  • Styra Introduces Rego Policy Builder for Declarative Authorization Service Making Open Policy Agent Accessible to More Teams

Furthers the Open Policy Agent and Styra vision of unified authorization by democratizing the creation, implementation and understanding of policy-as-code solutions

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — July 28, 2020 — Styra, Inc., the founders of Open Policy Agent (OPA) and leaders in cloud-native authorization, today announced Rego Policy Builder for the Styra Declarative Authorization Service (DAS). With Rego Policy Builder, DevOps/platform teams can more easily build authorization policy in Styra DAS, with a point-and-click interface that speeds development of new rules and provides a policy interface that is easy to read. Continuing the vision of the OPA founders, this latest enhancement to the OPA control plane empowers more teams to take advantage of the speed and security of policy-as-code for unified authorization.
The Styra DAS Rego Policy Builder provides a streamlined, graphical, purpose-built, point and click policy interface for OPA authorization rules. This visualization of policy-as-code enables DevOps, security and compliance teams to:

    • Take advantage of the speed and security of OPA, without investing up-front time to learn all the details of its custom policy language.
    • Speed development of sophisticated security, compliance and operational rules for modern cloud-native applications.
    • More easily communicate across teams to prove that security is in place, and built as intended.

Styra DAS is the company’s turnkey control plane for OPA, which provides a unified toolset and framework for policy across the cloud native stack. Styra DAS helps enterprises set up policy-as-code guardrails for two crucial layers of the new software stack, Kubernetes and microservices, to help customers mitigate risk, reduce errors and accelerate software development. Purpose-built to deploy and manage OPA at scale, Styra DAS is a single control plane for authorization both within applications and for the infrastructure they run on.

Accelerate Deployment of Open Policy Agent and Styra DAS Without Learning Custom Coding

Traditional cybersecurity solutions have been implemented by infrastructure and operations (I&O) teams. These teams are skilled at systems interoperability, network communication, as well as identifying and mitigating key risks to businesses, but coding and development aren’t typically a core part of their job. However, as network, storage and compute moves to software-defined delivery methods common to cloud-native application development, IT, I&O, security, compliance, governance and general line-of-business teams can become increasingly isolated from new technologies such as Kubernetes, microservices and other code-centric solutions.

The Styra DAS Rego Policy Builder is the latest step in bridging this gap. Styra solutions are all 100 percent policy-as-code and built on OPA, which provides developers, DevOps and platform teams the flexibility and control they need to implement guardrails in modern app environments.

Development and platform teams can still build policy directly in Rego, the OPA policy language, but this new graphical solution speeds deployment for teams less familiar with Rego’s specific syntax and eases communication with security, audit and compliance teams.

“From the first day we started building OPA, our vision was to provide unified authorization across the cloud-native stack. With this news today, we are further simplifying the on-boarding process of our policy-as-code solutions by giving teams a visual way to build authorization policy,” said Tim Hinrichs, co-creator of OPA and co-founder and CTO of Styra. “Rego Policy Builder is just the latest step in our journey towards our vision, and by democratizing policy, with a point and click interface, our customers save time, break down silos and build bridges to non development teams.”

    Availability

Styra DAS Rego Policy Builder is available now to all customers. Learn more about Styra here.

    About Styra

Styra enables enterprises to define, enforce and monitor policy across their cloud-native environments. With a combination of open source (Open Policy Agent) and commercial solutions (Declarative Authorization Service), Styra provides security, operations and compliance guardrails to protect applications, as well as the infrastructure they run on. Styra policy-as-code solutions lets developers, DevOps and security teams mitigate risks, reduce human error and accelerate application development. Learn more at styra.com.

  • Panzura Named ‘Market Leader’ in File-Based Cloud Storage and ‘Fast Mover’ in Unstructured Data Management by Gigaom

Technical capabilities, product roadmap, execution and ability to innovate drive Panzura’s highly rated recognition

CAMPBELL, Calif., July 30, 2020 — Panzura, creator of the fastest global cloud file system on the planet, was today named a ‘market leader and outperformer’ in file-based cloud storage and ‘challenger and fast mover’ in unstructured data

    management by Gigaom.

