Boston, MA – November 14, 2018 – CHAOSSEARCH, the first log search and analytics platform built for AWS S3, today announced it raised $9M in a Series A funding. The round was co-led by .406 Ventures and Glasswing Ventures, with participation from existing investor, Stage 1 Ventures. CHAOSSEARCH was founded in 2017 as Chaos Sumo with a mission to simplify data storage, management and analytics for AWS S3. The new funding will accelerate this mission and expand the company charter to enable DevOps teams to extend their log and event data retention and usage. With the addition of this funding, Graham Brooks, partner at .406 Ventures, and Rudina Seseri, founder and managing partner at Glasswing Ventures, will join the company’s Board of Directors.

“We are excited to receive support from leading investors .406 Ventures and Glasswing Ventures, both of whom bring deep domain expertise in data and cloud,” said Les Yetton, CEO and Co-Founder, CHAOSSEARCH. “We’re focusing initially on extending access to the long tail of data for ELK environments, but see a big opportunity to unlock the potential of AWS S3 as an intelligent, searchable data analytics platform.”

New Investment Reflects the Log and Event Data Opportunity on AWS S3

“CHAOSSEARCH is a potential game-changer for big data analytics, enabling unprecedented performance for log and event data access and visibility,” said Graham Brooks with .406 Ventures. “They have introduced unique capabilities to the growing global DevOps market that enable much better big data retention and management, deeper customer and application analytics, cost-effective long-term security log retention for anomaly detection, and new opportunities for companies to build unique new SaaS offerings on top of their own data.”

Rudina Seseri with Glasswing Ventures added: “CHAOSSEARCH is laying down the critical groundwork of building a solution that decouples storage from compute, reducing data size and storage costs and allowing searchability on storage services like S3. An Innovative and Cost Effective Approach to Taming Log and Event Data on AWS S3
CHAOSSEARCH is the only platform that enables DevOps teams to store, search, query and visualize terabytes of historic log data on their existing AWS S3 infrastructure, instantly reducing their data footprint and operational overhead and cutting operational costs by up to 80 percent.  Built for teams using the ELK Stack, CHAOSSEARCH extends the Elastic API onto S3, turning it into a warm ELK-compatible logging solution and opening up access to terabytes of log data with out-of-the box Kibana data visualizations.

“The Jitterbit API integration platform processes unlimited data in a linearly scalable way but the question was – how do we do the same for search?” said Betsy Bilhorn, SVP of Product for Jitterbit. “CHAOSSEARCH has proven to be easy to use and lightning fast at doing just that, all within our own S3 infrastructure. We’re very excited for the new capabilities we’ll be bringing to market powered by CHAOSSEARCH.”

“Historically, companies could not scale their log and event analytics at an effective cost, or even consider AWS S3 as the only backing store,” said Thomas Hazel, CTO and Founder, CHAOSSEARCH. “CHAOSSEARCH has solved these limitations by building a cloud first, high-performing database that enables text search and relational analytics directly on the customer’s S3 account. CHAOSSEARCH’s patent-pending Data Edge index technology changes everything.”

Key features of the CHAOSSEARCH platform include:

    • Turns AWS S3 into a easy-to-use, searchable ELK compatible logging solution – with no changes required to existing ELK compatible applications
    • Automates the discovery, organization and indexing of log and event data types and sources
    • Visualizes hot and warm log clusters from a single Kibana instance
    • Offers unlimited data retention, all securely within customer’s own AWS S3 infrastructure
    • Enables integrated text search and relational queries from a single platform
    • Empowers Machine Learning-based insights and predictive analysis with access to massive data sets over time

  • Datree launches a partnership with CircleCI

Datree, the GitOps management platform, has partnered with CircleCI, the leading automated Continuous Integration and Delivery system. As a CircleCI Technology Partner, datree has released CircleCI Orbs to help companies achieve technical excellence and improve production stability. Datree’s first CircleCI orb helps companies keep control of their package versioning, ensuring that only stable, approved software versions are pushed to production.

CircleCI automates the deployment of software, taking the code in a repository, building it, testing it and then pushing it live to a staging or production environment. CircleCI introduced Orbs to make it easy to configure the platform to work with other tools.

