  • CloudBees (Electric Cloud) Flow Scores Highest in All Three Use Cases in Gartner’s 2019 Critical Capabilities for Application Release Orchestration

Gartner’s evaluation of application release orchestration (ARO) products is based on use cases surrounding release orchestration; pipeline and environment management; and deployment automation

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CloudBees, the enterprise DevOps leader powering the continuous economy, today announced CloudBees (Electric Cloud*) received the highest scores for all three use cases defined in Gartner’s 2019 Critical Capabilities for Application Release Orchestration (ARO)1. CloudBees Flow 9.0 (Electric Cloud ElectricFlow) placed highest in each use case for the second straight year, with two of the use case evaluations increasing over the prior-year period.

Gartner’s process evaluates products on a five-point scale. CloudBees (Electric Cloud) received highest scores from Gartner across all use cases in the 2019 Critical Capabilities for Application Release Orchestration (ARO): Release Manager (4.9/5), Application/Product Owner (4.9/5), DevOps/Application Operations Team Member (4.9/5).

“ARO tools enable DevOps teams to automate application deployments, manage continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines and orchestrate release workflows,” noted Daniel Betts, Chris Saunderson, Christopher Little and Hassan Annaciri in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Application Release Orchestration. “I&O leaders must assess the capabilities of these tools to improve application delivery cadence and support digital business initiatives.”

CloudBees Flow is the industry’s first unified Application Resource Orchestration platform built for DevOps at enterprise scale. CloudBees Flow helps drive IT efficiency by automating and orchestrating software releases, pipelines and deployments with the analytics and insight to measure, track and improve results.

This vision and current product leadership, along with notable enterprise customer successes, makes CloudBees the de facto standard for enterprise ARO. Market leaders choose CloudBees Flow because it provides:

    • A way to implement and share secure, repeatable and adaptable pipelines to deliver mainframe, monolithic and microservices applications
    • Unprecedented, actionable insight into the health and status of enterprise releases, without requiring manual data collection and analysis
    • A solution that will reliably scale as they roll out DevOps processes across their entire organization

“In today’s competitive business climate, everyone shares a common goal: to deliver better software, faster and more securely. CloudBees is committed to helping our customers have a software delivery management system that helps them connect and measure all end-to-end activities and realize their vision of becoming software-first companies,” said Sacha Labourey, CEO and co-founder of CloudBees. “Our focus is paying off: CloudBees once again was ranked the highest scores across all use cases in the Gartner’s 2019 Critical Capabilities for Application Release Orchestration and positioned as a four-time Leader in Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for Automation Release Orchestration.”

  • CloudBees (Electric Cloud) Recognized for Completeness of Vision in Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for Application Release Orchestration (ARO)

For the fourth year in a row, CloudBees (Electric Cloud) named an ARO Magic Quadrant Leader. CloudBees believes CloudBees Flow provides a safe and reliable way to scale software release with unprecedented insight and control

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CloudBees, the enterprise DevOps leader powering the continuous economy, today announced it has been named a Leader in Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for Application Release Orchestration for the fourth straight year. Gartner analysts evaluated companies based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. CloudBees (Electric Cloud) was positioned the furthest to the right among seven vendors for its completeness of vision.

“We believe the placement of CloudBees as a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for the fourth year in a row, positioned the furthest to the right for completeness of vision this year, validates our commitment to market-leading excellence in the software delivery space,” said Sacha Labourey, CEO of CloudBees. “CloudBees Flow provides a high level of control and visibility into complex enterprise pipelines, helping our customers eliminate release anxiety across the entire software delivery chain. Combined with our unmatched depth in Jenkins-based CI/CD, CloudBees provides a robust software delivery solution, from code to release. As customers continue to invest in DevOps, we are more focused than ever on helping them make software delivery a true competitive advantage.”

