  • Devo Technology Announces Devo Service Operations to Address Enterprise Monitoring Gap

New machine learning-based solution addresses monitoring gap created by complex, multi-cloud application architectures for IT and DevOps teams

Cambridge, Mass., May 21, 2019 – Devo Technology, the data operations company, today announced the tech preview of its Service Operations solution purpose-built for complex IT and application environments. In an era where enterprises are becoming completely instrumented across their ecosystems, Devo Service Operations empowers IT Ops to easily visualize complex, multi-cloud application environments, and predict issues and remediate them quickly when they do arise. In addition, the solution reveals relationships between business impact and IT performance.

Built on the Devo Platform, Devo Service Operations leverages cloud-scale analytics, interactive visualizations, and machine learning, delivering operational prediction and automation across the enterprise. The solution was built to alleviate customers’ pain points around a growing monitoring gap that lacks the visibility to connect the dots between technology and business in the face of too much data and noise.

Devo Service Operations applies insights gained from both real-time and historical enterprise log data across hundreds of IT elements, reduces noise with machine learning, and automates the remediation workflow to deliver service insight and impact analysis in the form of business KPIs. Devo Service Operations offers these individual capabilities:

    • Real-time impact assessment: The Experience Viewer and Service Navigator enable operational teams to visualize complex service stacks, map dependencies, seamlessly pivot from an application view to infrastructure elements, detailing impact on end-users and business services.
    • ML-powered analytics: From time series anomaly detection to root-cause analysis and capacity forecasting, machine learning-powered analytics reduces noise and predicts and detects problems so operations teams can take timely, accurate actions.
    • Root Cause Analysis with streamlined remediation: Devo Service Operations includes a decision engine that defines behavior-driven alerts and links those alerts to automated next-best-action recommendations and workflows to ultimately restore services.
    • Cloud-scale data analytics platform: Devo Service Operations is built on the Devo platform – a real-time, cloud-native, multi-tenant analytics platform built for the massive scale of logs, metrics, events, and machine data prevalent in today’s operational environments. The platform provides real-time insight into both streaming and historical data from across the entire enterprise technology stack – users, devices, applications, and infrastructure.

“Devo Service Operations represents a milestone in the company’s growth trajectory, as we continue to build capabilities that connect IT performance and business impact,” said Colin Britton, Chief Strategy Officer, Devo. “Ensuring the availability and performance of applications is more critical than ever for businesses, but the scale and complexity of modern application architectures and infrastructures make monitoring applications increasingly difficult. We are excited to preview the Service Operations solution for ITOps and DevOps professionals and work with our customers to deliver a high-performing solution that meets their needs.”

“Ironically, one of the most significant challenges facing organizations as they seek to establish the connection between business context and the real-time technical components that support the digital experience is the abundance of data itself. Organizations are now awash in data — and it’s made it almost impossible for human operators to make sense of it all. Within all of that data, however, are the seeds of the solution. The real-time nature of machine data and the fact that it contains markers that organizations can use to connect disparate interactions means that they can also use machine data to help human operators turn all that data noise into context,” said Charles Araujo, Intellyx, in the paper Machine Data: The Secret to Winning the Digital Experience Arms Race.

Devo Service Operations comes on the heels of inclusion as a Strong Performer in the Forrester Wave™: Intelligent Application and Service Monitoring, Q2 2019, as well as inclusion in Gartner’s 2018 Market Guide for AIOps.

  • NS1 Launches DDI for Modern Distributed Enterprise Application Infrastructure

Next Generation DDI Reduces Friction and Complexity in Deploying and Delivering Applications in Distributed Environments at Scale

NEW YORK –May 22, 2019– NS1, the leader in next generation DNS and application traffic management solutions, today announced its new Enterprise DDI solution. Designed for modern distributed application-centric computing infrastructure, NS1 Enterprise DDI reduces the friction and complexity of deploying and delivering applications across a diverse mix of multi-cloud, edge and on-premise environments.

Legacy DDI appliances are not application-centric, creating challenges for teams delivering dynamic and distributed applications across complex multi- or hybrid-cloud environments, edge networks and microservices platforms. These outdated DDI appliances feature complex UI and workflows, expensive hardware, and outdated, poorly performing APIs. Slow, centralized IP management and DNS record propagation cause change control bottlenecks that can delay deployments by days or even weeks, impeding DevOps teams and modern continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) workflows.

NS1 Enterprise DDI reduces the friction and complexity of application delivery in rapidly changing, hybrid enterprise environments. It is built for DevOps, delivering to those teams the autonomy they need to safely manage updates. A modern, API-first architecture supports high-scale automation and unifies service discovery across complex infrastructure. And because NS1 is the only provider offering global managed DNS solutions and self-hosted DDI, a single management plane eliminates the need for network teams to jump between different consoles as part of a multi-cloud infrastructure — delivering a single NS1 management experience across internal and external infrastructure.

“Enterprises across the board are looking to leverage new technologies, vendors, and topologies in service of better performance, reliability, and time to market. But the velocity gains are often offset by the overhead that comes with managing a diverse and complex mix of infrastructure that spans everything from mainframes to microservices across multiple clouds,” said Jonathan Sullivan, co-founder and CTO of NS1. “NS1 Enterprise DDI was designed to provide a modern, unified management plane across these disparate environments in order to simplify and automate increasingly complex development processes. It removes the friction and burden of having to both manage and build your apps against a legacy DDI platform, and instead turns DDI into a weapon in your DevOps arsenal that provides innovative new functionality that will impact the scale and velocity of your application-driven business.”

