DevSecOps Days Virtual Summit: The Best of Dev, Sec and Ops

We’re fresh off RSA Conference 2020 and the live version of DevOps Connect: DevSecOps Days, a daylong event packed with industry experts speaking on all things Dev, Sec, Ops and variations of the three. It was highly successful in both attendance and knowledge-sharing, so once again we’ve taken the entire event virtual and bringing it to you.

  • Deadline Extended! Get Your Tools Included in Our DevOps Tools Directory

Deadline Extended! Get Your Tools Included in Our DevOps Tools Directory

We’ve extended the deadline for inclusion in the DevOps Tools Directory, due to the number of last-minute entries we’ve received so far. The new deadline is this Friday, Sept. 20, so don’t wait!

The DevOps market is growing so fast that it’s getting difficult for us (and, I’m sure, you) to keep up with all the new players out there. That’s why we’ve put together a tools survey that we hope tools vendors will take part in, so that we can create a comprehensive directory that developers, IT operations and executives can use to discover the right tool for their DevOps toolchain.

The survey is also going to be used to help us recognize the top vendors in each category through our annual DevOps Tools Awards. (Did someone say awards?)

The DevOps Tools Survey breaks tools into categories based on their utility as they relate to building applications. The categories are: creating, assuring, assembling, securing, delivering, running and analyzing. Organizations can submit up to three tools to be included in the directory.

Want to be a part of the action and get your tool listed? Simply click on this link to get started. The process takes only about 10 minutes max, and will give us the information we need to get your tool included. It costs nothing to be included in the directory, and enhanced listings are available as well.

Hurry, time’s running out! Don’t wait! The deadline for submissions is Sept. 20.

  • Got a DevOps Tool? Take Part in Our Annual DevOps Tools Survey

Got a DevOps Tool? Take Part in Our Annual DevOps Tools Survey

The DevOps tools market is growing at a fast clip, with market values ranging from $8 billion to $12 billion worldwide by 2022, depending on which analyst you trust most. That growth is due in large part to the number of vendors entering the DevOps space, offering a bevy of tools designed specifically for addressing the need for organizations to bring applications to market faster while improving quality and securely.

The market is growing so fast, in fact, that it’s getting difficult for us (and, I’m sure, you) to keep up with all the new players out there. That’s why we’ve put together a tools survey that we hope tools vendors will take part in. Our goal is to create a comprehensive directory that developers, IT operations and executives can use to discover the right tool for their DevOps toolchain.

  • Sessions Highlight Security at DevOps World | Jenkins World 2019

Sessions Highlight Security at DevOps World | Jenkins World 2019

Security, security, security!  Everyone is always talking about it, but are we doing anything about it?  It’s daunting, it’s a huge topic, where do you even start? Start with this selection of sessions at this year’s DevOps World | Jenkins World event, geared to help you make real, tangible improvements to the security of your source code infrastructure. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming or confusing; experts from Fugue, Contrast Security, and CloudBees can help you out with practical examples and automation approaches that improve your security posture without magnifying your workload.

Using Chaos Engineering for Resilient Cloud Infrastructure Security Infrastructure misconfiguration is the top cause of cloud data breaches today due to human error, a lack of policy controls in CI/CD pipelines, and threat actors. These malicious actors are often able to find and exploit the vulnerabilities caused by misconfigurations before legitimate cloud tools can. As a result, security teams can only react to the exploit instead of preventing it. One way to avoid reactionary security is to perform misconfiguration simulations and identify security gaps before threat actors do. This session will cover how cloud misconfigurations happen and how to avoid them. Ricardo Green – Fugue – Senior Solutions Architect

Thinking about Jenkins Security This session is a condensed version of a training course accompanied by demonstrations of important security concepts and best practices for protecting Jenkins. Mark Waite – CloudBees – Technical Evangelist
Automating Application Security for Modern Software Traditional approaches to application security slow down software development and deployment while the shortage of skilled security staff makes many tasks unmanageable. This session will cover how automation can help with software vulnerability detection and exploit prevention, as well as how to incorporate it into the CI/CD process and Jenkins pipeline. Robert Statsinger – Contrast Security – Senior Solutions Architect

  • Help a Student Out and Advance DevOps in Academia

Help a Student Out and Advance DevOps in Academia

Those of us who attended university know the pressures students face every day. Between attending classes, completing homework, figuring out what they really want to do with their life and all of the other assorted adulting they have to manage, college students have a lot going on. That’s why a little help can go a long way.

Take Gabriel Cogo, for example. He’s a Ph.D. student at Texas Tech University in the Management Information Systems Department. He is working on his dissertation, the topic of which is DevOps, mostly focusing on the organizational impact and the factors that lead to successful DevOps adoption by organizations. He needs to gather information from DevOps professionals, such as IT analysts and managers, and reached out to devopsy.kinsta.cloud to see if we could help spread the word.

    From Cogo’s letter:

… DevOps is an important topic, but so far not very much research has been done to help us understand how it works in actual companies.

We ask that you participate by completing this survey. Additionally, if possible, I ask that you forward this survey to other colleagues in the IT department, preferably from different levels in the company (e.g., analyst, manager, CIO).

This is an online survey that can be taken on your computer or smartphone, and we anticipate that it will take no more than 20-30 minutes to complete.

This survey is completely anonymous, and we will only ask for the optional name of the company, so we can better understand the characteristics of our sample. To participate in this research please click the link:

    http://ttu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3z5Oh7ApF1za1pz

You are free to leave at any time. We greatly value your participation in this study.

For those interested, Cogo has shared with us the executive summary of his dissertation, which is available here.

So whaddya say, want to help a student out?