    Scaling Release Activities

Gartner defines the Application Release Orchestration (ARO) category as having solutions that enable organizations to scale release activities across multiple diverse teams (e.g. DevOps), technologies, development methodologies (e.g. agile), delivery patterns (e.g. continuous), pipelines, processes and toolchains.

Gartner evaluated vendors on their Completeness of Vision based on the following categories for Market Understanding: deployment automation, pipeline and environment management, release orchestration, scalability and performance, and usability and access. Against these criteria, CloudBees was positioned the farthest right on the axis for Completeness of Vision.

    ARO Market Being Disrupted

In the 2019 report, Gartner stated that “this research will be the final Magic Quadrant for ARO vendors.”

“As the ARO market is being heavily disrupted, Gartner believes application release is no longer the correct perspective for understanding and evaluating the vendor landscape. The delineation in functionality between various tools — ARO, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), serverless, platform as a service (PaaS), etc. — is becoming blurred as these markets converge. Therefore, we have decided to provide clients with crisp, actionable guidance for ARO solutions on a case-by-case basis in 2020 and beyond,” the report stated.1

“We agree that the ARO market is evolving rapidly as part of an overall move by customers to connect all aspects of their software delivery management practices,” Labourey said. “The need for organizations to scale release activities across multiple diverse teams, technologies, processes, stacks and toolchains hasn’t disappeared – it’s just grown bigger. We believe that this convergence must include process, tools and data, which is why we are firm believers in Software Delivery Management.”

    Software Delivery Management

Current software delivery practices limit organizations’ ability to deliver software faster and more frequently to meet business needs. Organizations’ reliance on siloed tools used by different teams to perform largely manual tasks hampers their efforts to collaborate and share visibility across the delivery spectrum. CloudBees is responding to the challenge by building the cohesive system customers want, without forcing them to walk away from their existing tooling or processes. It will connect product stakeholders and development teams with the rest of the business, enabling full visibility and automation from idea to delivery.

CloudBees Flow is a key component of the company’s Software Delivery Management strategy – enabling teams to implement fast and adapt easily, with unprecedented insight and control of all types of releases, at any scale.

  • DevOps Institute Announces New Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Foundation Course

SRE Foundation is the latest addition to DevOps Institute’s certification matrix as part of the SKIL (Skills, Knowledge, Ideas, and Learning) Framework

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 29, 2019 – DevOps Enterprise Summit – DevOps Institute (https://devopsinstitute.com/), a global member-based association for advancing the human elements of DevOps, today announced the addition of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Foundation℠ to its certification matrix. The new certification introduces the principles and practices of SRE that enable an organization to reliably and economically scale critical services.

SRE Foundation will be available through DevOps Institute’s global channel of Registered Education Partners beginning in January 2020. While a training course through an accredited partner is required to take the examination, there is no prerequisite necessary to take the training.

DevOps Institute’s curriculum is based on industry research and the most up-to-date resources to enable a role-based development approach that focuses on modern competencies required by organizations adopting DevOps and SRE patterns and practices. The company delivers eight DevOps competency-based certifications and three non-certifications and includes more than 160 hours of learning materials – the most available in the market today.

For more information about the certifications from DevOps Institute, visit: (https://hubs.ly/H0lwq7X0).

“We chose to start with a foundational level SRE certification in order to equip the IT community with a common understanding of the core principles, practices, and vocabulary that are at the heart of SRE,” said Jayne Groll, CEO of the DevOps Institute.  “Site Reliability Engineering is probably the most significant advancement in guidance for IT Operations and IT Service Management (ITSM) since the early days of ITIL. Not only is SRE now an actual job role, but as a service management framework, it is most closely aligned with DevOps, Continuous Delivery and Agile.”

Based in large part on the guidance described in Google’s Site Reliability Engineering book, the certification content also includes practical advice, related practices and the need for automation in order to reduce manual work known as toil. It is tailored for practitioners and leaders focused on large-scale service availability.