Datree is a centralized policy engine that works at the Git control level, automatically checking every pull request before it’s merged into production. Datree helps developers to follow best practices, preventing mistakes or misconfigurations from ever being included in a repo.

    • UI package versioning alignment, stopping discrepancies between different versions of the same package UI components across different projects.
    • Internal package versioning alignment, ensuring the same up-to-date version of an internal package is in use across different projects.
    • Open source, letting developers create a blacklist of risky versions of specific open source packages.

“CircleCI makes build, testing and deployment easy and fast,” said datree CEO Arthur Shmunk. “We’re excited to partner with CircleCI to an Orb for datree’s Git-level gatekeeper, giving developers control over their repositories and code at all stages in the Software development and deployment process”

  • Codefresh Removes Barriers to Helm Ecosystem by Launching Integration with Microsoft Azure

Codefresh exposes and makes easier what Helm is really designed for

Mountain View, CA, November 13, 2018 — Codefresh today announced integration with Microsoft Azure hosted Helm Repositories, an important step in making it incredibly efficient for teams to adopt Helm by removing the barriers to the Helm ecosystem.

As the Helm ecosystem grows, Codefresh is leading the way with Microsoft making it easier to build, test, and deploy Helm Charts with an easy-to-use Codefresh GUI, and store them in the Azure Container Registry. This is valuable for teams using Kubernetes as users can package Kubernetes applications with the charts and the images they reference together.

The Codefresh integration with Azure offers:

    • Login with Azure to add repositories to Codefresh; no additional authentication configuration required
    • Consume and push Charts from Codefresh
    • Manage Chart deployments in all connected Kubernetes clusters
    • Geo-replicate charts across multiple regions, using the Azure Container Registry Geo-replication

Dan Garfield, Codefresh’s Chief Technology Evangelist, said, “Codefresh exposes and makes a lot easier the pattern that Helm is really designed for, which is to make your application, package it, store it, and then consume it.  That way, you have disaster recovery built in because you can always roll back.”

As the first Kubernetes-native Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) platform, Codefresh helps developers instantly build, test, and deploy to Kubernetes, and gather feedback on apps, resulting in up to 24-times faster development times.

“As CNCF is focused on fostering innovation within the cloud native ecosystem, we’re thrilled to see members like Codefresh and Microsoft Azure working to support the needs of such a fast-moving community,” said Dan Kohn, executive director of Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), incubator of Helm.

Krishnan Subramanian, Rishidot Research analyst and cloud computing and open source expert, added, “By providing a managed Helm repository, Codefresh helps Helm to fulfill the high and much anticipated market expectations of the package manager as a key component in the mass adoption of microservices. This buy-in from Codefresh and Microsoft legitimizes Helm, meaning more enterprises will take full advantage of all Kubernetes has to offer – to speed development, improve security, and easily update and manage applications – and ultimately reduce time to market.”

“Helm Chart Repositories are a natural and obvious addition to Azure Container Registry as we see more and more customers moving into production needing a means to deploy a collection of images and configurations. Being able to geo-replicate Helm Charts alongside their referenced images using common authentication streamlines chart deployments. We continue to be impressed by the focus and experiences Codefresh brings to container native development, and the creative and customer focused team,” Steve Lasker, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft Container Registries.

Details about the integration for Azure Helm Repositories can be found in Codefresh’s new blog, “Codefresh adds native integration for Azure Helm Repositories.” In addition, Codefresh is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, November 28 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific, Updating Kubernetes With Helm Charts: Build, Test, Deploy with Codefresh and Azure hosted by Microsoft Azure’s Lasker and Codefresh’s Garfield.

  • Near-Zero Debugging Time: OzCode Unveils Industry’s First Debugging-as-a-Service

OzCode’s highly visual and insightful service offers time travel production debugging to provide fastest insight on how and why code fails

Herzliya Pituach, Israel, Nov. 13, 2018 – With a promise to reduce arduous debugging time from hours and sometimes days down to mere minutes, OzCode, a startup making debugging more visual and insightful for software developers, today launched the industry’s first Debugging-as-a-Service (DaaS). Accessible through the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, OzCode’s Azure DevOps solution provides collaboration, root cause analysis, and unique (patent-pending) time travel, allowing developers to pinpoint the exact moment of failure in a distributed cloud environment.

