  • Unravel Data Earns Certification for Cloudera Data Platform

Unravel supports Cloudera Data Platform in the public cloud, on-premises and in hybrid environments, continuing Unravel’s mission to simplify and optimize modern data applications wherever they exist

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA – March 25, 2020– Unravel Data, the only data operations platform providing full-stack visibility and AI-powered recommendations to drive more reliable performance in modern data applications, today announced that it has been certified on the Cloudera Data Platform. Cloudera Data Platform manages data in any environment, including multiple public clouds, bare metal deployments, private clouds and hybrid clouds. The certification further advances Unravel’s mission to simplify and optimize modern data apps wherever they exist, with this move particularly bolstering Unravel’s support for hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.

“Data apps, especially AI and ML apps, are increasingly being spread across a mix of on-premise and public cloud environments. These highly distributed hybrid cloud deployments provide unique advantages and greater flexibility compared to all-in approaches that put everything either in the cloud or in a private datacenter,” said Kunal Agarwal, CEO, Unravel Data. “Organizations are also deploying more data apps in multiple clouds, which allows them to leverage the specific strengths of each cloud and provides unique app functionality. However, the growing distribution of data apps in hybrid and multi-cloud settings introduces operational complexity and naturally makes it harder to optimize and monitor these apps. Unravel ensures that enterprises have both a clear line of sight into these apps and automated recommendations to troubleshoot and maximize their performance, no matter where the apps are located.”

In order to earn this certification, Unravel maintained their silver partnership status through the Cloudera Connect partner program, built new integrations for Cloudera Data Platform (for both the public cloud and on-premise versions), then documented and tested those integrations. Cloudera worked closely with Unravel during the entire process.

The certification is the latest milestone in a long relationship between Unravel and Cloudera. Unravel was previously certified on Cloudera Enterprise and the two share many joint customers. This integration will ensure legacy CDH and HDP customers who migrate to Cloudera CDP will continue to enjoy Unravel’s solutions to simplify data operations on AWS, Azure and GCP, in addition to on-premises.

“Enterprises are struggling to deliver against their mobile initiatives due to the complexity of developing and delivering cross platform mobile applications at scale,” said Deepak Anupalli, Co-Founder and VP Products, WaveMaker. “In addition, enterprise IT teams are challenged with the number of apps they are required to develop and manage and additionally enterprise users are currently forced to switch between these apps, signing in multiple times and leading to poor experience and loss of productivity.”

The integration of WaveMaker and SpotCues addresses all these challenges, leveraging WaveMaker’s low-code approach to developing cross platform micro-applications and a single distribution channel for all apps through SpotCues’ ‘mobile container’ concept. Micro-apps are purpose-built apps with a simplified experience to perform user tasks or workflows through various systems within an enterprise. All micro-apps developed using the WaveMaker low-code platform can be automatically bundled within a single enterprise-branded SpotCues app along with an integrated sign-in experience. This approach dramatically reduces the time to develop new apps and significantly improves user experience.

To enable this approach, WaveMaker customized its existing visual – WYSWYG interface to extend support for development of micro-apps and ‘1-Click publish’ experience to instantly push the micro-apps to users without an app store for publishing or approval. This means less burden on development teams and reduced wait times for app publishing and certification across App Stores for multiple platforms.

With this integration in place, WaveMaker enables Customers to:

    • Rapidly develop micro-applications on top of any enterprise system and instantly publish each app to users in real time without App Store approval

Unique integration will allow import and export of data, providing instant feedback on page load performance and other critical metrics from new features

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–To reduce risk in the development process, Split Software, the leading feature delivery platform, today announced a two-way data integration with Google Analytics that can instantly detect performance issues caused by new features. This integration is unique to Split and includes the ability to ingest data from and export data to Google Analytics.

Pairing web performance data with feature flag data gives engineering teams a direct understanding of how key service level objectives – such as page load time – are impacted by each new feature they release.

Used by 86 percent of top websites to report on web analytics, including performance and business metrics, Google Analytics is the industry standard for web performance. Now, companies using Split won’t need to track data a second time. Instead, they can measure the impact of every feature shipped to customers using web performance data already collected in Google Analytics.

“The strength of Split’s platform is the power to measure performance and outcomes of feature flags. Through our integration with Google Analytics, we are helping businesses to respond faster to any issue that may impact the customer experience,” said Trevor Stuart, head of product and co-founder at Split. “By closing the feedback loop from the features built, development teams deliver quantifiable customer and business value.”

