  • CyberArk Acquires Conjur, Revolutionizing DevOps Security to Drive Greater Business Agility

Delivers Industry’s Only Enterprise-Class, Automated Privileged Account Security and Secrets Management Solution to Secure the DevOps Lifecycle and Cloud-Native Environments

NEWTON, Mass. and PETACH TIKVA, Israel – May 11, 2017 – CyberArk Software Ltd. (NASDAQ: CYBR), the company that protects organizations from cyber attacks that have made their way inside the network perimeter, today acquired privately-held Conjur, Inc., a Newton, Mass.-based provider of DevOps security software for $42 million in cash.

Conjur’s revolutionary technology for securing DevOps extends CyberArk’s reach deeper into the DevOps lifecycle to protect secrets and manage machine identities. With the addition of Conjur, recently named a Cool Vendor in DevOps by Gartnerˡ, CyberArk uniquely empowers CIOs and CISOs to accelerate modern software deployment – securely – with the industry’s only enterprise-class security solution that delivers comprehensive privileged account management and secrets protection.

“While empowering organizations with more efficiency and speed, the DevOps process is also dramatically expanding the attack surface across the entire enterprise,” said Udi Mokady, Chairman and CEO, CyberArk. “CyberArk’s acquisition of Conjur further strengthens our market leadership position – providing the industry’s only enterprise-class solution for privileged account security and secrets management on premises, in the cloud and across the DevOps pipeline. Now with Conjur, CyberArk customers can truly embrace DevOps without compromising on security.”

Due to the dynamic nature of DevOps, “secrets” – which are privileged account credentials, SSH Keys, API keys and more – are proliferating throughout the IT infrastructure at a rapid-fire pace, creating massive security risks for organizations. “A Gartner survey in mid-2016 found that 50% of enterprises would be using DevOps by the end of 2016.” However, Gartner estimates “that fewer than 20% of enterprise security architects have engaged to systematically incorporate information security into their organizations’ DevOps initiatives.”² CIOs, CISOs and developers need solutions that offer control and security without impeding the agility and speed of the DevOps pipeline. Conjur and CyberArk integrate with leading DevOps tools and platforms including Puppet, Chef and Ansible to further enable agile development processes.

“Conjur’s innovative DevOps security solution is gaining momentum with developers, security and operations teams in modern enterprise IT organizations around the world,” said Elizabeth Lawler, CEO and co-founder, Conjur. “We are excited to become part of CyberArk to set a new industry standard for privileged account security and secrets management, helping customers move to a true DevSecOps delivery model that supports greater business agility.”

  • ExtraHop Introduces New Professional Services for Data-Driven Enterprise IT Transformations

ExtraHop Experts Build Custom Solutions for Cloud Migration, Application Mapping, and Microsegmentation Projects Using Insight from Real-Time Visibility of the ExtraHop Platform

LAS VEGAS & SEATTLE – May 15, 2017 – Today at Interop ITX, ExtraHop, the leader in real-time IT analytics, announced new professional services for cloud migration, datacenter migration, and microsegmentation. These fully-customizable offerings bring together the deep domain expertise of ExtraHop solutions architects with the real-time, multi-tier visibility delivered by the ExtraHop platform to help organizations streamline major IT transformation and security initiatives.

When embarking on major IT transformation projects, a comprehensive understanding of the environment is critical; however, today’s IT environments are complex, dynamic, and distributed, making it extraordinarily difficult to stay on top of all of the systems and their dependencies. Legacy approaches rely on active discovery through device polling—which puts incredible strain on infrastructure—and consultants interviewing people to create spreadsheet inventories of the environment.

