  • BMC Research Finds Global Organizations Operate at Less Than 40 Percent of Their Digital Potential

New data highlights increases in technology investments to support Adaptive Cybersecurity over the next two years

HOUSTON, March 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — BMC, a global leader in software solutions for the Autonomous Digital Enterprise, today announced the full results of its global survey for enterprise IT, “The Autonomous Digital Enterprise: A Strategic Approach to Measuring and Improving Digital Competitiveness” and availability of the Autonomous Digital Enterprise (ADE) Index interactive tool. The ADE Index tool is designed to help an enterprise measure its digital competitiveness and identify areas of opportunity, with a documented framework for future success.

BMC commissioned 451 Research, an S&P Global company, to assess the market perception and state of preparedness needed to navigate an era of intelligence, automation, and autonomy to ultimately become an ADE. Conducted in late 2020, the survey sourced insights from 1,200 business and IT decision-makers across more than 20 industries and 11 countries, and in organizations that had at least 500 employees with annual revenue over $100 million.

    High-level insights include:

    • Global enterprises currently practice about two-fifths of what is needed to function as an ADE. Although all operating models and technology tenets of an ADE are currently practiced by the surveyed organizations, the top three enterprise focus areas draw the majority of the investment and include becoming a Data-Driven Business, Optimized Technology Buying, and Digital Business Domains.
    • The Global ADE Index is projected to increase from 39.3% to 46.1% over the next two years indicating a recognition from companies around the world to invest more heavily in enterprise technology solutions that increase digital competitiveness.
    • Looking forward two years, the top enterprise focus areas continue to include Data-Driven Business with an added focus on Adaptive Cybersecurity and a Transcendent Customer Experience. Tech-Savvy Corporate Functions was a close fourth demonstrating that human and digital skills need to align rapidly.
    • Latin America (LATAM) respondents reported a projected ADE Index score increase to 52% in two years – the biggest jump across all regions – signifying a strong willingness to make investments in technology and process to become an ADE.

Assessing digital maturity to run and reinvent
An ADE is the future state of business, one that comprises intelligent, interconnected, technology-enabled, value-creating systems that minimizes manual effort to capitalize on human creativity, skills, and intellect across the enterprise. The ADE Index tool gives organizations a way of measuring their own digital maturity and sophistication against the original cohort of respondents and opens the dialogue on how to improve digital competitiveness across the ADE operating model and technology tenets.

“The ADE Index developed from this research comes at a pivotal moment for the global enterprise landscape, as attaining operational excellence through automated technologies is an immediate necessity,” said Carl Lehmann, Senior Research Analyst at 451 Research. “This research shows that areas like security are an investment priority and the ability to measure oneself against peers can be advantageous to an enterprise’s deliberate integration of what’s needed to adapt and compete.”

“2020 forced nearly every enterprise worldwide to accelerate their digital transformation efforts, and as they hit the reset button on priorities, budgets, and timelines organization-wide, we all know that being digitally competitive is now mandatory,” said Ram Chakravarti, Chief Technology Officer at BMC. “This research illustrates that companies are just scratching the surface of their potential as an ADE. Coupled with our ADE Index tool, we’re excited to share a practical way for an enterprise to assess where they are in their ADE journey, and to ultimately help them create a clear path forward to thrive and compete well into the future.”

  • Skuid Enters Next Phase of Growth with New CEO

Skuid hires experienced SaaS leader Ryan Niemann as CEO to scale its mission to humanize enterprise software

Chattanooga, Tenn. – March 4, 2021 – Skuid, a leading toolkit to accelerate custom Salesforce app design, development and adoption, today announced that it hired Ryan Niemann, former CEO of Cirrus Insight, as CEO to help drive the growth of the company and execute its mission. Skuid founder and former CEO Ken McElrath will transition to a new chief strategy officer role.

“Our mission at Skuid is to humanize enterprise software. This leadership expansion and transition will help us accelerate app adoption, innovation and agility across even more organizations around the world,” said Ken McElrath, founder and chief strategy officer. “I could not be more stoked for Ryan to join the team, because he brings a broad set of skills and experiences that will make a significant, positive impact for our employees, customers and shareholders. Ryan is extremely qualified to step into the CEO role at Skuid, and I look forward to supporting him in my new role as chief strategy officer.”