The two reports recognizing Panzura for its market leadership are:

Gigaom Radar for File-Based Cloud Storage

In this inaugural report authored by Analyst Enrico Signoretti, Panzura receives the highest combined scores for Key Criteria and Evaluation metrics and is noted as excelling in:

    • Maturity – the maturity and solidity of the product, user acceptance, and overall ecosystem sustainability.
    • Innovation – differentiation, innovative aspects of the product and overall vendor approach to the market.
    • Feature play – a focused solution with differentiating features and technical product aspects.

“Now more than ever, with hybrid cloud infrastructures and distributed organizations across the world, teams need the ability to access data from everywhere, seamlessly,” said Signoretti. “Panzura Freedom stands out for its tremendous capability to simplify teamwork among distributed team members who share files across different clouds and on-premises locations across the globe while keeping data under control.”

Panzura Freedom is the only cloud file services solution to offer real-time, cloud-based file operations that, when combined with military-grade security, enables remote team members to work on the same unstructured data sets, or even the same files, at the same time — without overwriting each other or making multiple data copies. Its immutable data architecture keeps cloud-based data secured and inherently protected from cyber-attacks. Built-in active archive, enterprise-grade backup, and disaster recovery maximize enterprise up-time and replace services typically provided by a third party — delivering measurable operational efficiencies and savings.

“Distributed teams need fast access to shared data, regardless of where they work,” said Jill Stelfox, chairman and CEO of Panzura. “However, the majority of enterprises rely on remote data centers for data storage, which undercuts employee productivity and ability to work from home. The longer this continues, the more IT stifles business user productivity and competitiveness, rather than driving it. We set out to solve the acute data access, control and collaboration issues that occur when enterprises move data files to the cloud and service globally distributed teams by creating the fastest cloud file service on the planet.”

Gigaom Radar for Unstructured Data Management

Immense business value is possible when turning unused data into something transformative to business outcomes. This report highlights the increasing importance for organizations to invest in solutions capable of delivering storage at scale and improving data searchability. Leveraging data stored in the system can minimize costs and increase control over critical security and compliance aspects.

Panzura’s Vizion.ai Machine Learning-based (ML) data analytics is rated a challenger and fast mover that, when combined with Panzura Freedom (and other filers), enables enterprise customers to search and audit their entire cloud file storage in seconds. This allows users to take control of the data and exploit hidden value quickly.

“We have come to a point where storing data safely and for a long time brings little benefit to an organization, and in fact can become a liability,” said Signoretti. “With the right processes and tools, organizations can turn data from a liability to an asset with unstructured data analytics solutions like Vizion.ai. Organizations can more readily understand what data is stored in the storage systems, no matter how complex and dispersed it is, mitigate risk and then exploit opportunities.”

The report further highlights other key Vizion.ai functionalities, including:

    • Scalability, ease of use, and efficient unstructured data management capabilities
    • Rapid deployment, ease of expansion through a series of applications available in the marketplace
    • Solid support for ElasticSearch and Kibana
    • A high variety of use cases and possibilities

Trusted by enterprises like Datatility, Gensler, Goop, Barton Willmore and phoenixNAP, the cloud management dashboard provides a complete view of the entire cloud network, with powerful search and auditing capabilities, security event detection and prevention, and data management compliance with a one-click ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) stack deployment.

    About Panzura

Panzura is the fastest global cloud file system on the planet and the leader in collaborative multi-cloud productivity and data management for global enterprises. It manages hundreds of petabytes of data in the cloud for companies in the healthcare, financial services, media and entertainment, gaming, and architectural, engineering and construction industries as well as government agencies. • ScaleOut Software Announces the Release of ScaleOut StateServer® Pro

Next-Level Product Integrates Data Analytics with In-Memory Data Storage to Extract More Business Value from Fast-Changing Data

BELLEVUE, Wash – ScaleOut Software today announced ScaleOut StateServer® Pro, a new software product release that adds integrated data analytics to the company’s battle-tested ScaleOut StateServer® in-memory data grid (IMDG) and distributed cache to help businesses gain more value from their fast-changing data.

For more than fifteen years, ScaleOut StateServer has demonstrated technology leadership, peak performance, reliability, and industry-leading ease of use at hundreds of enterprise sites around the world. This software product stores fast-changing data in a wide variety of applications, including ecommerce, financial services, online learning, airline reservations, gaming and much more.