With ExtraHop, enterprises now have both the real-time insight and the expert guidance they need to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure performance and security during complex infrastructure projects. New professional services now offered by ExtraHop include:

    • Cloud and Datacenter Migration: Cloud and datacenter migration experts map the entire IT infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments to discover all assets, map dependencies, separate clients and servers, and categorize shared services like DNS and Active Directory. Based on this comprehensive, up-to-the-minute understanding of the complete environment, ExtraHop experts build a comprehensive plan, including move groups and migration order, to ensure seamless migration.
    • Microsegmentation: Leveraging the automatic device discovery and mapping capabilities of the ExtraHop platform, ExtraHop Solutions Architects work with internal teams to develop and implement a segmentation strategy that takes into account industry-specific considerations, such as medical devices in healthcare and PCI compliance in retail. ExtraHop takes a vendor-agnostic approach that fits with the network virtualization technology selected by the customer, and delivers a comprehensive view of every network-connected device, its communications, and a plan for how to best segment its traffic.
    • Application Mapping: Leverage ExtraHop IT analytics to observe all interactions between IT systems including asset discovery, dependency mapping, and identification of core dependencies and shared services.

“In our experience, even organizations with a lot of confidence in their application inventories generally only believe they have 80 percent visibility. When we actually do the mapping, we find that it’s more often only about 20 percent,” said Eric Thomas, Director of Professional Services at ExtraHop. “When it comes to initiatives like migration and microsegmentation, a complete inventory is absolutely mission critical. With ExtraHop technology and best practices, our experts can help customers understand critical dependencies to support smooth transformations. As a result, IT teams can stay focused on continuous improvement and innovation.”

In addition to these specialized projects, ExtraHop offers implementation and integration services to configure the ExtraHop platform to a company’s unique needs and build a strong foundation for success. Experts use the Open Data Stream and Open Data Context API to integrate the ExtraHop platform seamlessly with IT and security platforms such as ServiceNow, threat intelligence, and SIEM platforms.

    What the Industry is Saying:

“The ExtraHop consultant was a plethora of knowledge about the platform and about IT architectures generally. We even threw him into an application onboarding meeting about upcoming network redesigns, and he added real value to the conversation. We will definitely partner with ExtraHop more on future developments,” said a Business Performance & Analytics Administrator for global financial technology services organization.

“Datacenter and cloud migrations are incredibly complex projects that often involve a great deal of headache for IT and risk for the organization,” said Shamus McGillicuddy, Senior Analyst for Network Management at Enterprise Management Associates. “One of the biggest challenges surrounding these migrations is getting the required visibility into all devices and the dependencies they share in order to avoid performance and availability issues as the project progresses. With these new bundled services offerings, ExtraHop combines the observed visibility delivered by its analytics solution with deep expertise in application and dependency mapping to help streamline these migrations.”

  • Puppet Announces Availability of Puppet Enterprise 2017.2, Delivering Inventory Discovery and Visual Orchestration Workflows

Continued Innovation Provides Enhanced Situational Awareness to Deploy Software Faster
    Portland, OR

Puppet, the standard for automating the delivery and operation of the software that powers everything around us, today announced the general availability of Puppet Enterprise 2017.2, and upcoming availability of Puppet 5 Platform, the latest version of Open Source Puppet. Significant updates to Puppet Enterprise 2017.2, now also available in Japanese, empower customers to orchestrate changes and phased deployments across their software with visual workflows, and greater visibility into the software packages running, no matter how they are managed. Additionally, Puppet’s core open source platform, Puppet 5 Platform, includes upgraded features offering open source customers an even more powerful common language to deliver and operate all of their software.

“Today’s organizations are under increasing pressure to deliver better software faster. For enterprise IT, that means changing from releasing updates once every few quarters to delivering great software on demand—that’s a significant shift,” said Omri Gazitt, chief product officer, Puppet. “Puppet helps with that shift. Puppet gives enterprise IT the modern automation needed for DevOps agility, predictability and security. This release makes it easier than ever for IT to get started with automation, from visibility into unmanaged infrastructure, to better control for delivering software change.”

Significant new capabilities of Puppet Enterprise 2017.2 include:

    • Package inspection: Users get started with automation by quickly identifying packages that aren’t being automatically managed, but should be. With package inspection, Puppet Enterprise users report on unmanaged infrastructure, making it easy to see the systems that would benefit most from automation to ensure their most critical software has the right maintenance updates, security patches and licenses.
    • Visual orchestration workflows: Users orchestrate infrastructure and application deployments entirely from within the Puppet Enterprise web UI, without writing a single line of Puppet code. Enterprises can target specific infrastructure environments using drop-down menus and filters, define workflows, monitor deployment status in real-time, and start, stop or restart deployments as needed, all with the click of a button.