The introduction of an SRE Foundation certification responds to the rapid acceleration of enterprise interest and the adoption of SRE as a service management alternative. Site Reliability Engineers are responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.

  • OpsRamp Report Finds That Nearly Two-Thirds of IT Leaders Want a DevOps Approach To Modernize IT Operations Management

IT decision-makers report that 64% of IT leaders believe it’s their job to deliver hybrid infrastructure agility above all else.

San Jose, CA (October 29th, 2019) OpsRamp , the service-centric AIOps platform for the modern, hybrid enterprise, today announced the launch of Adapt or Perish: The OpsRamp Report on Modern IT Operations in the Digital Age which detail its findings on the current challenges and future roadmap of IT operations.

The OpsRamp Report on Modern IT Operations in the Digital Age is a study on findings of a recent survey of enterprise IT operations leaders who answered the following questions:

    • What are the roadblocks to IT operations modernization?
    • What skills are required for effective digital operations management?
    • Which metrics are most important to evaluate IT operational effectiveness?

250+ IT leaders from companies with at least 500 employees in North America took the survey. Here are three leading insights from the report:

    • DevOps Above All Else.64% of those surveyed indicated that DevOps is the most sought-after skill, above cloud certifications, machine learning, and even industry knowledge. Organizations adopting DevOps practices can release applications more frequently and deliver continuous improvements at lower failure rates.
    • Cloud-First Strategies are the Future.Nearly 60% of organizations have more than half of their mission-critical workloads running in the public cloud. Effective IT teams must now consider the cloud, along with microservice application architectures, serverless infrastructures, and pay-as-you-go pricing, as a fundamental approach to accelerate digital transformation.
    • Budgets Are the Limiting Factor.Budgets are overwhelmingly perceived as the greatest limitation to IT operations transformation.  IT teams are asked to do more with less all the time, which results in a strategic mismatch between stated corporate goals and existing technology capabilities.

“The OpsRamp Report on Modern IT Operations in the Digital Age identifies the challenges that many of our customers are experiencing,” said Varma Kunaparaju, CEO of  OpsRamp. “Enterprises want agility, flexibility, control, and the power and promise of the cloud. OpsRamp’s service-centric AIOps platform helps monitor and manage data volume and velocity, and provides these companies with a digital operations command center that allows modern IT operations teams to be more adaptive, unified, and aligned across a hybrid, multi-cloud landscape. What’s more, our native infrastructure monitoring and service context capabilities help maintain business service uptime while reducing the risk of surprise outages.”

The report is available for download here.

    About OpsRamp

OpsRamp enables IT to control the chaos of managing their hybrid IT operations and act like a service provider back to the business. Built in the cloud, the OpsRamp service-centric AIOps platform drives total visibility across hybrid infrastructures, offers complete multi-cloud infrastructure monitoring and management of business-critical services, and optimizes services through automation and integration with ITSM and DevOps tools. • Aviatrix Raises $40 Million in Series C Funding

CRV Leads Latest Round of Investment

SANTA CLARA, CALIF., OCTOBER 28, 201

Aviatrix, the leading provider of advanced networking and security services for the multi-cloud enterprise, today announced it has secured $40 million in Series C funding led by existing investor CRV. Also participating in this round are previous investors Formation 8, Ignition Partners and Liberty Global Ventures.

The growth-stage investment will be used to scale sales, channel, customer support, marketing and product development operations to accommodate escalating demand from enterprises moving mission-critical applications from on-premises to the public cloud. Total funding in Aviatrix now exceeds $76 million.

“Business and application owners demand networking and security teams provide the same level of resiliency, performance, functionality and security in the cloud as they get on premises,” said Steve Mullaney, CEO at Aviatrix. “The basic constructs of AWS and the other public clouds do not give enterprises the toolset required to accomplish this, and it is causing a great deal of pain for IT moving to the cloud. Aviatrix gives enterprise IT an architecture to provide a common set of networking, security and operational services across one or more public clouds. We’re seeing unprecedented demand from some of the largest organizations, and this latest funding will enable us to extend our demonstrable market leadership even more quickly.”

