of seismic changes to all levels of business and industries – we have seen a new rise in digital transformation initiatives and interest at the executive level. We know that ServiceNow’s role in empowering that transformation is growing – and are so thrilled to share new first-person data to help address the questions we are continuously fielding surrounding return to work and the future of technology strategy.”

Digital transformation grew 20 percent year-over-year, becoming the top business initiative over Service Management. While many organizations were evolving towards transformation, the past 14 months have put the need for business digitization to a different level of strategic conversations – and one that, uniquely, cuts across all industries and company sizes as all have been impacted in a variety of ways by the Global health crisis and ensuing response.

Where before COVID-19 many enterprises were using digital to incrementally improve parts of their businesses, we now see these same traditional enterprises were forced to rethink their technology into a more wide-spread strategy and execution in order to serve the new needs of their operations, employees and customers.

    • 60 percent of organizations have been working on their digital transformation initiatives for over a year but only 14 percent are “almost complete” with their transformation.
    • 26 percent of organizations have started implementing AI and machine learning since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amidst this growth, ServiceNow has now successfully positioned itself as a necessary tool for the world’s leading companies.

This year’s survey results also reveal major platform growth amongst ServiceNow clients with 86% of companies using ServiceNow reporting implementations of two or more ServiceNow products, 63% companies reporting implementations three or more ServiceNow products, and 41% companies reporting implementations of four or more ServiceNow product in 2021. These numbers have jumped significantly from the numbers reported in Acorio’s 2019 report, 54%, 27%, and 12% respectively.

    Survey Demographics and Methodology

Acorio’s ServiceNow Insight and Vision Survey was conducted completely anonymously through an online platform, SurveyMonkey.com. We received 492 responses from individual participants, all of whom were required to provide demographic information, including company size, job role, department, company industry, and whether or not they used ServiceNow. The remaining questions pertained only to respondents who are or who have used ServiceNow (75 percent) and were not required. For more demographic and methods information, please see our complete report.

  • Nexthink Advances Digital Employee Experience Management with Deep Intelligence for Web Applications

With Nexthink’s latest innovation, end-user computing teams gain transaction-level observability and sentiment data for every web application from the employee perspective

Lausanne / Boston — April 27, 2021 – Nexthink, the leader in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) management software, today announced it is extending end-to-end experience visibility to the application transaction level with its new Application Experience capability. For the first time, IT teams can go beyond network, sentiment and basic application visibility to deeply analyze and optimize the complete digital experience. With Nexthink’s platform, IT teams can now deliver personalized experiences for every employee in the context of the applications, networks and tools they use all the time, in real-time. Nexthink’s new capability gives IT teams full span of control to ensure a seamless digital experience for employees.

“End-user computing teams are under pressure to continuously deliver great digital experiences to employees, involving hundreds or thousands of on-prem and SaaS applications on millions of different devices,” said Pedro Bados, CEO and Co-founder of Nexthink. “While DevOps in application teams or software vendors can instrument a few of these applications, IT operations teams are ultimately responsible for the delivery, support and sentiment at scale in the enterprise. This product is for them. Now IT operations can understand the experience of every employee with every application all the time.”

With the latest capability, IT teams can quickly isolate whether a poor experience with an application is being caused by the application itself or triggered by a device, network, configuration, or other resource. IT teams can minimize application deployment risks by surfacing employee concerns quickly through context-driven employee feedback. The solution also helps reduce application license costs by aligning licenses with actual employee usage. Additionally, in the case of SaaS applications, organizations can hold vendors accountable for availability guarantees through clear data that shows application downtime.

Key enhancements to the Nexthink Experience platform include:

∙ Adoption insights: Visibility into application adoption and usage to show how employee groups are experiencing applications and features at the domain, page and transaction level, enabling employee education and application workflow improvements to increase adoption and productivity.

∙ Deep insight and context-driven automation: Proactive experience improvement for application page and transaction availability and performance, with in-context remediation across the entire digital environment and workforce.

