  • Next-Generation Technologies Drive Widespread Adoption of Modern IT Service Delivery Solutions

New industry study explores the State of IT Service Delivery and importance of monitoring for optimized performance

    LogicMonitor, Jul 18, 2018

Santa Barbara, Calif., July 18, 2018 — Cloud-to-the-edge, digital transformation (DX), artificial intelligence (AI), and the proliferation of the subscription economy will impact the future of IT service delivery according to The State of IT Service Delivery Survey conducted by LogicMonitor. Driving this shift will be next-generation technologies (NGTs) and performance monitoring.

LogicMonitor, the leading SaaS-based performance monitoring platform for Enterprise IT, sponsored the survey which polled 100 IT service delivery professionals at the ServiceNow Knowledge18 event, and current LogicMonitor customers to explore this topic. “Our customers continue to ask for guidance in planning their IT service delivery strategies,” said Jeff Behl, Chief Product Officer for LogicMonitor. “So we launched this survey to understand the dynamics fueling service delivery, and to provide our customers and prospects with the insights they need to plan for this shift.”

    Next-Generation Technologies Lead the Way

Survey participants highlighted impactful NGTs that will fuel their ability to provide quality IT service delivery:

    • 60 percent believe cloud-to-the-edge, data processing at the edge of the network, will improve IT efficiency
    • 60 percent also believe the proliferation of the subscription economy will impact their IT service strategy
    • AI will have a major impact as well according to 57 percent of surveyed respondents
    • 56 percent believe DX will have significant implications

    Monitoring is Critical

Seventy-six percent of respondents cite the delivery of a better customer experience as a key factor driving their IT Service Delivery investment. “Customer experience can be quickly degraded by faulty systems or errors produced by a poor NGT integration, so performance monitoring is crucial,” said Steve Francis, Founder and Chief Evangelist, LogicMonitor. “Organizations need an end-to-end monitoring solution that automatically monitors both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, as well as services, applications and even IoT devices to truly understand what’s going on, so they can implement and leverage these NGTs.”

Eighty-four percent of survey respondents listed the monitoring of devices, applications, and services as critical to successful IT service delivery. This makes sense since effective monitoring allows for improved efficiency, better decision-making, and a better customer experience.

Survey respondents also identified the core types of monitoring most important to IT service delivery: infrastructure performance monitoring, application performance monitoring, and log management. Finally, respondents described two core components of a monitoring solution: it should provide context-rich alerts so the response process is straightforward and efficient (82 percent), and automated synchronization between the monitoring platform and the CMDB (77 percent). “The LogicMonitor platform was built to monitor the technologies customers are using today and the NGTs they’ll implement to future-proof IT investment,” said Behl.

  • Rookout lets developers remotely debug live Electron apps while they run

Tel Aviv – July 17, 2018 – Rookout, the rapid production debugging company, announced today its remote live debugging solution for Electron. The baked-in tool lets software engineers get full visibility into the data and code context from a live Electron app on the end-user’s machine, instead of relying on local testing.

Electron is one of the most popular frameworks for building desktop apps for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Originally created by GitHub, it’s also used by leading vendors such as Slack, Discord and WordPress to make more feature-rich desktop versions of their browser-based webapps. Electron apps are quick to build and typically go through many rapid deployments directly to end-users’ computers.

Electron, despite being based on web technologies, has to face the challenges of desktop software; every user’s computer is its own unique ‘production environment’, making troubleshooting tricky, especially at a distance. Electron apps often interact with devices on the user’s system like webcams, microphones or more exotic inputs, increasing the possibility of unusual bugs.

Traditionally, debugging Electron apps means relying on users’ bug reports and exception management tools to report problems, and then trying to recreate the production environment on the developers’ local computers. Often, though, an unusual issue won’t be reproduced, making it very challenging to identify the cause.

Using Rookout, a software team can get debugger-level visibility from an Electron desktop app running live on an end-user’s computer. With Rookout’s IDE, a developer can remotely set non-breaking ‘breakpoints’ to see the full state of the live app or any variable state at any point in the code’s execution, while the app runs as normal.

Rookout’s solution means software companies can debug their Electron apps live and remotely. They can be alerted to a problem by an exception manager like Sentry (Rookout can also send alerts to Sentry itself), trace the issue in the live software using Rookout in record time, and then develop and push a fix as usual, with no need to install any extra software to the end-user’s computer or send anyone on-site.

“End-user software like Electron has to run in literally millions of distinct production environments,” said Or Weis, CEO and co-founder of Rookout. “Combined with a very rapid deployment cycle, it’s challenging to see exactly what’s going on inside a single install or reproduce an exotic bug. Rookout brings instant visibility to Electron, giving developers an unprecedented deep access to the full state of an app on an end-user’s computer, with just a few clicks of a mouse.”