“CRV invests in people who pair market insights with proven abilities to execute,” said Devdutt Yellurkar, general partner at CRV and Aviatrix board member. “Steve Mullaney has assembled the best go-to-market talent in the industry—fueling impressive momentum in enterprise adoption and partnerships that are driving substantial revenue growth. It’s rare for CRV to lead a Series C round, but we did so here based on the enormous opportunity. We’re incredibly excited to be a part of Aviatrix’s trailblazing journey.”

Underscoring its momentum, during the past year Aviatrix has attracted key industry players, including appointing Mullaney as CEO, former VMware chief of staff John Jendricks as chief operating officer and James Winebrenner as senior vice president of worldwide sales. In August, Aviatrix relocated its global headquarters to Santa Clara, tripling its office space to accommodate rapid staff expansion.

  • Extreme Networks Unveils ExtremeCloud IQ Cloud Management Application

Enterprise Network Management Solution Leverages Third-Generation Cloud Technology, ML,

and AI to Deliver Automation, Insights, and Assurance from the Edge to the Data Center

Revolutionary Co-Pilot Feature Delivers Fail-Safe Automation Capabilities for IT Administrators

SAN JOSE, California, October 22, 2019 — Extreme Netwo rks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR), a cloud-driven networking company, today announced availability of ExtremeCloud™ IQ, the industry’s first end-to-end cloud management application that leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide enterprises with insights, as well as complete visibility, control, and automation of their entire network. With this announcement, Extreme is also introducing “Co-Pilot,” a new automation feature that will help IT administrators save time and effort on an increasing number of everyday tasks. The ExtremeCloud IQ application can be deployed in the public cloud, private cloud, or on-premises, providing enterprises with unmatched flexibility to accomplish their business objectives.

    Key Facts

    • Built on an architecture supported by microservices, third-generation cloud technology and tools acquired from Aerohive Networks, ExtremeCloud IQ ingests over 3 billion highly instrumented messages and events – and 3 petabytes of data – per day across its global footprint of regional cloud instances. These events and messages are processed through the native ExtremeCloud IQ machine learning and artificial intelligence engine to provide IT administrators with actionable insights, and now with Co-Pilot, automated assistance.
    • Cloud is the fastest path to implementing the autonomous network. Today, ExtremeCloud IQ provides a unified management platform for wireless access points, switches, routers, and security/NAC, enabling onboarding, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting, and many other capabilities for cloud-centric enterprise networks. Over the next 90 days, through a continuous delivery model, ExtremeCloud IQ will expand to support Extreme’s wired edge switching solutions, including the VSP4900 fabric-enabled multi-service edge switch, the X465 premium, stackable multi-rate Gigabit Ethernet switch, and other edge switches.
    • Initial use cases for Co-Pilot will begin to rollout this calendar year and will be available at no additional charge until April 1, 2020. Co-Pilot will give customers of the ExtremeCloud IQ application “Instant Context” capabilities. This will reduce the volume of context-gathering activities required for support calls to near zero by implementing a machine learning-driven, intelligent support chat window that collects real-time and historical information about a device or client through input or drag-and-drop functionality.
    • Future iterations of Co-Pilot will, through the use of ML and AI, proactively automate Return Materials Authorizations (RMA) of any infrastructure device it determines to be operating sub-optimally that is connected to ExtremeCloud IQ via “Auto-RMA”, and proactively send a replacement device without bothering the IT administrator.
    • Co-Pilot will also take the guesswork out of whether or not to use Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) channels with “Auto-DFS.” By constantly monitoring and comparing these important channels shared with government radar for cleanliness within a specific network and anonymously across the ExtremeCloud IQ platform, Extreme will proactively provide the definitive “go/no go” for DFS usage to IT administrators that has eluded them for 10+ years. Both of these new features are scheduled for release in the first quarter of next year.
    • ExtremeCloud IQ is ISO/IEC 27001 certified by the International Standards Organization (ISO). Extreme is the first major cloud-managed networking vendor to be recognized by the ISO for its commitment to information security management systems best practices and controls.