NS1 Enterprise DDI is built on the same software platform that powers NS1 Managed DNS, which is used by the most demanding customers and applications on the internet today. It includes:

    • Integrated DHCP and IPAM to gain workflow efficiency and visibility across complex, hybrid infrastructure
    • World’s most advanced traffic steering technology that automatically routes traffic across your WAN or LANs in order to boost performance and reduce infrastructure costs
    • Fast API performance that scales for high rates of API calls even in the most demanding automation-driven environments
    • Next-generation DNS, with real-time DNS change propagation that delivers service discovery in seconds
    • Wide set of integrations, including with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and TSDBs, for out-of-the-box integration with your tools and vendors.

“There’s tremendous pressure to deliver business applications quickly and embrace new internet-like cloud platforms, yet network operations teams still need to maintain an integrated legacy infrastructure,” said Eric Hanselman, chief analyst of 451 Research. “A new generation of software-based orchestration capabilities from providers like NS1 is accelerating digital modernization by unifying the application management stack to deliver all the benefits of internet innovation, simplicity, and automation across even the most diverse enterprise infrastructure environments.”

  • Jama Connect Risk Management Center Expands to all Industries and Platforms

Integration of FMEA and ISO standards, as well as regulatory requirements, provides a comprehensive system of record to manage risk and help companies manage product development complexity

Portland, Ore., May 21, 2019 – Jama Software, the leading product development platform provider for building complex products and integrated systems, announced they have expanded the Jama Connect™ Risk Management Center to all industries and platforms – both cloud and self-hosted. Until today, the center was piloted exclusively for medical device companies and was only available on the cloud.

“From working with hundreds of customers in regulated industries, we realized that risks are requirements,” said Jama CEO, Scott Roth. “There are nuances in how risk is handled from industry to industry, but risk management is a core principle of product development, just like requirements. When you bring risks directly into requirements management, they are much easier to control.”

Aerospace, automotive, semiconductor and other industries face a growing risk management dilemma. Mistakes can endanger lives and permanently mar a company’s reputation. In addition, product safety regulations are getting stricter and recalls are on the rise. At the same time, risk management can be cumbersome, frustrating and inefficient. Many companies use multiple spreadsheets, paper records or software that is ill-suited for risk management and requirements tracking, as well as for following industry standards such as FMEA and ISO 14971.

In a recent white paper, Frost & Sullivan noted:

Legacy systems struggle to keep up with changing regulations, which can lead to compliance costs down the road. They can also introduce challenges with version control and be prone to errors. Due to their complicated functionality, legacy systems also inadvertently promote silos, forcing teams to prioritize the accuracy and timeliness of specific tasks in a way that can inhibit collaboration with other teams.

Jama Connect Risk Management Center addresses these challenges by providing industry-standard customizable templates, enhancing collaboration, and offering a single system of record for risks and requirements. The platform enhances risk analysis, giving teams better tools to identify and mitigate issues and move rapidly through the development process. Specifically, the center helps teams:

    • Participate in risk assessment, including preliminary hazard analysis (PHA) and risk mitigation;
    • Incorporate FMEA and ISO 14971- aligned risk management templates;
    • Connect verifications to requirements; and,
    • Export plans for approval.

“Risk management should not be siloed away from product requirements,” added Roth. “There must be a streamlined mechanism for all teams to work together towards common goals. We believe the Risk Management Center equips companies with the tools they need – to identify mistakes before they become serious regulatory and reputational problems, and to rapidly develop successful, sustainable products.”

  • SecureAge Integrates Artificial Intelligence Powered APEX Anti-Malware Engine in VirusTotal

SecureAge’s APEX engine uses machine learning to recognize zero-day and mutated threats that are traditionally undetectable

(NEW YORK) (May 14, 2019) — SecureAge Technology, an data security and encryption solution provider for enterprise businesses and end users, today announced the integration of its APEX anti-malware engine into VirusTotal, a Chronicle product, and free online service that aggregates many anti-malware products and other scanning engines to check for malware and malicious content. The submission of files, URLs, domains, etc. to VirusTotal helps to raise global cyber security understanding.

SecureAge APEX is an anti-malware scanning engine powered by artificial intelligence, designed to extend the detection capabilities of the SecureAge SecureAPlus endpoint protection platform (EPP). The APEX engine provides next-generation endpoint detection alongside other SecureAPlus features, such as Application Control, Application Whitelisting, multi-cloud anti-virus, fileless attack protection and more. To deal with advanced threats like zero-day malware, APEX goes beyond traditional scanners by using machine learning to identify unseen and mutated malware types and variants from day one of their release.

“As part of the VirusTotal network, our priority is to champion the value that the APEX engine can bring to users in keeping them informed and protected from existing and unknown malware types,” said Dr. Teow-Hin Ngair, CEO, SecureAge Technology. “We hope that this integration is also a testament to our commitment to become a major contributor to the overall cybersecurity community.”

As part of VirusTotal, the APEX engine combines deep learning technology to better understand potential threats independent of a reliance on signatures. Within VirusTotal, APEX will target WindowsPE files.
