Ignition Partners brings a little bit of Seattle to the Bay area for Microsoft Build

Ignition Partners is throwing a party! Along with four of our portfolio companies – Chef, Cloudera, Couchbase and Xamarin – we will host a special reception in connection with the Microsoft Build Developers Conference 2015.

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 29th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Press Club, 20 Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, near Moscone Center, where Build is taking place.

With two of our three managing partners at Ignition Partners – Frank Artale and John Connors, having deep roots with both Microsoft and the Seattle area, the idea is that along with our 4 portfolio companies, we will bring a little bit of our Seattle heritage to the party and the conference.

We will highlight the two major Seattle-based enterprise Cloud platforms, Microsoft’s Azure and Amazon Web Services. Ignition is working on behalf of its portfolio companies, especially cloud-oriented companies based in the San Francisco Bay Area, to build our profile in Seattle with these cloud market makers.

The networking event will offer an opportunity for open access to the cloud decision makers within Microsoft and to create synergies that may lead to new projects. Attendees will be able to network with thought leaders and gain insight into both the Microsoft and Amazon ecosystems.New companies able to offer products and services that work with or on Azure may leverage new and untapped business opportunities, beyond those found in the San Francisco market.

See you at the Press Club, and remember, it’s all about the build!

  • DevOps Connect: Rugged DevOps @ InfoSecurity Europe

DevOps Connect: Rugged DevOps @ InfoSecurity Europe

Following up on the tremendous demand we have seen for DevOps Connect @RSA Conference, we are taking this concept across the pond to Europe’s largest InfoSecurity event. DevOps Connect: Rugged DevOps @ InfoSecurity Europe will be on June 4th, 2015 at the Olympia in London. Partnering with the InfoSecurity Group and Reed Exhibitions, DevOps Connect will feature a full day of DevOps sessions, followed by a cocktail reception.

We will be announcing some exciting keynote speakers shortly, but there are plenty of speaker slots still available. Here is some information on the event for attendees, speakers and sponsors:

Attendees: All registered attendees of InfoSecurity Europe are eligible to attend DevOps Connect.  Even better registration for InfoSecurity Europe is free! So anyone can register for the event and come to DevOps Connect. Here is the link to register. While anyone can register and attend, the theater at the Olympia where the event will take place has limited seating. So our advice is register quickly and come early.

Speakers: We are issuing a formal call for speakers which is very similar to the CFS that we used for the RSA event (actually it is the same form).  Here is the link to submit to speak. Please be sure to read the instructions in the Details section. It really explains what we are looking for in speakers for this event.  We invite anyone who would like to speak to submit. The deadline for speaking submissions is May 4th. So don’t delay, submit early!

Sponsors: We have a full slate of sponsorship packages available for this event. Sponsor packages include sponsoring/exhibiting at both InfoSecurity Europe, as well as the DevOps Connect event. If your company is already sponsoring or exhibiting at InfoSecurity Europe, we have packages that allow you to leverage your existing investment. For information on sponsoring DevOps Connect and InfoSecurity Europe contact sponsor@devops.com. Sponsoring DevOps Connect is a great way to reach both of these communities, as well as help bring better awareness to both communities.

The idea of DevOps Connect: Rugged DevOps is to bring together the DevOps community and the InfoSec community. London has one of the most vibrant DevOps community in the world (it is the single biggest city for devopsy.kinsta.cloud visitors) and InfoSecurity is the largest InfoSec event in Europe with over 12,000 attendees.  So this is a perfect venue to bring together these two great communities. We invite members of both the DevOps and the InfoSec world to participate in this.

Stay tuned for more news and information regarding DevOps Connect: Rugged DevOps over the next days and weeks. Stay tuned.

  • Webinar: You Can’t “Do” DevOps. You Can “Do” Continuous Delivery.

Webinar: You Can’t “Do” DevOps. You Can “Do” Continuous Delivery.

“DevOps” is the latest rage.  Leading edge companies like Netflix, Etsy, and Intuit (the “Unicorns”) have transformed their I.T. Development and Operations organizations into a new culture known as DevOps:  Development and Operations working collaboratively together to accelerate the pace of software and application delivery.  But they didn’t implement DevOps.  A DevOps transformation to their culture was the outcome of their implementation of continuous delivery of software.  Continuous delivery is a process that applies automation and orchestration technologies to the application lifecycle.  In this webinar you will learn how your organization can implement continuous delivery as a step toward your own DevOps transformation.  With continuous delivery, you can accelerate application delivery which will allow I.T. to better meet the needs of the organization.  With continuous delivery, I.T. becomes a business enabler.

  • Overcoming Siebel Complexity to Achieve Agile and Continuous Deployments

Overcoming Siebel Complexity to Achieve Agile and Continuous Deployments

Siebel releases are complex. Executing one well is difficult. Extracting databases, migrating SRF repositories, deploying non-repository items and managing all the planned and unplanned outages is no small feat. Oh yeah, and there’s still that little thing called production. These deployments can easily take days and are updated infrequently, because the business can’t afford any downtime.

Now there is a solution to meet the business needs – Automating your deployments with Application Release Automation.

Join us on April 14 to learn from Anne Kootstra, Siebel CRM Consultant at Accenture, how they used Application Release Automation to shorten downtime of Siebel and increase quality and stability at a huge telecom provider in the Netherlands.

Attend this complimentary webinar to learn how to:

    • Enable agile releases and deploy Siebel updates in just minutes
    • Reduce planned and unplanned downtime
    • Deploy the right artifacts and configuration settings for even the most complex environments
    • Prevent unauthorized access to production environments
    • Free up Siebel administrators and developers from release and deployment tasks

  • Webinar: How Nationwide Insurance is Adopting DevOps for Variable Speed IT Systems

Webinar: How Nationwide Insurance is Adopting DevOps for Variable Speed IT Systems

To drive towards faster innovation, and also ensure the stability of the core business, the need arises for what is being termed as “two-speed or variable speed IT.” While innovative Systems of Engagement demand speed, agility and experimentation, legacy Systems of Record need governance and predictability. Two-speed IT enables adoption of DevOps capabilities by adapting them to the “speed” of delivery. It requires two-speed business planning and processes and even two-speed organizational structure and budgeting. Join Carmen DeArdo, Director of Application Development at Nationwide Insurance, Sanjeev Sharma, lead DevOps Technical Evangelist at IBM, and Lee Reid, executive IT specialist as they show how IBM’s solution is helping Nationwide adopt DevOps practices for variable speed IT systems.

This webinar is the first in the Variable Speed DevOps – A Deep Dive series.