    Executive Perspectives

Abby Strong, Vice President of Product Marketing, Extreme Networks

“Being an IT administrator in a constantly connected world is a difficult task on the best of days. Most cloud management vendors focus on a single place in the network, forcing administrators to triage across multiple UIs to troubleshoot and manage the network. With ExtremeCloud IQ, we’re taking our proven, third-generation cloud management architecture and integrating it across our end-to-end enterprise networking solutions portfolio, adding AI, ML, and automation capabilities that help drive cost containment and streamline IT operations and – ultimately – deliver a secure, compelling, and differentiated end-user experience. We are the only vendor in the industry that can do this!”

Tony Brar, Director, NETconnection Systems Limited

“Enterprise cloud adoption started with applications and then moved into security. The next frontier is infrastructure, which is the most challenging for organizations to embrace due to its complexity. Enter Extreme – with ExtremeCloud IQ and new Co-Pilot automation features, Extreme is delivering a powerful and proven enterprise solution that works across the wireless AND wired network, providing comprehensive visibility, control, and automation and dramatically simplifying IT operations. Combined with new automation features like Co-Pilot that are being delivered at cloud-speed, and our customers can’t help but benefit.”

Zeus Kerravala, Founder and Principal Analyst, ZK Research

“Cloud management is critical to enterprise digital transformation efforts. Extreme recognizes this and has put their money where their mouth is. In less than 90 days from closing the Aerohive Networks acquisition, the company has introduced compelling new automation features to ExtremeCloud IQ – formerly HiveManager – and committed to expanding the capabilities of the platform beyond wireless into wired infrastructure, giving customers and partners a complete, proven, end-to-end enterprise network management solution. The infusion of AI, machine learning, and automation will continue to deliver differentiated capabilities to Extreme’s customers, furthering its position as one of the leading cloud management providers.”

  • Aegean Airlines, BNP Paribas, Elaw Tecnologia SA and Home Trust Select IBM Cloud for Mission-Critical Workloads

New capabilities make IBM’s public cloud the most open and secure platform for enterprises to run their core business

ARMONK, N.Y., Oct. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that clients in highly regulated industries, including Aegean Airlines, BNP Paribas, Elaw Tecnologia SA and Home Trust, are selecting IBM Cloud as their preferred destination for mission-critical workloads.

IBM also announced new capabilities that make its public cloud the industry’s most secure and open cloud for business, including:

    • The industry’s only commercially available state-of-art cryptographic technology for the cloud called “Keep Your Own Key.”1 This gives enterprises the ability to retain control of their own encryption keys — and the hardware security modules that protect them — so customers are the only ones who can control access to their data.
    • Increased bandwidth for its next-gen virtual servers on the cloud up to 80 Gbps, making the IBM public cloud hyperscale-ready. Designed so enterprises can access IBM public cloud services and scale their networks quicker than ever before, all within a controlled, secured environment that is suited for sensitive workloads.
    • An expansion of IBM’s global cloud data center footprint with new multizone regions (MZR) planned for Toronto, Canada and Osaka, Japan by the end of 2020, building on the recently announced MZR in Sao Paulo, Brazil. These regions will help clients quickly deploy mission-critical workloads and applications across hybrid cloud environments, and gain access to a consistent set of IBM public cloud services – from enterprise-grade infrastructure to AI services.
    • The same IBM Power Systems technology behind the world’s smartest supercomputers, Summit and Sierra, is expected to be available for select geographies by the end of 2019 in the IBM Cloud giving organizations a new, powerful option to begin developing and training their AI applications. IBM’s support of Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Power Systems reinforces our commitment to clients to provide a flexible, secure and open, hybrid multicloud platform for their workloads.
    • New features to be made available for IBM Security Advisor to detect security misconfigurations so companies can better assess their security postures and take corrective actions.