    The production-debugging toolset includes:

    • “Prebugging” allowing developers to see into the future and fix bugs before they happen
    • Automatic redaction of personally identifiable information (PII) to comply with regulatory constraints
    • “Live coding” to obtain instant verification of changes before re-deploying
    • Fast, intuitive analysis of crash dumps
    • Automated tests from production use-cases
    • Full traceability that integrates into the existing bug tracking DevOps workflow

“Studies show that roughly 50 percent of a software developer’s time is spent debugging. OzCode’s DaaS solution reduces that time significantly and makes it possible – for the first time – for coders to find the problematic source code easily and quickly,” said Omer Raviv, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of OzCode. “Our goal is to drastically reduce the amount of time spent on debugging, and thereby improve the lives of our fellow developers.”

With product features supported and tested by a community of outside developers and engineers, OzCode was first created as an integrated development environment (IDE) extension for Visual Studio, now used by more than 1,000 customers and 5,000 developers. The next release of OzCode’s Azure DevOps will provide more robust production debugging capabilities and integrate with any developer, on any cloud.

“OzCode creates amazingly powerful debugging experiences that save countless debugging hours,” said Mattias Karlsson, Technical Fellow and Microsoft Azure MVP. “It helps me as a developer gain a deep understanding of the root cause of every bug and makes sure that I can provide the best possible fix for it. I am excited to see them bring this new, much-needed innovation into the production debugging and DevOps space.”

Leading Israeli venture capital RDC (jointly owned by Elron and Rafael) and TPY Capital led OzCode’s funding round to support the production debugging product development with $3.5 million in seed capital.

“OzCode has clearly taken the DevOps experience to an entirely new level,” said Kobi Katz, VP and CIO at Rafael. “By revolutionizing the role of the DevOps community and facilitating far better and more frequent software launches, OzCode puts the developer’s focus on innovation rather than the tedious task of fixing bugs. This ultimately produces direct and significant business results for OzCode customers.”

“During the due diligence process, we were thoroughly impressed with what the OzCode team has managed to achieve to date. With only little in the way of capital or human resources, the company had obtained a cult-like following of thousands of developers who’ve seen their daily routine dramatically improve by using OzCode’s technology,” said Guy Yamen, Managing Partner at TPY Capital.

Following the round, Yaron Elad and Kobi Katz from RDC, and Guy Yamen from TPY Capital will join OzCode’s Board of Directors.

  • MapR Announces Clarity Program for Cloudera and Hortonworks Customers with New Platform Update and Free Data Assessment Service

The Clarity Program Provides a Clear Path for AI, Cloud, Containers and IoT

Santa Clara, Calif. –November 7, 2018 –MapR® Technologies, Inc., provider of the industry’s next generation data platform for AI and Analytics, today announced the Clarity Program, a new product release and a free assessment service that provides a comprehensive understanding of a customer’s current data environment and the best practices to achieve a clear path to support AI, cloud, containers and IoT deployments.

“Many companies have a data lake in place and have questions about how to get to the cloud, support hybrid environments, leverage containers, and extend data processing at the edge,” said Mike Leone, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “These questions are more important than ever as customers look to understand how the Cloudera Hortonworks merger impacts product roadmap and the timeliness of future innovation. MapR answers all these questions with a generally available product today.”

The Clarity Program consists of MapR Data Platform updates that include capabilities and new features that address:

    • Broad Support for AI – MapR supports diverse data management and logistics capabilities with standard interfaces to directly support tools such as TensorFlow, Caffe, and PyTorch. MapR Clarity also includes the recently announced support for RAPIDS open-source software from NVIDIA and the ability to inject data flows directly into GPU-driven data science projects. New features for the MapR Data Science Refinery include support for the Helium repository browser and ability to share Zeppelin visualization packages across multiple containers. The Clarity Program provides these AI related capabilities today which clears up confusion caused by incomplete competing solutions.
    • Synchronized Cloud and Multi-Cloud – MapR underscores cross-cloud synchronization and data replication with new S3-compatible API support. Not only can on-premises file-based applications directly use object storage across clouds, MapR can coordinate data access and flows with existing Hadoop installations forestalling the need for wholesale replacement. Data synchronization across locations, whether on-premises, cloud or at the edge, remains a challenge for existing alternatives as well as merged solutions.
    • Stateful Containers – MapR includes support for frictionless data access for containerized stateful applications, direct data access with native Kubernetes volume drivers and the ability to use containers and Kubernetes directly with NVIDIA containers. Supporting stateful applications in containers remains a challenge for alternative solutions today.
    • Integrated IoT – MapR extends to the edge with uniform management, security and data protection which includes integrated support for streams. There is no separate streaming cluster to manage or secure with MapR. New capabilities include support for Kafka KSQL that provides support for interactive and non-interactive SQL and allows launching stream applications with no need to write code in Java or Python.
    • Uniform Data Governance – The MapR Data Platform extends from on-premises to cloud to edge with a common management, data security and data protection model. Data security and management is not based on data type or access method, it is a unified part of the platform and can extend across locations and across processing types without introducing security gaps or duplicate management tasks. Competing solutions fall short by tying data security to the access methods.

“Every day we ingest a very large volume of machine generated data, so having a fast, reliable data analytics platform is critical to our business,” said Charles Wheelus, principal data scientist at Cequint.  “We made the switch to the MapR Data Platform from Hortonworks and our data ingestion now runs flawlessly. Before switching to MapR, our data ingestion often required manual intervention, resulting in a loss of productivity. Stepping up to MapR has drastically reduced administration time, freeing us to focus on delivering value to our partners and customers.”

“The announced merger of Cloudera and Hortonworks has put a spotlight on the fact that the shared underlying data platform is the same and there are 10 or more overlapping projects that need to be consolidated,” said Jack Norris, senior vice president, data and applications, MapR. “Customers are running on a platform that is bound to have disruptive changes ahead with this ‘merger mess’, including halted innovation and uncertain migrations. MapR is focused on helping organizations best leverage their current investments and quickly meet their continuing business needs and outcomes with a platform that is already years ahead.”

The Clarity Program also includes a free StepUp assessment service to leverage MapR Professional Services’ expertise and offers a comprehensive program to understand the current customer’s data architecture, workflows, applications and uses cases. The Professional Services team will engage with customers to provide:

    • High-level architectural approach, performance planning and recommendations
    • Feature mapping to address defined gaps and needs
    • Step-by-step implementation plan for on-premise, cloud, edge execution

  • Airbus uses CollabNet VersionOne for Value Stream Management

ATLANTA, Nov. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — CollabNet VersionOne (www.collabnet.com), a global leader in Enterprise Value Stream Management, Agile management, Git version control and DevOps, announces that Airbus is deploying CollabNet VersionOne VS to establish value stream management (VSM), which is a powerful new way to make software development and delivery more effective.

Enterprise VSM shows businesses the effect software has on the organization, throughout the software lifecycle. This visibility allows companies to keep software decisions aligned to business objectives. However, in order to visualize the development and release pipeline end to end, you need to use a solution such as VS to scale Agile and DevOps and analyze critical indicators of the speed and quality of software product creation.

VS helps companies focus on managing complex interdependencies in scaled Agile delivery, and to connect software deliverables to business value objectives. Those attributes help customers such as Airbus transition to an enterprise value stream management based model.

The transition from the waterfall approach to Agile often begins with the use of different project management tools to handle various steps across processes. This is a common approach but requires too much time just to keep processes smooth. Also, this model doesn’t provide a feasible path for scaling Agile and DevOps and achieving enterprise VSM.

VS makes the shift from waterfall to Agile and DevOps easier by overcoming those limitations. VS unites and orchestrates the flow of work and processes and enables value streams at scale, so teams can reduce waste and focus on work that delivers value to the customer and business.

“We are honored that Airbus selected CollabNet VersionOne VS as its solution for enterprise value stream management,” said company CEO Flint Brenton. “Aerospace innovation will lead to experiences that we can only imagine today. But to turn fresh ideas into reality faster than before, companies need to align their software development with their business objectives. We have the strongest solution available for that. We look forward to serving Airbus on its journey to enterprise value stream management.”