McElrath will work closely with Niemann and will continue to play an integral role in the strategic direction and growth of Skuid. In his new role, Ken will continue to lead the R&D teams, including product, software engineering, and technology operations. His work will focus on product innovation, leading new long-term initiatives, and exploring additional growth strategies for the company.

According to recent Gartner research, the low-code development market is projected to total $13.8 billion in 2021, an increase of 22.6% from 2020. The need for companies to stay agile and digitize critical business operations has grown as a result of an increasingly remote and fragmented workforce. Low-and no-code capabilities that support remote work functions, such as digital forms, workflow automation, and digital portals and communities, are and will continue to be in high demand. As this surge continues, this leadership transition will position Skuid for rapid growth.

The recent growth of Skuid has demonstrated the reality of these market trends as evidenced by a very strong fourth quarter of 2020 followed quickly by several great new customer additions so far in the first quarter of 2021. In the past year, the company has expanded its go-to-market teams, hired a best-in-class leadership team, including a new chief revenue officer, chief financial officer, chief customer officer, VP of marketing, and a new executive chairman of its board of directors. Skuid had a major product release in Q3 of last year and will continue working on its aggressive product roadmap, with a sizable new release due later this quarter.

“Our customers need agile business systems to innovate and grow in an increasingly complex business, technology and economic environment. I am excited to lead an exceptional team of experts and amplify the customer-focused strategies already put in place,” said Ryan Niemann, CEO of Skuid. “I am honored to take a founder-led company to the next stage of growth.”

Under Niemann’s leadership, Skuid will have even more capacity to accelerate growth and stay customer-focused. Niemann has deep experience in B2B SaaS leadership, CRM productivity, inorganic growth, and leading companies in the growth-stage. Niemann joins Skuid from Cirrus Insight, one of the largest Salesforce independent software vendors, where he oversaw a merger with Zynbit in August of 2020. He has worked extensively with global systems integrators and partners and is deeply familiar with the Salesforce ecosystem. Niemann’s immediate and ongoing focus will be accelerating the growth of the company to drive value for Skuid customers.

“We are delighted to welcome Ryan as our next CEO,” said Dan Dal Degan, executive chairman at Skuid. “Our results from 2020 prove that Skuid is solving real problems for customers and that it’s time to scale. Expanding our strong leadership team to drive this opportunity forward with haste will help us capitalize on this momentum. Ryan has a demonstrated record of success, the experience needed to help us scale, and matches our cultural values perfectly.”

    About Skuid

Admins and developers dramatically increase app adoption and innovation with low-code, Lightning-native tools from Skuid. Thousands of builders have used Skuid to create custom digital experiences for millions of users across dozens of countries, dramatically increasing adoption and innovation—up to 10 times faster.  Discover the #1 toolkit to accelerate custom Salesforce app design, development and adoption at skuid.com.

  • Siren 11.1: 4x Faster Link Analysis, Auditing, Search and now Compatible with Elastic Cloud

GALWAY, IRELAND, March 4, 2021 – Siren, a leading provider of Investigative Intelligence analytics, today announced the release of Siren 11.1. The latest version of Siren focuses on ease of use and control, with new functionality simplifying many day-to-day tasks for the analyst and business user. Usability has been addressed with the addition of a new Search UI which is also compatible with mobile devices. In terms of organizational control, a new deep audit feature is available as well as support for end user certificate security. Finally, Siren announces that the platform can now be deployed on top of Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) and Elastic Cloud Service.

Dr. Giovanni Tummarello, Founder and Chief Product Officer, at Siren, said: “In version 11.1 we are introducing features high up on customer request lists such as deep Auditing, Elastic Cloud and ECE compatibility and the Siren Search interface. At the same time, we are paving the way for future versions with a complete rewrite of the Link analysis stack – which is now over 4x faster on average.”

    Key Features of 11.1

    Audit
The Siren Investigate session audit feature allows you to log and perform internal audits on sessional user data. In 11.1 this feature is now more business friendly, making it easier to access, read and understand user behaviour at a much higher level than existing audit logs. Also, 11.1 introduces the ability to know if an analyst was ever shown a specific bit of information.