ScaleOut StateServer Pro builds on this powerful foundation and takes in-memory data storage and distributed caching to the next level with integrated, data-parallel analytics. This advanced capability enables applications to extract immediate insights that identify issues and new opportunities, increasing the business value of their fast-changing data.

“With the release of ScaleOut StateServer Pro, we are pleased to make powerful advanced features available to our ScaleOut StateServer users,” said Dr. William L. Bain, founder and CEO of ScaleOut Software. “We are excited to offer the latest ‘big data’ capabilities with integrated, easy to use APIs that enable our customers to uncover important new insights in their data.”

    Key ScaleOut StateServer Pro Benefits

Operational systems manage huge workloads and need to be able to instantly access fast-changing data. With ScaleOut StateServer’s IMDG, businesses can eliminate database bottlenecks, dramatically reduce access latency, while automatically scaling throughput on demand. ScaleOut StateServer Pro extends these capabilities by integrating a software-based compute engine that enables applications to instantly analyze data stored within the IMDG.

    Key benefits include:

    • Immediate Insights on Fast-Changing Data: Applications in many industries can inspect stored data for patterns and trends and take faster action than before. For example, ecommerce applications can examine shopping carts to determine the most popular products; online learning applications can analyze session information to determine which students need extra help; and reservation systems can spot issues needing attention, such as emerging travel delays.
    • Automatic, Scalable Performance for Fast Results: ScaleOut StateServer Pro analyzes data within the IMDG to take advantage of the grid’s scalable computing power that combines the work of multiple servers. Linearly scalable throughput ensures consistently fast results even when managing large workloads.
    • Easy to Use APIs: Straightforward, object-oriented APIs in C# and Java, such as a distributed version of Microsoft’s popular Parallel.ForEach API, make it easy for developers to analyze large volumes of stored data in parallel within the IMDG. To maximize ease of use, ScaleOut StateServer Pro automatically ships application code to the IMDG, runs the analysis, and returns aggregated results back to client applications.
    • Minimum Data Processing Overhead: Because analysis algorithms are run within the IMDG, stored data does not need to first be queried and then transferred over the network to a client for processing. This minimizes network usage and avoids overloading the client’s CPU, especially for large workloads.

  • Pypestream Introduces Conversational Ads, Delivering Engaging and Personalized Experiences

Upending traditional display ads, Conversational Ads move customers through sales and marketing funnels more effectively, creating dynamic, feature-rich interactions

July 28, 2020 – NEW YORK – Pypestream, the leading conversational AI platform with all-in-one cloud messaging, announces Conversational Ads, an immersive brand experience driven by in-ad engagements. Conversational Ads transform present-day display ads by incorporating conversational AI alongside rich features like video, carousels, and surveys, creating authentic two-way messaging interactions between consumers and brands at scale.

Pypestream’s patents on ad unit technology provided a foundation for this breakthrough in serving display ads as conversational experiences. This new sophistication shifts the display ad paradigm and takes ad engagement and personalization to a new level.

Brands that implement Conversational Ads can tailor experiences to deliver personalized recommendations on a wide range of topics, from insurance policy quotes to eCommerce product promotions to streaming content subscription packages. These feature-rich interactions are powered with military-grade security and strict compliance with CCPA and GDPR. Conversational Ads can be targeted across thousands of publisher sites to both mobile and desktop devices.

“Banner blindness has forced brands to make their ads bigger, bolder and brighter. Unfortunately, this strategy has exemplified the ‘law of diminishing returns’ in that consumers are just getting more annoyed and ‘turned off,” said Richard Smullen, CEO at Pypestream. “The answer is not to get louder but to get smarter, to get more personal, and with that, better understand the consumers and their intent. Conversational ads powered by AI achieve this at scale and as these new ad units gain adoption, the entire advertising landscape will shift to ongoing dialogues.”

According to a report by Kargo, display ads have an 80% viewability rate but are only looked at an average of 1.9% of the total time a person is on a webpage. Pypestream Conversational Ads solve the engagement challenge by delivering personalized ad content based on customer data and interactions. Proving this, an early customer saw a 25% increase in engagement when serving Conversational Ads compared to industry average click-through rates for display advertising. By upending the traditionally one-sided experience, Conversational Ads can foster organic conversations at the exact right moment and help customers move through sales and marketing funnels.