Additionally, companies can run experiments or A/B tests that prove which features drive the best results for the business. Using Split’s javascript SDK, teams can automatically collect Google Analytics metrics instantly as a user is browsing their website. Other product capabilities include:

    • Send web performance, conversion and business data from Google Analytics to Split to understand the impact of new features
    • Use average revenue per cart to see if a new feature improves business outcomes
    • Send a record of every feature flag in Split – called an impression – to Google Analytics for segmentation analysis
    • Send feature data from Split to Google Analytics to segment session or goal completion data by exposure to a new feature
    • Instantly kill any feature in Split that causes a degradation in performance indicators measured by Google Analytics

  • Instana Announces APM Integration with LogDNA Log Analysis Solution

One-Click Navigation from Automated APM Solution Into LogDNA Analysis Tool

Chicago, IL – March 17, 2020 – Instana, the leading provider of real-time application performance management (APM) solutions for cloud-native microservice applications, today announced an extension of the company’s one-click integration with Log Analysis tools to now support LogDNA.

The Instana / LogDNA integration provides a seamless experience for Dev and Ops teams when troubleshooting microservices and cloud native applications. When application problems occur, Instana automatically isolates the service in trouble, as well as the triggering event and problematic application code, microservice or infrastructure platform causing the problem.

“While applications continue to grow in complexity, individual infrastructure platforms and microservices are also their own complex ecosystems,” said Chris Farrell, Technical Director and APM
Strategist at Instana. “The integrated solution of Instana and LogDNA provides the full range of monitoring, tracing and log analysis that enables any application stakeholder to identify, isolate and fix application problems before service levels are impacted.”

Instana’s integration with LogDNA is the latest one-click navigation from the automated APM solution into a log analysis tool, handled via buttons in the Instana GUI on key component dashboards (such as Servers, Containers and Kubernetes). When the button is clicked, Instana starts up an instance of the log analysis tool, along with a pre-executed analysis filter into the exact logs of the application components and associated infrastructure needing examination. Timing is synchronized, meaning users won’t have to search for the specific log or timeframe needed to solve problems.

Unlike traditional APM tools, Instana’s automated Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solution discovers all application service components and application infrastructure, including Cloud infrastructure such as Azure, orchestration infrastructure like Kubernetes and Docker, application services and DevOps processes. Instana automatically deploys monitoring sensors for each part of the application technology stack and traces all application requests – without requiring any human configuration or even application restarts. The solution detects application and infrastructure changes in real-time, adjusting its own models and visualizing the changes and impacts to performance in seconds.

The integration with LogDNA and other log analysis tools is available today in all Instana APM solutions. Additional information can be found at https://www.instana.com.

  • Dremio Closes $70 Million in Growth Funding to Accelerate Global Expansion

Rapid Growth Fueled by Demand for Cost Effective Technology to Power Cloud Data Lakes

Santa Clara, CA – March 26, 2020 – Dremio, the data lake engine company, today announced the company has closed $70 million in Series C funding. The round was led by new investor Insight Partners, with participation from existing investors  Cisco Investments, Lightspeed Venture Partners,  Norwest Venture Partners and Redpoint Ventures. Teddie Wardi, managing director, Insight Partners will also join the Dremio Board of Directors.

Dremio has grown annual recurring revenue (ARR) over 3.5x over the past year and partnered with many of the world’s leading Global 2000 companies, to power their cloud and hybrid data lakes. With this investment, the company will continue fueling its rapid growth by investing in expanded product capabilities as well as scaling go-to-market and engineering operations across the globe.

“Data is an integral part of every business, and in today’s market, cost-efficient approaches to data analytics are critical,” said Billy Bosworth, CEO, Dremio. “Dremio’s Data Lake Engine makes analytics directly on data lake storage fast, efficient, and secure, which drives down cloud infrastructure costs while giving data consumers what they need, when they need it.”

According to International Data Corporation (IDC) Big Data and Analytics Spending Guide, BDA revenues will maintain this pace of growth throughout the 2018-2022 forecast with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.2%. By 2022, IDC expects worldwide BDA revenue will be $274.3 billion. Data lakes allow for the cost-effective storage of large amounts of data in various formats as opposed to relational databases and other data stores. However, the exploding rate of data growth coupled with low query performance from traditional SQL engines means access to that data remains difficult — typically forcing complex data copying and movement into much more expensive data warehouses and cumbersome data marts. Dremio is addressing these challenges by helping data teams drastically decrease their cloud costs and increase their analytics performance at the same time.