    About CollabNet VersionOne
CollabNet VersionOne is the Enterprise Value Stream Management leader that accelerates high value software development and delivery, while improving quality and reducing risk. Our offerings provide global enterprise and government market leaders a cohesive solution, spanning idea through delivery, that enable them to capture, create, deliver and measure the flow of business value throughout their application development lifecycles.

Eggplant AI has also been extended to allow the testing of vast enterprise software systems via sub-models, model versioning and other collaboration features. Sub-models allow a large, complex system model to be broken down to keep it easy to use and to manage.

Eggplant Functional, the market-leading automation engine, will now provide organizations with the ability to analyze the usability of their software without requiring human feedback. Eggplant can spot problems that will cause user dissatisfaction that may lead to poorer business outcomes. These can include text that is difficult to read, bad color choices, or improperly rendered or obscured images.

Other additions to the Suite include enhanced integration and collaboration capabilities to support large, enterprise teams.

    Quotes and Commentary

“The days of testing just the functionality, rather than the digital experience and the business outcomes that flow from it, are over. Organizations must accelerate the speed of delivery while ensuring the quality and effectiveness of new digital products and services. The Digital Automation Intelligence Suite allows DevOps teams to transform their approach to testing, delivering digital experiences that always delight.”

    Antony Edwards, COO Eggplant

Almost 500 organizations in industries such as healthcare, financial services, travel, government/public sector, transportation, telecommunications, oil and gas, education, retail and automotive, among others, became new customers this past year. In fact, its customer rollsinclude 43 of the Fortune 100.

    Customer Success

Tasktop conducted a successful Technical Account Management pilot program in the first half of the year and followed up on that success by staffing a Customer Success department. The goal of the team is to partner with select accounts to bring them a defined technical advocate and trusted advisor to ensure its customers get the most value out of their Tasktop solution. In a second initiative, Tasktop created a new VSM consulting practice, noted above, led by DeArdo.

    Research

Tasktop’s research of 300 of the largest U.S. enterprises revealed that many are now extending process automation beyond continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) in order to accelerate software delivery and time-to-market. In fact, 40 percent of them have connected or plan to connect four or more tools in the design and development stages that precede CI/CD. Meanwhile, 70 percent of organizations are integrating at least three tools and four artifacts.

In addition, a  May 2018 report from Forrester (Elevate Agile-Plus-DevOps With Value Stream Management by Christopher Condo and Diego Lo Giudice) noted: “Practicing value stream management (VSM) allows companies to make their Agile plus development and operations (DevOps) development environments into real digital business drivers. With VSM, organizations implementing Agile-plus-DevOps will better understand the value they deliver, the efficiencies they gain, and the further optimization possibilities for each software product in their delivery pipeline.” The report further noted that “Tasktop provides integration capabilities across a broad range of DevOps tooling — a core VSM capability that enables traceability, visibility, and connections between the people, process, and technology.”

In August 2018, The Forrester New Wave™: Value Stream Management Tools, Q3 2018 by Christopher Condo and Bill Seguin cited Tasktop as a strong performer in Value Stream Management (VSM) Tools. The report noted that “Tasktop is a best fit for companies that want a best-of-breed DevOps stack. Tasktop aims to integrate and coordinate value streams across your DevOps stack from ideation to production, but it will leave domain-specific work to other specialized tools.”

    Product

In the first half of FY 2018, Tasktop augmented its Tasktop Integration Hub with an integration with Intland’s codeBeamer ALM, an application lifecycle management tool that enables teams to manage their requirements, software development, testing and quality assurance, risk management, variants management and more. Other new connections in FY 2018 included PTC Integrity, Git and Sparx Pro Cloud Server.

Tasktop continues innovating at the pace of partners like ServiceNow, whose London release adds support for customers’ SAFe 4.5 initiatives. Tasktop’s customers can immediately adopt these new capabilities by connecting ServiceNow to the tools Agile teams are already using, such as Atlassian Jira and Microsoft Azure DevOps (formerly Team Foundation Server).

    Awards

Tasktop was named to the 2018 Ready to Rocket List in the IT sector.
