  • Electric Cloud Announces New Version of ElectricFlow That Simplifies Container Deployments and Coordinates Microservices-based Application Releases for Enterprise DevOps

Electric Cloud delivers industry leading innovation, enabling teams to leverage modern microservices and container-based applications within the complex legacy and hybrid environments of today’s large enterprises

SAN FRANCISCO (DevOps Enterprise Summit 2016), Calif., Nov. 7, 2016 – Electric Cloud (http://electric-cloud.com), the leader in DevOps Release Automation, today announced a new version of ElectricFlow that allows enterprises to safely deploy microservices and containers at scale in large, enterprise environments. DevOps teams can now streamline and simplify processes to get containerized applications up and running, easily promote applications across different container environments, and gain much-needed visibility into application pipelines – both traditional and microservices/containers-based – through a single pane of governance.

Electric Cloud, a founding partner of the DevOps Enterprise Summit (#DOES16) that starts today, will demonstrate the new ElectricFlow throughout the conference.

“Our customers are rapidly adopting new technologies and architectures – like containers and microservices – as part of their DevOps initiatives. However, these approaches pose challenges in terms of operations, governance and orchestration – given the complex, large-scale, hybrid environments that these organizations need to support,” said Steve Brodie, CEO of Electric Cloud. “Often, when deploying containerized workloads or microservices into legacy production environments, teams find it difficult to coordinate their releases. ElectricFlow easily and safely manages containers and microservices throughout the software delivery lifecycle to support legacy or traditional monolithic applications, hybrid data centers and clouds, and large-scale infrastructure requirements.”

ElectricFlow represents the first end-to-end DevOps Release Automation platform to let Developer, QA and Operations personnel deploy microservices to their preferred container infrastructure or cluster manager solution (such as Google Container Engine, Amazon Container Service, or Kubernetes) without requiring any knowledge about the underlying integrations. This allows teams to coordinate and manage a mix of monolithic application and microservices releases across legacy or CD-style pipelines, into both on-premises and cloud environments. Additionally, the model-based approach is agnostic of container environments or cluster orchestration solutions, and enables easy portability between providers.

“Enterprise teams have never faced so much complexity or choice as part of the software delivery lifecycle,” said Brodie. “ElectricFlow now allows customers to future-proof their process, and consolidate control over bi-modal pipelines, delivering monolithic and microservices-based applications to both cloud and on-premises infrastructure.”

Electric Cloud is recognized globally, and among all leading analyst firms, as an industry innovator trusted by Fortune 1,000 enterprises to automate and coordinate modern software delivery practices. ElectricFlow, its flagship DevOps Release Automation platform, provides a single, scalable solution that organizations use to automate software deployments, accelerate time to market, reduce delivery costs, and increase quality, reliability and traceability.

The new ElectricFlow with Microservices and Container Deployment support is now available through Invitation Program, and will be generally available in December 2016. • CollabNet Announces Innovative New Platform that Provides Continuous Visibility and Feedback across DevOps-Driven Application Delivery

CollabNet Announces Innovative New Platform that Provides Continuous Visibility and Feedback across DevOps-Driven Application Delivery

CollabNet DevOps Lifecycle Manager represents an evolution in software development lifecycle management – connecting tools and processes, providing workflow automation and KPI data that can reveal risk and improve quality

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (DevOps Enterprise Summit Table #19) – November 7, 2016 – CollabNet® (www.collabnet.com), a global leader in enterprise software development and delivery solutions that help customers create high-quality applications at speed, today announced CollabNet DevOps Lifecycle Manager (DLM). This platform advances DevOps with innovation that connects software development with operations and the business in several new ways.

CollabNet DLM improves processes by providing traceability and visibility to the entire software development lifecycle including across DevOps tool chains. At the operational level, it enables strong business decisions by providing insightful KPI reports across the entire lifecycle from planning to operations. CollabNet DLM also increases efficiency by automating and orchestrating processes.

The innovations in CollabNet DLM overcome tool and process silos and the limited visibility and weak operational support that affect quality for DevOps-driven application delivery. Ultimately, CollabNet DLM delivers a level of transparency that enables everyone to make informed decisions based on business priorities.