“Dremio addresses the key challenges enterprises face with data moving to the cloud at rapidly increasing volumes,” said Teddie Wardi, managing director at Insight Partners. “The open architecture, high performance, and low cost are benefits that all resonate strongly with customers. Catering to the needs of data teams, business users and IT alike, we believe Dremio is a foundational piece in building modern data platforms.”

Dremio’s Data Lake Engine delivers fast query speeds and a self-service semantic layer that operates directly against data lake storage. With Dremio, enterprise analytics and data teams connect directly to data sets stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, Microsoft ADLS, and on-premises Hadoop — without having to send their data to Dremio or copy and move it into proprietary data warehouses.

  • Accedian Announces Enhanced Skylight Capabilities, Industry’s First Solution to Bring High-definition Active Testing and Passive Packet Analysis into a Unified View

Skylight’s single pane of glass view allows for augmented data correlation and analytics, resulting in faster identification and resolution of network issues

MONTREAL, Canada – March 24, 2019 – Accedian, the leader in performance analytics and end user experience solutions, today announced that its cloud-native performance monitoring and analytics platform, Skylight, has added significant new capabilities enabling increased performance visibility across application, cloud, and network infrastructure in a unified view. This release combines full stack end user experience visibility with deep passive and active network infrastructure insights.

Skylight generates and analyzes huge volumes of active, high-definition network testing data and passive, traffic-based service experience data in real time to provide levels of visibility and flexibility that are not possible or available in a singular solution today. Third party data can also be added to augment Skylight sensor analysis and insights.

With Skylight, organizations will have pervasive visibility of their entire environment and the added value of enhanced analytics and data correlation, resulting in faster root cause identification of network issues, the ability to drill-down to microsecond granularity for network events, and predictive problem identification. Cloud native and orchestrated, Skylight is the complete user experience and network optimization system enterprises need today.

According to recent Vanson Bourne research, almost half (46%) of all CIOs surveyed said that migrating IT environments to deliver industry-leading performance and customer experience is a top priority for the coming two years. However, 35% of these same CIOs surveyed believe they are not equipped with the resources and tools needed to meet customer demands. They face challenges around the ability to analyze data from disparate systems, as well as the costs associated with data storage. Skylight attacks these issues head on, offering a software-based tool that is both flexible and economical—Skylight’s compact, structured and intelligent metadata technology makes it both scalable, to empower enterprises to monitor small to extremely large deployments, and able to retain historical data without the costs associated with storage of full packet captures. As a result, IT teams can gain a unified view of application and network performance across the entire organization, from headquarters and central on-premises data centers, to the cloud and remote locations.

“Enterprises are moving applications to the cloud faster than ever before but they struggle with visibility into complex, multi-tier applications. We are proud of the advances we have made to help our customers overcome these challenges by delivering the industry’s first unified network tool that provides both active and passive insights at this level of granularity and scale,” said Tom Foottit, VP Product Management, Accedian. “Skylight leverages cutting-edge technologies to offer highly accurate analysis to our customers so they can continue innovating at the accelerated pace required for leading modern businesses.”

“In an increasingly competitive landscape, it’s critical for us to continue providing industry-leading solutions to our customers so they, in turn, are able to deliver seamless digital experiences to their customers,” said Gareth Humphreys, Solution Manager at Solution Performance Group. “We’re excited about the new capabilities delivering valuable insights into both application and network performance in a unified view that is unique in the industry. IT teams cannot be better equipped than with Skylight to help them identify and solve performance issues quickly before they impact the customer experience.”

“Network operations teams are desperate for this kind of consolidation because it can streamline operations and improve their visibility into application performance, end user experience, and security events,” added Shamus McGillicuddy, Vice President of Research, Network Management, for Enterprise Management Associates (EMA).

  • Sysdig Provides the First Cloud-Scale Prometheus Monitoring Offering

Company focuses on scale, workflows and enterprise access controls for cloud application monitoring

SAN FRANCISCO — March 24, 2020 — Sysdig, Inc., the secure DevOps leader, today announced cloud monitoring at scale with full Prometheus compatibility. Sysdig addresses the issues of scale, data retention, and enterprise access controls that hold teams back from organization-wide adoption of Prometheus monitoring. Sysdig also introduces support for creating dashboards, alerts, and metric analytics based on PromQL, the query language for Prometheus. Sysdig is the only enterprise monitoring solution to be fully compatible with Prometheus. This allows customers to retain their investment in existing Prometheus exporters, configurations, alerts, and dashboards. With Sysdig, DevOps and cloud teams can scale their visibility, security, and troubleshooting capabilities with a supported platform that simplifies management.