Also announced today is Puppet’s newest open source innovations, including Lumogon™ and Puppet 5 Platform. Updates to Puppet 5 Platform, the company’s core open source offering, which includes Puppet Agent, Puppet Server and PuppetDB, make it easier for users to download, implement and upgrade their Puppet deployment. The Puppet 5 Platform’s suite of components are guaranteed to work together without requiring the additional testing and troubleshooting commonly associated with other open source tools.

Puppet Enterprise 2017.2 is available today to new and existing customers, and Puppet 5 Platform will be available in May 2017.

  • Puppet Announces Lumogon™ and Puppet Cloud Discovery™, Expands Offerings With New Container and Cloud-Native Technology

New Offerings Empower Customers With Complete Visibility into Cloud and Container Operations
    Portland, OR

Puppet, the standard for automating the delivery and operations of the software that powers everything around us, today announced Lumogon™ and Puppet Cloud Discovery™. The new offerings define modern infrastructure discovery and empower enterprise IT professionals with the situational awareness and visibility needed to securely and scalably run cloud infrastructure and container-based applications in production, across all public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Building on its market leadership in data center automation and beyond, these new innovations mark a major milestone for Puppet as the company expands its enterprise offerings beyond Puppet Enterprise, empowering companies to overcome challenges associated with modernizing infrastructure and application stacks.

Discovery provided by Lumogon and Puppet Cloud Discovery breaks open the black box of container and cloud workloads, giving enterprise IT teams insights and visibility into the services running across containerized applications and cloud infrastructure. These advancements show them exactly what they have running, and where, so they can ensure consistency and compliance as they modernize their environments.

“Today’s announcement is a pivotal moment for Puppet as we expand beyond the core Puppet Enterprise platform to offer our customers new ways to discover and manage modern mission critical infrastructure,” said Deepak Giridharagopal, CTO, Puppet. “Our new Lumogon and Puppet Cloud Discovery tools provide in-depth insights about the resources across your  container and cloud infrastructure. With that situational awareness, it’s easier to know what critical services aren’t being monitored and managed, but should be, especially for those who strive to deliver software in a more agile, predictable and consistent way.”

    Complete container transparency with Lumogon
Anyone involved in running containers, like site reliability engineers (SREs), release engineers, DevOps engineers, and the application developers themselves, now have a tool to gain operational insights into what makes up their containers with Lumogon. Lumogon provides a transparent window into each Docker image and running container, and offers a way to collect, query and report on container application metadata.

“Containers are the atomic units of software. But sometimes you need to inspect the particles that make up the atoms and know in what atoms exactly each particle lives,” said David Aronchick, Kubernetes product manager, Google. “We’re happy to see open solutions like the Lumogon project help users know what software is in their containers without having to change the way they build and run containers today.”

Unlike modern orchestration tools that tend to only spin-up containers, Lumogon provides unparalleled insight into each running container and provides a historical record of all changes made through the container lifecycle. It also helps establish a new container reporting standard that allows efficient management of container infrastructure. Key capabilities of Lumogon include:

    • Insight into every container: Users can generate reports on the contents of a running container or an image without having to install special software in the container image or run a shell in a container namespace. The report contains information about the OS and all software installed in the container.
    • Centralized query tools for container fleet: Users can query the metadata information across all containers and images in an environment, making it possible for the first time to see your infrastructure in aggregate and over time.
    • Situational awareness at scale: Teams can scale queries and reports as the number of containers increase over time without having to add new tools. Information can be shared with other management or monitoring tools in your container management ecosystem to build a complete view across your entire container infrastructure.