Aidoc, which makes a healthcare AI solution for analyzing medical images, uses an Electron-based app to deliver their solution to doctors.

“Aidoc’s app runs on a hospitals’ local network and doesn’t constantly send data back to our servers, so it’s not always easy to trace a bug for a client on a different continent,” said Guy Reiner, VP R&D at Aidoc.

“Rookout makes it possible to find bugs without spending hours on log-collection and trying to simulate the unique real-world environment of a particular hospital network”.

“Desktop software was the classic example of something that couldn’t really be debugged in production because every install was different,” said Liran Haimovitch, Rookout CTO, and co-founder. “Being able to remotely debug live Electron apps means developers can find and fix bugs quickly, freeing up R&D resources to work on creating new features instead.”

    About Rookout

Rookout is the Rapid production debugging solution which collects data on-demand from live code and pipelines it immediately to any destination, such as alerting and monitoring tools.

With Rookout’s real-time instrumentation technology, a company can tackle bugs and issues without any need for coding, re-deploying or restarting the application. Rookout currently supports Python, JVM, and NodeJS on all cloud environments, including serverless applications.

  • Rollout.io Ends the Feature Delivery Guessing Game, Is First to Provide Full Visibility Into Production Feature Deployment

With Rollout Visibility, Companies Scaling Up Feature Flag Usage Can Now Eliminate a Major Barrier to Growth and Agility

San Francisco, July 17, 2018 – Rollout.io, an organic feature delivery company, today announced the preview release of Rollout Visibility – a major addition to the popular Rollout.io platform. For the first time, organizations will have real-time access to the status of feature deployment, eliminating guesswork and allowing for smarter business and technical decisions.

Feature delivery is no longer tied to distinct software versions. Instead, today’s software developers release new features continuously. However, this complexity can create challenges when multiple stakeholders are involved.

“We’ve heard countless stories from organizational leaders that features they believed were released to a certain user group, in fact, were not. The ability to gradually release features and roll them back if they don’t perform as expected, is critical to true agile deployment,” explained Erez Rusovsky, CEO and co-founder of Rollout.io.

Rusovsky continued, “Most customers start with one or two feature flags which quickly grows to tens or hundreds. Then, add-in the subset of users a feature is deployed to, and you end up with hundreds of permutations of production deployments. With Rollout Visibility, we’ve taken our already powerful feature delivery platform and added a real-time dashboard so that engineers, developers and product managers never have to wonder if a feature is truly rolled out, or if it is just a phantom feature caught in limbo.”

Rollout has helped numerous organizations speed up application delivery and reliably push, test, and modify new features without the risk of deploying new code. The platform has helped some of the world’s iconic brands enable delivery of features to specific users at a granular level, while letting them test and measure feature impact to make smarter business and technical decisions; and modify the values of application constants and variables on the fly, remotely, in highly configurable ways.

Now, Rollout Visibility provides customers with complete visibility, flexibility, and agility to monitor all aspects of feature deployments and ensure its operation meets KPIs.  The result is “organic feature delivery” – features behaving like dynamic organisms that evolve independently and provide the ultimate agility.

Other powerful features already supported by Rollout.io include:

    • Flag dependency: By allowing a flag value to be dependent on another flag value, customers have advanced and smarter, more targeted feature release
    • Unified solution: By unifying remote configuration and feature management into one platform, customers can control both features and configurations from the same dashboard, with the same capabilities around segmentation and deployment
    • Rollout offers enterprise-grade security and privacy and is SOC 2 Type II certified.

Rollout supports multiple clients and backend platforms. It adds feature level support across an organization’s entire stack. The company also recently announced its integration with Atlassian’s Jira Software.

  • HarperDB Brings Geographical Data Analysis and Storage Optimization to Edge Computing

New Features Enhance Utilization and Analysis of IoT Initiatives with Zero Increase to Storage Footprint

Denver, CO July 10, 2018 – HarperDB, an enterprise class database company, today announced new features to HarperDB that allow real-time geo-analysis, storage optimization for edge devices and the ability to run massive data analysis. As a result, companies tackling complex IoT projects can achieve a truly intelligent edge without incurring further storage or hardware costs.

“In IoT projects, many devices on the edge have limited storage hardware and the data is only valuable for a short period of time. With the ability to replicate and store data in the cloud, users can optimize their on-device storage for the most impactful analytics,” said Zach Fowler, Chief Product Officer of HarperDB. “It’s important that we constantly evolve the HarperDB solution to meet industry demands. With enhanced geo-analysis and the ability to concurrently run large data sets in the background, our customers have a competitive advantage they can exploit for success.”