In a separate release today, the company announced PromCat.io, a free repository of curated Prometheus exporters, dashboards, and alerts to monitor any infrastructure, application, and services running in the cloud. Sysdig offers documentation and suggested configurations for PromCat integrations.

“Many of our teams started with Prometheus. However, scaling and retention became difficult. When looking for a monitoring solution, I wanted something that fit well into the ecosystem and supported Prometheus,” said Jason McGee, vice president and chief technology officer for IBM Cloud Platform at IBM. “Central context, to see all of the components of your application in one place, is a requirement. Before adopting Sysdig, we had a very distributed environment, like islands of monitoring. Each team could only see their service. There was no way to see what was going on overall.”

Organizations are moving to the cloud and DevOps workflows to ship applications faster. However, meeting customer expectations requires complete visibility into infrastructure, services, and applications across multi and hybrid clouds and on-premises data centers.

Developers are rapidly adopting open source Prometheus to monitor the performance of their applications. With more than 13,500 code commits and 6,300 contributors, Prometheus adoption is accelerating. However, as organizations transition to full-scale production, they encounter scaling and workflow issues. Additional requirements — including the need for centralized and scalable metric stores, a unified view across clusters and services, and out-of-the-box insights — are needed in order to reduce risk and maintain application availability. Without a macro view of the environment, it is difficult to anticipate issues with microservices that have cross-platform dependencies.

    New Features

Fully Compatible Prometheus Monitoring: As organizations scale cloud deployments, they want to retain the industry-standard monitoring approach their developers prefer. Sysdig is the only cloud-scale monitoring solution fully compatible with Prometheus and the PromQL query language. This enables DevOps teams to retain their investment in existing Prometheus exporters, configurations, alerts, and dashboards. The Sysdig platform enhances their existing capabilities with greater scale, visibility, security, troubleshooting, and support.

Cloud Scale: With microservices and Kubernetes, scaling is a major hurdle. With Kubernetes, there is an increase in the number of objects and labels to track. With microservices, there is a dramatic increase in instances to monitor and therefore, the number of metrics to collect. Additionally, with Prometheus, companies are forced to monitor each Prometheus server on its own, making it difficult to view trends that would be visible from a unified view. Issues on microservices that have cross platform dependencies may go unnoticed.

The Sysdig Secure DevOps Platform provides a scalable system that can handle more than 100 million metrics per second, and retain up to 13 months of data. Sysdig is the monitoring solution for IBM Cloud Platform, one of the largest Prometheus monitoring deployments today. With Sysdig, teams can adopt Prometheus compatible monitoring using an enterprise-ready platform.

    Other enhancements

    • Long-Term Datastore: With Sysdig’s data storage, Prometheus metrics are stored for 13 months, instead of just days or weeks. This gives DevOps teams access to long-term analysis to make better informed capacity planning and resource usage decisions.
    • Out-of-the-Box Kubernetes Dashboards: Sysdig reduces complexity and time to production with out-of-the-box Kubernetes dashboards. By bringing together platform monitoring and workload monitoring, DevOps teams can resolve issues faster.

“Prometheus brings tremendous value to developers which is why we standardized our monitoring approach on the open source project,” said Payal Chakravarty, vice president, product management at Sysdig. “There are, however, scaling challenges for the enterprise. By extending Prometheus monitoring, we’re able to help enterprises to use the Prometheus monitoring approach they love, while also giving them the scale, workflows, controls, and insights they need to maximize performance and availability.”

    The Sysdig Approach

To date, Sysdig is the only security company to support a secure DevOps approach by integrating monitoring and security into a single platform. Cloud teams can embed security, maximize availability, and ensure compliance. By integrating security into the DevOps process, teams can realize the business goals in their transition to cloud native. Sysdig is a strong advocate for open source technologies, including three open source technologies created by the company, sysdig, Sysdig Inspect, and Falco, an open source cloud-native runtime security project. Currently, Falco is an incubation-level hosted project in the CNCF.