IBM reported last week that its cloud business generated more than $20 billion dollars in revenue over the last 12 months. Today’s news complements IBM’s existing cloud offerings for private and on-premises environments – including those from recently-acquired Red Hat – enabling the company to provide comprehensive, open multicloud hybrid solutions.

“Open architectures, based on Kubernetes and containers, are driving the next wave of cloud-based innovation. That’s why IBM has just completed a two-year journey to enhance its public cloud on a foundation of open source software,” said Arvind Krishna, Senior Vice President, Cloud and Cognitive Software, IBM. “Today, we are going a step further by unveiling new capabilities for the IBM public cloud, designed to provide clients with the highest available level of security, leading data protection and enterprise-grade infrastructure to run Red Hat OpenShift.”

Aegean Airlines has adopted IBM Cloud to transform its internal business processes and further enhance its customer experience.

“IBM is the strategic provider that will support our determination and willingness to innovate and achieve excellence at both organizational and business process level,” said AEGEAN Group’s Chief Information Office, Aristeidis Kamvysis. “By utilizing IBM Cloud, we’re able to infuse IBM Watson into our applications in order to gain better business insights, while improving business operations in a reliable, scalable, and agile environment.”

With the consumer experience a top priority, banks like BNP Paribas must deal with the rapidly changing needs of customers, while also managing evolving security and regulatory guidelines, and a variety of complex data and workloads.

BNP Paribas is leveraging the IBM Cloud and adopting a hybrid cloud strategy to overcome these challenges and support its development and innovation within the ever-increasing need for security and compliance. This includes a BNP Paribas dedicated cloud based on IBM public cloud technology that offers the best of both worlds: the security of a private cloud, with the breadth of catalog and economics of a public cloud. Due to launch in mid 2020, it will provide access to the full range of IBM Cloud IaaS and PaaS services, including IBM’s Watson AI services, and will run in a Multizone Region dedicated to BNP Paribas in the Paris area to provide high availability and resilience. BNP Paribas will migrate its IT and applications to this dedicated cloud, complementing it with the IBM public cloud in the US, Asia and Europe. Together, BNP Paribas and IBM look to define and establish the cloud platform to help meet the regulatory and security controls facing BNP Paribas’ critical banking workloads.

“With the increasing regulation restrictions in the financial services industry, institutions have been historically challenged to use cloud, and public clouds in particular. By working with IBM, we are able to provide the innovation and agility that public clouds can offer, combined with the security necessary to remain compliant,” said Bernard Gavgani, BNP Paribas Group Chief Information Officer. “This approach enables us to innovate faster, provide a better customer experience, enter into new business models and tap into new technologies, such as AI.”

Together with IBM, Elaw Tecnologia SA, a company that specializes in the development of corporate solutions for legal management, created a new cognitive solution that automates cumbersome and high-volume legal tasks, hosted on IBM Cloud.

“The strict labor laws in Brazil result in a vast number of labor lawsuits. To streamline legal processes, we worked with IBM to develop a AI-enabled legal process management solution to improve efficiency and productivity for our lawyers,” said Guilherme Bordon, Chief Executive Officer, Elaw. “The solution is hosted on IBM Cloud to enable Elaw to access IBM Watson APIs, automate processes and provide a secured platform for confidential information.”

Home Trust, a federally regulated trust company based in Canada, recently migrated its IT infrastructure to IBM’s public cloud to transform its operations, while still maintaining end-to-end visibility and management over its platforms and applications. By migrating to the cloud, Home Trust now has access to flexible and scalable computing services, as well as access to higher value technologies, including AI, to digitally transform its offerings.