Instant cloud inventory and insights with Puppet Cloud Discovery
According to Gartner, less than 20 percent of IT organizations have automation in their IT management portfolios. In order to adopt automation, IT needs to know what is already running, make sense of it, and take action based on that data. Incumbent tools might allow IT to gather massive amounts of data, but fall short of providing meaningful insights or the ability to manage systems with modern DevOps practices.

Puppet Cloud Discovery collects and visualizes a rich set of system data to give users better awareness of the state of their infrastructure. Unlike other tools on the market that were built for traditional on-premise infrastructure, Puppet Cloud Discovery is cloud-first and is designed to model ephemeral cloud infrastructure. Puppet Cloud Discovery is delivered as a service, making it easy for users to see immediate time-to-value.

Lumogon is available today, and a limited tech preview of Puppet Cloud Discovery will be available later this month (May 2017).

  • Oracle API Platform Cloud Enables Customers to Drive Business Transformation and Design-First Thinking

Helps developers monetize new opportunities and deliver better customer experiences

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 10, 2017 – Oracle today expanded Oracle Cloud Platform’s integration offerings with the availability of Oracle API Platform Cloud Service.  Bringing  together leading API-first design and governance capabilities from recently acquired Apiary and API management from Oracle, the new cloud service delivers end-to-end capabilities for designing, prototyping, documenting, testing, and managing the proliferation of critical APIs. Through a completely new and simplified API management experience, users can easily support changing business demands while having clear visibility into who is using APIs for better control, security, and monetization of digital assets.

“Data is the new corporate currency and APIs are critical to business modernization and agility, enabling users to easily connect and share key information across applications and devices – mobile, IoT, in the cloud or on-premises,” said Amit Zavery, senior vice president, Oracle Cloud Platform.  “The Oracle API Platform Cloud enables developers to capitalize on new opportunities by enabling users to simply and securely manage the entire lifecycle of their APIs.”

Part of the Oracle Cloud Platform, Oracle API Platform Cloud Service is designed to eliminate the complexities associated with transforming on-premises API solutions into the cloud, so companies can thrive in the digital economy.  Users can grant external developers and partners access to data locked behind firewalls, inside applications, and within data stores, enabling them to power a larger community to innovate and develop new monetization strategies. It also empowers developers to manage different interfaces for a variety of audiences using advanced, but easy-to-use, API management capabilities.

“As organizations continue to adopt not one but multiple cloud vendors, information has never been more federated. Real time access to such assets via APIs has therefore become a priority for our customers,” said Luis Weir, Chief Architect, Application Services, Capgemini UK.  “Oracle API Platform Cloud Service delivers a pure-play third-generation API solution capable of creating and managing APIs that run in any vendor’s cloud and/or on-premises – while keeping the entire platform operations and API lifecycle central in the Oracle Cloud. The incorporation of Apiary into the platform, only makes it better as developers also get the tools they need to help ensure that those APIs are well designed, documented and are easy to consume.”

“Customers want to unlock the value in their systems by delivering APIs to internal developers and even customers to re-invent and remix critical business functions,” said Steve Giovannetti, CTO and Founder, Hub City Media. “Oracle API Platform Cloud reduces the administrative burden of launching services by handling API discovery, security, throttling, and versioning in an innovative hybrid cloud solution.”

“Trunk Club has been able to develop new solutions quickly with Oracle Apiary,” said Brian Lee, engineering manager at Trunk Club. “Originally, a lack of API documentation left a lot of room for interpretation, but since implementing Oracle Apiary, API documentation has been a game changer. Front-end and back-end teams have been able to focus on better API design, and the integrated mock server has allowed us to develop in parallel. Not only has development time gone down, but using Oracle Apiary also brought the architecture and payload discussion earlier in the development process, making it easier for us to collaborate across teams and platforms.”