The product uses operational data to provide an intelligent correlation and traceability capability to enable new levels of decision making; KPI data, for example, that can reveal whether hidden issues in a software release would cause the number of service desk tickets to increase. Because CollabNet DLM collects metrics from the tools and activities from the chained associations, it can surface powerful reports. A single pane of glass allows viewers to review metrics such as: features vs. incidents vs. releases vs. time-to-fix. The real-time visibility makes it possible to course-correct in near real-time, expedite quality-issue resolution, and shorten cycle times via automation. This is just one example of what makes this a next generation DevOps solution.

“DevOps Lifecycle Manager from CollabNet is a significant step forward for companies seeking to automate the software lifecycle from start to finish,” says Julie Craig, analyst at EMA Research. “It integrates data from the wide variety of tool sets underlying the lifecycle, giving customers end-to-end traceability and monitoring, spanning the tasks and roles of both Dev and Ops. These functionalities make DLM a compelling asset for enterprises managing a large number of tools, projects and people.”

“This is a watershed moment for CollabNet. We have worked with customers, industry analysts, and partners to build a DevOps platform that bridges Agile concepts into IT operations; the work is based on our years of helping the world’s largest organizations manage the increasingly complex software delivery lifecycle,” says Flint Brenton, CEO at CollabNet. “When I look at CollabNet DLM I see a flexible orchestrator for enterprise DevOps teams that provides insights for better decision making by collecting, tracking, managing and, most importantly, providing comprehensive contextual data on processes and tools—all done in a way never before seen in the industry. It is not unreasonable for me to say that CollabNet DLM elevates DevOps to a new level, bringing software development into the enterprise fold unlike any other product on the market today can do,” Brenton says.

CollabNet DLM is unique its ability to give enterprises the visibility, end-to-end integration of tools, context for relationships between tools and processes, and automation of workflows across all stages of the DevOps lifecycle. The innovations in this new product are in three areas. Coverage – this solution makes it easier to view and understand software development efforts because it covers the whole software development lifecycle and integrates and orchestrates processes, people, and popular DevOps tools they use. Reporting of KPIs – CollabNet DLM is unique in serving the Ops or operational needs by collecting metrics from the tools and processes and delivering KPI reports that reveal risk areas and opportunities for immediate course-correction at key points in the process. Automation and Collaboration– CollabNet DLM includes workflow automation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key features of CollabNet DLM include:

    • Tool Integrations across Planning, Coding, Build, Test, Deploy, Collaboration, Monitoring and Ticketing.
    • Visibility and Traceability of work items across DevOps tools chain.
    • Business & Technical Management Console where the most relevant business and technical KPI’s are displayed .
    • Event-driven Automation workflows throughout the DevOps lifecycle.
    • Bi-directional Feedback Loop to provide actionable intelligence both upstream and downstream.

Aimed at Global 5000 enterprises and government agencies with heterogeneous tool chains, CollabNet DLM customers are given a holistic view of the entire software development lifecycle through a single pane of glass, no matter how distributed an organization’s environment may be. It is delivered as a highly-scalable, always-on cloud service, easily plugging into any existing IT Infrastructure. CollabNet DLM is priced from $25,000 and is available now.

Aqua Security Announces Support for Windows 2016 Containers

Integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services to Automate Container Image Vulnerability Scanning

Tel Aviv, Israel – 27 October 2016, Aqua Security, the leading platform provider for securing virtual container applications, today announced support for Windows Server 2016 containers as well as integration with Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS). These latest additions to Aqua’s Container Security Platform make it the first true multi-OS container security solution.

“Aqua’s support for Windows Server 2016 and integration with VSTS enables our customers to natively develop and run Windows containers to deploy inherently secure applications that evolve their businesses at cloud speed,” said Amir Jerbi, CTO and co-founder, Aqua Security. “As Microsoft users begin to adopt containers on a large scale, we will continue to provide native cross-platform support.”