“For many financial institutions, upgrading core systems can disrupt underlying business operations and impact efficiency,” said Victor DiRisio, Chief Information Officer at Home Trust. “By choosing IBM Cloud, we are able to modernize our IT environment while realizing the economic benefits of cloud computing. It ensures that new solutions are immediately useable, rapidly deployable and can ultimately offer a superior customer experience.”

Accessing Zoho’s Deep Tech Stack, Developers Can Easily Build Microservices and Apps With Capabilities Inherited Directly From Zoho’s Expansive Business App Portfolio

Austin, Texas — October 17, 2019 — Zoho Corporation, a global, privately held company that offers the most comprehensive suite of business software applications in the industry, today announced the release of Catalyst, the company’s visionary full-stack serverless platform for developers. Catalyst is a simple to use yet extremely powerful offering that allows developers to create and run microservices and applications. Catalyst gives developers access to the same underlying services and frameworks that power Zoho’s 45+ applications used by more than 45 million users around the world.

As a technology company, Zoho has built and vertically integrated all of the layers of its tech stack, from applications to app infrastructure to operating systems to network infrastructure all the way down to data centers. It has been a decades-long investment in technology, and now this reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure—and all that it promises—is being opened up to developers.

“The best craftsmen make their own tools. To create the comprehensive suite of business apps that we offer today, we had to build tools first. Those tools, along with the infrastructure we built over the years, is now available to developers through Catalyst,” said Raju Vegesna, Zoho’s Chief Evangelist. “With a strong belief in developer productivity, we’ve been offering several serverless capabilities to developers before it was even called serverless. Our commitment to end-to-end solutions has enabled us to offer a comprehensive suite of no-code, low-code, and pro-code tools.”

“For us, Catalyst is a business application platform that allows specific vertical applications to be quickly developed, tested, deployed, and supported, without having to worry about global standards, infrastructure, and support,” said Reg Horman, Director of IT and Systems for The Pexion Group, which provides advanced manufacturing capability from around the United Kingdom. “Zoho Catalyst sits at the core of our serverless strategy and gives us the flexibility to digitize several of our manufacturing processes.”

Catalyst has already empowered developers to build services and applications, including a bug-filing bridge application, an app used to import users into a CRM, a microservice for lead distribution, a data-cleansing microservice, and more. Here are some of the key features of Catalyst:

    Back-End as a Service

    • Catalyst provides scalable storage for both structured and unstructured data via easy-to-use relational databases and file stores.
    • Listeners enable developers to monitor Catalyst’s databases and file stores for changes in real time, while schedulers allow for the execution of functions at set-time intervals.

    Function as a Service

    • Over the past 13 years, more than 26 million functions have been built and executed on Zoho’s infrastructure by more than 200,000 developers. The expertise we’ve gained in this time is today being exposed to developers as Function as a Service.
    • Powerful server-side functions can be created in Catalyst by developers in their preferred programming languages, including Java, Node.js, and Python.
    • In addition to using the services provided by Zoho, developers can build their own microservices by utilizing Catalyst’s functions and persistent data stores.

    Microservices

    • Zoho is exposing some of the same functionality it uses to support its own apps and services as microservices in Catalyst. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and object detection are currently available, with more services such as anomaly detection and prediction analysis on the way.
    • In the coming months, Zoho will expose business-oriented services such as grammar and diction checking (powered by Zoho Writer) and document previews (powered by Zoho Docs). Zoho will expose more microservices through the platform.
    • Developers can use Catalyst to access other out-of-the-box services including sign-up and authentication, push notifications, search indexing, and emailing.

    Tools By Developers, For Developers

    • Catalyst’s unified interface drives developer productivity by enabling them to access all necessary tools from a single location.
    • Catalyst provides web and mobile SDKs and APIs for developers to easily build serverless applications.