Key capabilities in the Oracle API Platform Cloud Service include:

    • Design: Collaborate company and customer requirements via API Descriptions and Build API semantic guides for governance and control.
    • Build: Create APIs on top of existing services to enable access to data formerly locked inside legacy apps and data stores.
    • Secure: Assign industry-standard security and threat protection to APIs with no coding, including OAuth 2.0, IP filtering, and rate limiting.
    • Hybrid Deployment: Choose to deploy the gateway on-premises, in Oracle Cloud or through third-party clouds with the ease of a single-click. Create API policy once, deploy everywhere – a rich lifecycle management tool.
    • Publish: Browse a comprehensive list of proven APIs from Oracle, the community, and your own organization.
    • Consume: Register third-party apps easily to allow them the same seamless API utilization as pre-loaded Oracle SaaS APIs.
    • Monitor: View operational API metrics on a single dashboard to take action quickly.

When used in combination with Oracle’s larger cloud portfolio, Oracle API Platform Cloud can deliver API management as part of a comprehensive and unified PaaS solution to simplify the use of API-related tools including identity management, process management, content management, integration and applications development.

  • Tasktop Announces Strong Momentum in First Half Fiscal Year 2017

Demand Growing for Value Stream Integration Solution that Allows Agile and DevOps to Work at Scale

VANCOUVER, BC, May 4, 2017– Tasktop, the leader in Value Stream Integration, today announced that during the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2017 — covering the reporting period Oct. 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 – the company signed more than 200 new customers, adding to its portfolio of global leaders in financial services, insurance, government and manufacturing, which include 43 of the Fortune 100, 11 of the top banks globally, six of the largest health plans, and four of the top ten US insurance companies.

The company also achieved several major milestones, including the introduction of its market-changing Tasktop Integration Hub.

According to Neelan Choksi, Tasktop president and COO, “It’s been an extraordinary start to our fiscal year: We’ve had strong revenue growth, we launched a first of its kind product based on a decade of learning from our customers and partners, our second round of funding closed, and DevOps expert Gene Kim showed his support for our vision by becoming a strategic advisor. This really validates the importance of value stream integration, which is revolutionizing software delivery in the same way the Toyota Production System revolutionized manufacturing.”

Q1 2017 highlights included the following:

    Product Innovation

    Value Stream Integration Solution

In January, Tasktop launched its Tasktop Integration Hub, which completely reimagines how organizations connect software delivery at scale. The new unified suite introduced model-based integration, a new visual and web-based user interface, and the ability to connect all tools and stakeholders in the delivery pipeline. Already supporting the world’s largest Agile and DevOps transformations, Tasktop now enables enterprises to scale deployments to hundreds of projects, tens of thousands of users and millions of artifacts.

Newly Released Visual View of Integration Landscape

In addition, Tasktop recently released enhancements to the Tasktop Integration Hub, which now offers a landscape view — another tremendous leap towards making value stream integration, automation and visibility easy to implement at organizations of any size. By visualizing the tools and integrations in the value stream, organizations can get full visibility and move away from one-off integrations and the “spaghetti” diagrams that are commonplace today.

Using the new view, users can see at a glance what systems are integrated, and then layer on information about what’s flowing between them (e.g. Stories, Defects, Requirements). Users can also see whether they have one- or two-way flows. Landscape view also provides filters so that users can zero in on certain sections of their integration landscape, and drill down on artifacts to see exactly where they are flowing.

For administrators, this release makes it easy to understand the integration landscape at a glance. And it provides CIOs with macro visibility into all the integrations, so that they can see in one place how each system is being connected.

    Expanded Partner Network

In the first half of FY 2017, Tasktop continued to expand its technology partnerships and product network with new integrations for Microsoft Sharepoint, Salesforce, SmartBear, HPE ALM Octane, Pivotal Tracker and QA Symphony.

    Employee Growth

Tasktop increased its global staffing, with significant growth in both its Vancouver headquarters and Austin (U.S. headquarters) offices.

    New Strategic Advisor

Gene Kim joined Tasktop in a strategic advisor role. In this role, he will provide guidance on the evolution of the company’s products and the future of DevOps and how enterprises in the real world are implementing DevOps at scale.

    Awards

During this period, Taskstop was named to the 2017 Ready to Rocket list, its Tasktop Integration Hub earnedTechTarget’s Editors’ Choice for Innovation and Tricentis presented it with its Best ISV Partner Award.