    Siren “Search” interface
The Siren platform provides full-text search with support for misspellings, phonetics, relevance ranking, and highlighting. 11.1 introduces a new optional “search first” experience targeting users who need quick access to data in a simple format, on their web, phone, or tablet. Starting from a simple search string, users get simplified access to records and can discover and explore other connected entities coherently to what is visible in the main Siren Investigate environment.

New Link analysis engine: 4 to 8 times faster
Investigators need link analysis to see and explore connections between records. Siren’s built-in link analysis allows the exploration of every record. This core capability has been rewritten in Siren 11.1 and now performs 4 to 8 times faster across most functionality from user driven node expansions to graph algorithms such as shortest paths. Also, a new graphic toolbar offers easier accessibility and new layout functions.

    ECE & Elastic Cloud Support
11.1 introduces support for running on top of the Elastic.co partner product “Elastic Cloud” and “Elastic Cloud Enterprise”.  This is made possible by the latest version of “Federate” – a Siren Elasticsearch plugin which offer real time data joins and other capabilities – which can now be successfully uploaded and installed on Elastic Cloud and ECE.

    User Certificate Support
Easier support for end user certificates.

  • Value Stream Management Consortium Formed to Help Organizations Worldwide Deliver Customer Value Through the Adoption and Advancement of Value Stream Management

Consortium Brings Together Vendors and Practitioners to Drive Value Stream Management Standards and Innovation Through Leadership and Community

DENVER, March 3, 2021 – Leaders of the software development industry today announced the formation of the Value Stream Management Consortium (VSMC). Founded by leading technology providers, Digital.ai, HCL Software, Plutora, ServiceNow, and Tasktop, the VSMC charter is to help organizations around the world improve performance and drive customer value through the adoption of value stream management (VSM).

Still in its infancy, the purpose of VSM is to delight customers by delivering software products that provide and create value for them. VSM achieves this through a comprehensive software lifecycle orchestration process that provides value stream managers, release managers, DevOps managers, product managers, and leadership with the data, visibility, and problem-solving tools necessary to continuously improve software development and delivery.

“At this stage in the development of value stream management it’s important that we create and foster a community of experts to further VSM practices, innovation, and adoption,” said Helen Beal, Chair of the Value Stream Management Consortium. “By creating this community, we will increase and accelerate the use of VSM, while developing and instilling best practices and standards. And, ultimately, just like the practice of VSM itself, we will help deliver the utmost value to industry practitioners.”

    About The Consortium

The consortium will serve as a central hub of information and education pertaining to the practice and adoption of value stream management. Ongoing research will inform how organizations measure value and become higher performing as a result. Training and certifications will support member collaboration worldwide and help make VSM the industry standard way of working.

The Consortium’s inaugural research offering will be the `The State of Value Stream Management Report’ which will measure how teams are applying value stream management principles, practices, and metrics to influence their value stream management outcomes. The survey will be launched today, and its findings will be available in early May.

The Board of Directors is comprised of Chair, Helen Beal and representatives from the founding companies, including Richard Knaster, Chief Scientist, Value Stream Management at Digital.ai; Brian Muskoff, Director of Product Management and Development at HCL Software; Jeff Keyes, VP of Product at Plutora; Rohit Jainendra, VP and GM for ITBM and DevOps, at ServiceNow; and Neelan Choksi, President and COO at Tasktop. Advisors to the Board of Directors include Alistair Watkins, Bryan Finster; and Steve Pereira.

The VSMC is a professional membership association open to all. Members will receive the latest updates and unique learning opportunities evolving out of the growing VSM ecosystem, as well as participation in a fast-growing community of peers.

Become a member.  Visit the website.

Contribute to the State of Value Stream Management research. Complete the survey.

Comments from the Board of Directors

“Lean enterprises perform better and deliver value more reliably, faster, and with higher quality and lower cost. They do this by applying value stream management to maximize flow, accelerate innovation, and improve value delivery efficiency and effectiveness, said Richard Knaster, Chief Scientist, Value Stream Management at Digital.ai. “Put simply, you need to go from managing projects to guiding long-lived value streams that focus on creating business outcomes vs. outputs. The VSMC will help organizations reach the next level in their Lean, Agile and DevOps practices to accelerate digital transformation and enable continuous delivery of customer value.”