  • Catchpoint Introduces Breakthrough Network Insights: Industry’s Only Solution Combining Complete Application and Network Layer Visibility

New Advanced Border Gateway Protocol Monitoring Combines with Domain Name System, Traceroute, Enterprise and Endpoint Monitoring, Enabling Companies to Maximize Their Digital Performance

New York, NY – (October 17, 2019) Catchpoint™, the leader in next-generation Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM), today announced Network Insights, an out-of-the-box network visibility solution that addresses a major visibility gap for IT teams responsible for delivering high performing digital services to customers and employees.

Network Insights combines new Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) monitoring with existing Domain Name System (DNS), Traceroute, Enterprise and Endpoint monitoring to provide full visibility into all network layers. This proactive network monitoring solution allows enterprises to eliminate blind spots created by the unstoppable migration of apps and services to the cloud and increasing use of the internet to deliver services to customers and employees.

Traditional network monitoring products aimed at legacy data center deployments are simply incompatible with modern digital delivery chains. They rely on expensive physical probes and appliances to collect and analyze network traffic.  In contrast, Catchpoint’s Network Insights offers enterprises instant network visibility, without deploying probes, appliances, software consoles or complex agents. The return on investment is immediate.

This immediate customer ROI and instant visibility is possible thanks to Catchpoint’s unique approach to monitoring. Network Insights is powered by Catchpoint’s Global Monitoring Network, the industry’s largest and most diverse monitoring infrastructure, deployed in more than 825 backbone, broadband, wireless, cloud, and last mile locations around the globe. This allows teams to proactively detect network-related issues and identify their root causes quickly from any geography where their end users are located, decreasing mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) and mean-time-to-detect (MTTD), therefore protecting the end-user experience.

“Cloud, SaaS and the Internet are incredible digital transformation enablers, but they create huge visibility gaps as enterprises are losing direct control of infrastructure and applications,” says Mehdi Daoudi, CEO and co-founder of Catchpoint.

“The network is often the culprit for degraded digital performance and network engineering teams need insights to understand how the network is affecting customer and employee experiences and, equally important, gain actionable data for improving performance. Integrated visibility across the end user, the application and the all network components can now finally provide the comprehensive network level view our customers require.”

Catchpoint’s Network Insights consists of the following four components:

    • BGP Monitoring: BGP is a protocol that manages how packets are routed across the internet via the exchange of information between edge routers.  Changes in BGP routes – either through malicious attacks or human error – can negatively affect service availability, directly impacting end users. Catchpoint’s advanced BGP monitoring quickly detects problems such as route hijacks, policy configuration issues, route flaps and peering issues, and surveys route health and events such as announcements or withdrawals.
    • DNS Monitoring: Catchpoint is the only vendor to offer two types of DNS monitoring: DNS Direct and DNS Experience. DNS Direct tests directly query name servers to provide availability data and ensure the responses delivered are accurate. DNS Experience tests emulate recursive nameservers to measure latency and availability of servers in the DNS resolution chain.
    • Traceroute Monitoring: Powered by the most widely distributed testing infrastructure in the industry, this feature provides visualizations of the network path (including multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments) from all over the globe with automated systems (AS) and router granularity. This allows teams to collect data from every hop so they can pinpoint root causes quickly. Understanding what is causing latency and/or packet loss helps network teams quickly solve router issues or peering problems to reduce end-user impact.
    • Enterprise and Endpoint Monitoring: Catchpoint Enterprise nodes are deployed within the enterprise network and provide bidirectional detection of performance problems with on-prem hosted applications or degraded employee experiences. Complementary to this, Catchpoint’s Endpoint monitoring reaches all the way into the employee device, collecting and analyzing from the employee’s browser and workstation, eliminating what is often the final visibility gap. Both provide the ability to run continuous traceroutes to collect and analyze network data.

“The proactive approach offered by Network Insights allows customers to not only prevent end users from experiencing network-based service outages, but also quickly rule out network issues during the triangulation phase, when every second counts,” continues Daoudi. “Alternative monitoring approaches, which don’t address problems at all network layers and only capture end-user performance data from a limited number of geographies or vantage points, lead to far too many performance blindspots.”