    New features include:

Geographical Data Analysis: HarperDB’s dynamic schema allows for geo analysis and reaction to constantly evolving IoT data in real-time, directly from the edge. As more IoT sensors are deployed, the complexity around data analysis will increase dramatically. With this new feature, companies can now gain deep analysis by intelligently parsing geo data in an HTAP database and eliminate the need for multiple database products, which will reduce complexity.

Utilizing the industry standard of GEOJSON users can out-of-the-box integrate with MapBox, Google Maps, and many other GIS applications. Traditionally, geo data would be analyzed in a GIS or spatial database. With HarperDB, companies can now combine workloads for applications, data warehousing, and spatial analysis into a single product.

“It is especially critical in IoT for companies to be able to immediately identify where systems need attention in real-time as their data is transacting or to understand where it trends overtime. With HarperDB’s geo-analysis functions, users have the ability to visualize and understand their data as it occurs in the real world by gaining insights into specific locations, regions or their entire topology,” said Kyle Bernhardy, Chief Technology Officer of HarperDB.

Time to Live: This new feature gives companies the ability to run the full power of HarperDB on IoT devices. Developers can now make better decisions about what data needs to be stored on the edge without incurring further storage or hardware costs. With Time to Live auto expire data, users can store the most important information on the edge while retaining full access to all historical data in the cloud.

Jobs: Data scientists and developers migrating to HarperDB can perform large operations and expand the capability to ingest data from flat files, backup and recovery. Additionally, with the Jobs feature, users can now run massive and timely data sets to ensure transparency and continuity of operations.

“We’re seeing a rapid increase in the deployment of IoT devices in nearly every industry from oil and gas, logistics, military defense, telecommunications, agriculture and more. As these organizations continue to expand their IoT and edge computing strategies, they need a database built to handle the amount of data they’re producing,” said Kyle Bernhardy, Chief Technology Officer of HarperDB. “The addition of these features allow data scientists and developers, in any field, to migrate existing data into the HarperDB platform while capturing and analyzing large data sets on smaller hardware footprints.”

    Availability

The new features are available now on HarperDB’s community and enterprise editions. The community edition is available for free download here for prototyping and building smaller scale projects. For those looking to tackle larger scale projects, HarperDB offers an enterprise edition which includes clustering and analytics drivers. • Priority Software included in 2018 Market Guide for Service-Centric Cloud ERP Solutions

Rockaway, NJ – July 3, 2018 – Priority Software Ltd., a leading provider of ERP solutions, today announced that it has been included as a Representative Vendor in Gartner’s 2018 Market Guide for Service-Centric Cloud ERP Solutions. This is the second time this year that Priority has been included in a Gartner publication. Earlier this year, Priority was included as a Representative Vendor in Gartner’s March 2018 Market Guide for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Companies for the second year in a row.

Priority ERP thrives on innovation, delivering the tools and functionality to meet organizations’ constantly changing needs. Fueled by flexibility, system openness and mobility tools, Priority believes that ERP systems should and can be easier to use, easier to implement and easier to maintain and enhance. Priority offers the necessary tools to achieve this flexibility, including Business Process Management (BPM), mobile application generator, user-level personalization, business rules generator, REST APIs, and more.

The Market Guide includes 16 Cloud ERP providers with objective information on each vendor’s offering, with a focus on vendors who all actively sell and market service-centric cloud ERP solutions to midsize and large organizations. Key findings in this important industry publication include that service-centric cloud ERP solutions have matured and are increasingly being adopted by midsize and large organizations. According to the Market Guide, “By 2021, at least 40% of new service-centric ERP deployments in large enterprises will be cloud SaaS. By 2025, at least 50% of large enterprises in service-centric industries will successfully implement an “all in” cloud SaaS strategy.”

Today, close to 9,000 companies across a wide range of industries have come to rely on Priority ERP to manage and grow their business, 2,000 of which successfully use Priority’s cloud-based ERP solutions. In addition to the core elements of traditional ERP, including finance, manufacturing, logistics, human resources, business intelligence, project management and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Priority ERP also offers enablers to integrate and customize the system using built-in BPM tools, REST APIs, and a Mobile Application Generator.

“We are pleased to once again be included as a Representative Vendor in this publication,” said Andres Richter, CEO at Priority Software. “This is another important milestone for Priority, as we continue to further expand in the global ERP market. We understand our customers’ needs and are therefore committed to delivering more innovations to our flexible and open systems, to support our customers and enable them to grow their business.”