“Software delivery is prime to make another leap and the timing of the Value Stream Management Consortium could not be better. We are excited to be part of this organization as the industry starts to put VSM theories into practice to improve productivity, business results and quality of work life for tech teams across the world,” said Brian Muskoff, Director of Product Management and Development, HCL DevOps. “Over the last decade, I’ve worked with a wide variety of industries and organization types – big and small – to help deliver their DevOps initiatives, and one thing stands out in all of those discussions; value stream management is the practice that will advance DevOps into its next phase. With so many different applications and ways that organizations can take advantage of value stream management, I am eager to see what shape the VSM market takes, and how we at the VSMC can help.”

“Guiding any organization through a digital transformation journey is a daunting task and can feel like you’re being pulled in a million directions,” said Jeff Keyes, VP of product, Plutora. “Working with the VSMC and emphasizing the importance of the tools we provide to a wider market will only help me with my most important task at hand, delivering value to our customers. The customer is key, and value stream management is how software development teams are able to consistently meet their evolving needs.”

“Maximizing value from software investments is critical for businesses in order to deliver great experiences for their customers and employees,” said RJ Jainendra, VP and GM for ITBM and DevOps, ServiceNow. “By partnering with the VSMC, ServiceNow is furthering the adoption of VSM to improve end-to-end value delivery processes, ultimately assisting organizations with driving impactful digital transformations.”

“Every CIO of a large, traditional company thrust into digital transformation shares the same struggle: quantifying and optimizing the value of their investments. Technical metrics, proxy metrics, simply do not translate to business outcomes. The industry requires a common language, standardized measurements and unified tools or many costly digital transformation efforts will fail,” said Neelan Choksi, President and COO at Tasktop. “Value Stream Management (VSM) transforms software delivery from the top, giving CIOs insights needed to adapt to market dynamics and optimize based on business outcomes, rather than process, while also providing actionable information for the IT teams doing the work. The VSMC will help to set and accelerate these standards, propelling enterprises into a future of innovation, without friction.”

About the Value Stream Management Consortium

The Value Stream Management Consortium is the world’s leading organization creating, curating, and collaborating on research about the frameworks and principles of Value Stream Management. The VSMC delivers guidance around leveraging the best of Lean, Agile, DevOps, Systems Thinking, and beyond combined with world class technical solutions, integrations, and automation to accelerate the performance of organizations across the globe. • InMotion Hosting Announces the General Availability of its On-Demand Private Cloud Powered by OpenStack

InMotion Hosting (IMH), a Silver Founding Member of the Open Infrastructure Foundation (OIF), launches a platform that supports the rapid deployment of small OpenStack private clouds.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 24, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — InMotion Hosting establishes a foothold in the IaaS and Private Cloud markets by announcing the general availability of Flex Metal Cloud IaaS. Flex Metal Cloud offers an On-Demand Private Cloud powered by OpenStack, an open source infrastructure platform

Built for enterprise infrastructure, traditionally it has been difficult for smaller teams to spin up small OpenStack clouds due to the large investment needed in time and resources. InMotion Hosting, whose core philosophy revolves around open source technologies, took up this challenge and built an on-demand private cloud powered by OpenStack and Ceph. Now, building and deploying small clouds on OpenStack has been made trivial and accessible to smaller teams.

“We attribute much of InMotion Hosting’s success to open source. Since inception, our goal has been to continuously improve our technology, tools, and customers’ experience. Flex Metal Cloud IaaS continues this culture of innovation,” says Todd Robinson, President and Co-founder of InMotion Hosting. “Our teams have been working diligently over the last year to make OpenStack easily accessible for smaller IT Teams. Typical pain points such as cost, resource allocation, and risk of failure are no longer an issue with our On-Demand Private Cloud. We have made OpenStack clouds trivial to deploy and easy to scale up and down on-demand.”

Flex Metal Cloud starts off with a 3 server hyper-converged cloud core and can be scaled easily to hundreds of servers, thousands of VMs and petabytes of storage. The cloud core can be deployed in under 45 minutes and starts at under $700/mo. Additional compute and storage can also be added in minutes.

IMH has taken a privacy-first approach with Flex Metal Cloud, with the customer having full governance and control over their hardware. Up-front transparent pricing, ability to set budgets, and usage-based billing gives greater control to customers over cloud IT costs. Flex Metal Cloud is currently available out of InMotion Hosting’s Washington, D.C. data center with a roadmap to expand into multiple locations.