∙ Easy data exploration: Real-time, out-of-the-box filters and visualizations for application pages and transactions – providing complete visibility into the health, adoption and employee sentiment of applications. Learn more about Application Experience here

“This level of visibility into application performance and adoption from the employee’s perspective was never possible before,” said David Paul, Director IT User Experience at TRC Companies Inc. “Coupled with Nexthink’s broader experience capabilities, Application Experience is enabling our team to proactively identify and address application issues before an employee even comes to us with a problem. We’re excited to see Nexthink’s continued innovation which is helping us deliver a world-class digital experience to our entire workforce.”

A new report published by Nexthink and Pulse revealed that the vast majority of organizations (83%) are actively managing less than half of their employee-facing applications. Further, 71% of organizations are not automatically gathering employee feedback on application usage, adoption and availability which is having a major impact on digital employee experience. • Sendbird Empowers Modern App Developers to Build Engaging, Customized Chat Experiences Faster and Easier Than Ever Before

New Flutter SDK for Sendbird Chat enables cross-platform development of chat with a single codebase

Open source UIKit lets developers build elegant and customizable in-app chat

SAN MATEO, Calif. — April 22, 2021– Sendbird, the leading mobile engagement and communication company across in-app chat, voice, and video, today unveiled its latest tools for developers to bring industry-leading chat capabilities into their applications. Sendbird’s new Flutter SDK makes it easy for developers to build chat in Flutter applications. Because Flutter apps can extend across multiple platforms with a single code base, time to market to launch Sendbird Chat can be dramatically decreased. Additionally, Sendbird’s new open source version of its UIKit makes it easy to fully customize and extend the UIKit so that applications are designed with and can incorporate their own branded look and feel.

“Sendbird was founded by developers for developers so we want our technology to be as open and easy to use as possible,” said John Kim, founder and CEO of Sendbird. “Developers will grow the next generation of unicorns, and Sendbird is doing everything we can to empower them by making it very simple to integrate compelling interactive experiences into modern apps.”

The announcement of new developer tools comes on the heels of Sendbird’s recent $100 million Series C round of funding; the company seeks to help businesses in any industry, anywhere in the world to integrate chat into their applications for outstanding user engagement and better business outcomes.

Today, billions of users engage in real-time mobile conversations on a monthly basis, making it the most popular way for users to communicate. As such, brands are making the conversation with the customer the center of the mobile experience. From within a chat thread, users can authorize a replacement item from a delivery provider, cancel a ride, make a payment to a friend, or check the status of an order– but in order to do this, developers need the right tools. Sendbird now extends even more flexibility for developers to make their apps social.

Flutter SDK: Easing Burdens for Cross Platform App Developers

With the Flutter SDK for Sendbird Chat, app developers can build full-featured chat in their Flutter applications and deploy it cross-platform with a single codebase. This framework makes it possible for developers to create and integrate their in-app chat implementations only once, apply it everywhere– Android, iOS, web, and desktop– instead of requiring them to build and port it multiple times.

Without a platform like Flutter, each time a change is made to an app it must be rewritten for each platform the app supports, which demands expertise and engineering resources per platform. This can be difficult for companies with constrained engineering resources and limited in-house mobile development expertise. By removing this hurdle, Sendbird enables digital interactions to become more easily accessible and pervasive to all.

Sendbird’s Flutter SDK comes with modern messenger features that enable chat at high scale and align with Sendbird’s other client-side SDK’s, including:

    • Group Channels: Developers can build 1-to-1 or many-to-many private group chats in their app using Group Channels. Group Channels come with all the necessary messaging essential features that users have come to expect in modern messenger applications, like typing indicators, presence indicators, channel mentions, and message threading.
    • Supergroup Channels: This allows developers to build private chat channels for up to 20,000 users in a single channel, which is useful in the case of large-scale community chat.
    • Open Channels: For public chats, developers can use Open Channels to power chat with up to 60,000 users in a single channel to drive social engagement with live chat. Open Channels also come with support for Dynamic Partitioning which allows for a smoother user experience in large-scale public chats.
    • Moderation: With user and channel moderation capabilities, developers are able to allow users to ban other users, mute users, and freeze a chat channel to keep conversations safe and on brand.