Previewed by Amir Jerbi in a talk at Microsoft Ignite last month, the Aqua Container Security Platform (CSP) now provides the same automated security controls for containers running natively on Windows as it does for Linux containers. Key functionality includes:

    • Image assurance that prevents running vulnerable images and tracks image use throughout the lifecycle.
    • Runtime security that utilizes multiple layers of defense, starting with least-privilege defaults that are then enhanced using behavioral analytics to whitelist good behavior and prevent anomalous behavior.
    • Cyber intelligence that provides protection against various attack vectors
    • Granular access control that prevents unauthorized access by users

Aqua also announced today that its image vulnerability scanning is now available in the Visual Studio Marketplace and integrated with Visual Studio Team Services.  VSTS users can use Aqua to scan container images for vulnerabilities during the build process. Users can create policies determining how to act on the results of the scan – for example, they can set thresholds for vulnerability scores that will fail the build. With this integration, VSTS users can easily automate security into their image build process.

  • Platform9 Announces Hybrid Cloud-as- a-Service for OpenStack Community

New Extensions Enable Easier Management of Private and Public Endpoints

    OPENSTACK SUMMIT BARCELONA – October 26, 2016 – Platform9, the open source-as- a-

service company making cloud infrastructure easy, today announced that it has made significant

contributions to OpenStack to enable hybrid cloud management by integrating with public cloud

endpoints. These extensions enable OpenStack APIs to be the single, open standard for

managing cloud infrastructure across private and public endpoints, and enables developers to

focus on solving core business problems and not worry about configuring and managing

backend infrastructure. These extensions are immediately available to the OpenStack

    community.

As an increasing number of businesses look to implement or expand hybrid cloud deployments,

OpenStack now provides a platform-agnostic — and cost-effective — alternative to avoid being

locked into a specific vendor ecosystem. Centralizing hybrid cloud deployments on OpenStack

allows IT teams to freely integrate with other best-of- breed cloud platforms while maintaining a

private cloud-like level of visibility and control. IT can now enable developer agility by allowing

rapid provisioning of resources across different cloud platforms via OpenStack’s self-service

portal, while still maintaining an organization’s policies around capacity and quota management.

“While hybrid cloud models have emerged as a best practice for digital transformation initiatives

at businesses both large and small, the lack of an open standard to manage public and private

cloud environments has been a major pain point,” said Madhura Maskasky, co-founder and vice

president of product at Platform9. “By contributing these extensions to the OpenStack

community, we help enterprise IT break through the public and private siloes and drive

exponentially higher success rates for hybrid cloud projects.”

The extensions include OpenStack drivers for Amazon Web Services to integrate OpenStack

projects such as nova, glance, neutron, and cinder with AWS. This represents the first set of

drivers of its kind, and promises to provide support for other popular public clouds in the future.

“Providers like Platform9 have shown enterprises the utility of a consumption model that delivers

OpenStack innovation through a multi-cloud approach,” said Mark Collier, chief operating officer

at the OpenStack Foundation. “It’s helping to bring new users into the community, proving the

value of OpenStack as the standardized platform for private, hybrid and public clouds tuned to

    each unique application use case.”

Platform9’s Managed OpenStack Service now fully integrates with these extensions. Platform9

is now the first OpenStack solution to manage private and public cloud environments, providing

a single pane of glass management across virtual machines and containers, across multiple

    regions and hybrid environments.

Platform9 Announces Hybrid Cloud-as- a-Service for OpenStack Community

    Platform9 at OpenStack Summit Barcelona

Platform9 is currently showcasing this technology in its booth #A6 at OpenStack Summit

Barcelona, taking place October 25-28, 2016.

    About Platform9

Platform9 provides open source-as- a-service for enterprises that need faster and easier ways to

manage cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms. Unlike do-it- yourself or legacy solutions,

Platform9 delivers best-of- breed cloud infrastructure like OpenStack and Kubernetes as SaaS-

managed solutions to reduce cost and time to value, all while avoiding being locked into a single

vendor ecosystem. Platform9 helps DevOps and IT teams focus on solving core business

problems while automating much of the set-up and management process on the back end. It

has enabled customers like Box, Blue Cross Blue Shield and PlayStation to realize a greater

than 99 percent success rate with OpenStack projects. Founded in 2013 by a team of early