InMotion Hosting plans to work collaboratively with the Open Infrastructure Foundation (OIF) and other members of the open infrastructure community to continue to add new features and functionality to Flex Metal Cloud in order to further simplify private cloud deployments, increase infrastructure flexibility and to make it a viable and cost-effective open source choice over the mega public clouds.

“Flex Metal Cloud provides on-demand private infrastructure, which brings cloud fundamentals like elasticity and usage billing to the cloud deployment itself. It’s awesome to see InMotion Hosting’s latest product use OpenStack to combine the benefits of public cloud and managed private cloud, powered by open infrastructure,” says Thierry Carrez, VP of Engineering, OpenInfra Foundation.

Open Infrastructure Foundation’s (OIF) goal is to build an open infrastructure for the next decade by solving hard infrastructure problems with larger markets. There are new demands being placed on infrastructure that are being driven by modern use cases such as: containers, AI, machine learning, 5G, NFV, and edge computing. OIF is building a community to write open-source software that addresses these infrastructure markets. The Foundation wants to ensure that the solutions to these demands are developed in the open, using the same transparent and proven approach to open source.

“The mission of the Open Infrastructure Foundation is to build the next decade of open infrastructure software, through a community of more than 100,000 members who know how to build software like OpenStack that runs in production,” says Mark Collier, COO, OpenInfra Foundation. “Solving the problem of making dedicated infrastructure available to smaller organizations that might lack the confidence to deploy on their own is something InMotion has designed Flex Metal Cloud to address, and we’re excited to learn about their experiences implementing OpenStack Ironic as a service for bare metal, and bring those learnings back to the community.”

Flex Metal Cloud has been in beta testing for a few months now with customers trying out Proof of Concept (PoC) Clouds. With the announcement of the general availability, anyone can now purchase and deploy a small private cloud in minutes. Free timed trials are also available. • Delphix and GenRocket Team Up to Improve Software Quality

Combining privacy-compliant full datasets from Delphix, with data subset and synthetic data from GenRocket, creates a comprehensive dataset for complex enterprise application testing.

Ojai, CA, March 02, 2021 –(PR.com)– Delphix, the pioneer in programmable data infrastructure, and GenRocket, the Test Data Automation (TDA) technology leader, have announced a technology alliance designed to fulfill the needs of enterprise customers who desire a comprehensive test data solution that improves software quality.

Uncovering software issues early in the development cycle keeps poor-quality code from moving down the pipeline where it becomes increasingly difficult to discover and expensive to fix, or worse, escapes into production. In “The Cost of Poor Software Quality in the US: A 2020 Report,” CISQ estimates a staggering $2.08 trillion was lost last year alone because of software defects, fragile legacy systems, cybersecurity failures and failed IT projects.

Enterprise applications are vast and complex and finding defects requires sophisticated test plans that cover a staggering array of use cases, transactions and functionality. To create rapid feedback loops on the quality of an application as it passes through testing stages, Agile development teams have shifted left by testing early and often. Maintaining a continuous flow of quality data to test environments is essential to ensure complete test coverage.

Delphix fills a critical gap in the DevOps toolchain with automated provisioning of production-quality test data, delivering complete, masked virtual copies of production databases to test environments, in minutes. GenRocket’s complementary capabilities provide data subsets and a patented synthetic data solution for application development and test environments.

The end-to-end test data solution ensures development environments can thoroughly exercise all data-related permutations and branches of an enterprise application, edge cases that are known to exist, and net-new database schema or functionality that have no production data yet.

“At Delphix, we believe every company has the opportunity to dramatically accelerate software release cycles and improve software quality by automating the process of delivering ephemeral, compliant, data-ready environments across the multi-cloud,” said Dan Graves, CTO at Delphix. “The combination of full data sets from Delphix with synthetic data generation capabilities from GenRocket gives our joint customers the best of both worlds when it comes to testing with data.”

“At the heart of this partnership is absolute alignment of vision for the future of test data management: A fusion of data virtualization with synthetic data generation to deliver unprecedented test coverage, quality and speed,” noted Garth Rose CEO and Co-founder of GenRocket. “We are excited to partner with Delphix to deliver best-in-class solutions for realizing that vision.”