Open Source UIKit: Enabling Developers the Flexibility to Customize and Extend Sendbird’s UIKit

Sendbird also shared that it will open source Sendbird UIKit, its popular chat front end tool that allows developers to add the power of a modern messenger into their applications with just a few lines of code. This is part of Sendbird’s ongoing commitment to transparency and flexibility for the developer community – those who trust and rely on Sendbird to power their mobile experiences. Sendbird UIKit now becomes extensible and more flexible, allowing developers to now more fully customize the UIKit for their use cases and tailor the look and feel of UI components. They can build extensions to the UIKit for specific requirements and integration for any vertical or workflow they can imagine.

“We know developers love to tinker,” said Kim. “Developers want to open things, take them apart, and then fit the pieces together in a way that makes sense to them. As more and more companies are adopting our UIKit rather than building a chat UI from scratch, we wanted to put more power in the hands of developers while simultaneously increasing the transparency and flexibility of our front end components.”

Whether it’s a community application building social engagement, a payments wallet powering peer-to-peer interactions, a marketplace trying to leverage chat to increase conversions, Sendbird’s new UIKit can be easily adapted for custom user experiences. Developers get both a highly configurable and extensible front end, on top of a fully managed back end, allowing them to focus on the functionality that makes them unique.

Sendbird UIKit source code is now available in Sendbird’s GitHub UIKit repository. Sendbird UIKit design resources will also be also available as a Sketch file if teams need to customize or build on top of the designs.

  • EY announces the launch of IBM TechHub@EY to strengthen capabilities in IBM hybrid cloud technologies and help accelerate client digital transformation

    • IBM TechHub@EY to drive innovation and solution development on IBM Cloud, powered by AI technology
    • Provides single point-of-contact technology support for all EY client-facing teams worldwide
    • Expands EY people’s skills and certifications in IBM technologies

EY today announces the launch of its IBM TechHub@EY, a global, decentralized network of EY practitioners dedicated to developing EY solutions and platforms supported by IBM’s open hybrid cloud platform, artificial intelligence (AI) and other transformative technologies, as well as providing technology architecture support and skills enablement across the EY organization.

IBM TechHub@EY extends the capabilities and offerings of the existing EY-IBM Alliance, serving as a single point of contact for all IBM technology-related needs across the EY network. This includes ideation, design and build of solutions; providing technical support including solution architecture reviews, proof-of-concept support and access to sandbox testing/development environments; and enablement and certification of EY services practitioners.

Domains within the IBM TechHub@EY operate within a single global framework and are staffed by EY practitioners proficient in IBM technologies, such as IBM Cloud, Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Watson and IBM AI Applications including Maximo, Sterling and TRIRIGA. As part of the global alliance, IBM Global Business Services and EY Consulting will work together to support clients in business transformation, workforce transformation, cloud strategy and AI applications.

Dan Higgins, EY Global Technology Consulting Leader, says:

“The launch of IBM TechHub@EY is a very significant milestone in the expansion of the EY global alliance with IBM. The outstanding technical support and enablement that the alliance is providing to client-serving teams is of paramount importance in bringing innovative, hybrid cloud and cognitive solutions to life. IBM TechHub@EY is integral in helping EY teams provide differentiated, competitive advantage to clients, and to work with them to build a better, more sustainable working world.”

A recent IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) study, which includes survey responses from 3,800 C-suite executives across 20 countries and 22 industries, finds that executives expect a 20% increase in the prioritization of cloud and AI technology in the next two years.[1] To better serve these client needs, the IBM TechHub@EY is equipping EY professionals with the experience required to leverage IBM’s market-leading technologies. In doing so, EY practitioners will rotate through domains to gain skills in research, development and innovation, and take advantage of mentorship, training and certification by IBM for IBM technologies. Practitioners will also be able to develop new sector and service line solutions, supported by IBM technologies.

Bob Lord, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Ecosystems and Blockchain, IBM, says:

“Supporting IBM ecosystem members like EY with technical enablement and joint innovation is crucial to the success of our customers. With IBM TechHub@EY, a greater number of EY practitioners will be trained to design, build and manage offerings built on IBM’s hybrid cloud platform with IBM Watson. This co-creation through IBM Garage is the driving force behind the expanded EY-IBM Alliance, and is helping to address the complex needs of customers at all stages of digital transformation.”