“When it comes to engaging with advertising, power lies in the hands of consumers. People are savvier than ever about interacting with ads on their terms and timetable. They want personalization and customer-centricity — and importantly, they want humanity from brands and an experience that’s conversational,” said Michael Kassan, Chairman and CEO of MediaLink. “Pypestream’s approach to reshaping customer interaction will help brands effectively forge that kind of relationship with people.”

Brands implementing Conversational Ads can optimize and personalize customer journeys with Pypestream’s Dovetail™ AI, which recognizes and adapts to tone, sentiment and even emojis. Dovetail’s natural language understanding capabilities enable conversations to cover anything from product questions to pricing and paths to purchase. To learn more about Pypestream’s Conversational Ads, combining digital ad experiences with conversational AI, visit Pypestream.com.

Tricentis’ SAP partnership is based on its market position as a leader in automated testing and proven track record helping businesses using SAP solutions to achieve fast SAP releases.

The Tricentis platform will be sold through the SAP global sales force and channel as an SAP Solution Extension. It will also be integrated with SAP ALM offerings. Additionally, Tricentis’ base-level test automation capability will be embedded in SAP’s Solution Manager and SAP Cloud ALM.

Tricentis helps businesses using SAP solutions wherever they are on their journey to the intelligent enterprise – from updating ERP applications to consolidating solutions to migrating to SAP S/4HANA®. Because traditional testing methods are the number one barrier to software delivery  and represent nearly 30 percent of IT budgets , Tricentis reduces uncertainty when upgrading SAP applications, while simultaneously shrinking the time and costs involved.

As the volume and velocity of SAP updates have increased in recent years, customers are finding their traditional testing methods require significant manual effort and can be a challenge to deploy in a timely manner. Tricentis’ SAP partnership enables businesses using SAP solutions to use Tricentis’ continuous testing solutions to keep up with the accelerated pace of updates.

“With a next generation continuous testing platform, businesses using SAP solutions can unleash the full power of the intelligent enterprise,” said Sandeep Johri, Tricentis CEO. “Tricentis is partnering with SAP to help customers keep up with the rapidly increasing pace of SAP releases. With this partnership, customers can turbocharge their SAP releases with a modern, continuous testing platform that helps to eliminate testing approaches that are not only slow and costly, but ultimately ineffective.”

“Businesses using SAP solutions will benefit tremendously from our partnership with Tricentis,” said Marc Thier, SVP of Application Lifecycle Management at SAP. “Through this partnership, we will help ensure that the adoption of SAP software is accelerated, customers get the most out of their SAP solutions, and costs for continuous testing of cloud and hybrid landscapes are significantly reduced.”

Through the partnership, SAP plans to introduce the following new solutions to help customers modernize testing and accelerate releases:

    • SAP Change Impact Analysis by Tricentis – Provides AI-powered impact analysis that identifies potential risk to business processes after an SAP software update. This enables customers to focus testing on areas of highest risk and deliver high quality releases with dramatically reduced testing effort.
    • SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing by Tricentis – Delivers end-to-end business process testing spanning SAP and third-party applications. It includes automation of up to 90% of tests to help ensure the entire chain is tested and everything will continue to function properly after an update.
    • SAP Load Testing by Tricentis – Optimizes the SAP user experience with scalable, on-demand performance testing for SAP Fiori® and modern cloud applications, such as SAP® SuccessFactors® and SAP® Ariba® solutions.

Through the agreement, customers will be able to experience the benefits of modern test automation, including increasing testing speed by 10x, reducing costs by 50%, and providing 90% risk reduction.

“SAP made a great decision in choosing Tricentis,” said Venkata Thirtala, VP Supply Chain, Order to Cash and Procure to Pay IT Solutions at McKesson Corporation. “This partnership between SAP and Tricentis will provide a best-in-class solution, allowing us to further enable faster innovation, deploy releases without disrupting core business processes, and adopt a modern testing portfolio which keeps pace with today’s rapidly changing business needs.”

“We adopted the Tricentis platform and it has been instrumental in our digital transformation and our migration to SAP S/4HANA.” said Sujata Dutta, Vice President at Vodafone. “We have not only been able to speed everything up dramatically, but also were able to significantly reduce our business risk and costs.
