  • Welcome to Techstrong Group

    Welcome to Techstrong Group

Today is a big day in the neighborhood. What neighborhood, you ask? If you are involved in DevOps, cloud-native, cybersecurity or digital transformation, you are in that neighborhood. Today we launch Techstrong Group. Techstrong Group is a combination of all the companies I have been involved in within this neighborhood. It represents the greatest breadth of brands, services, content and tools to help those in our neighborhood. It is the power source for people and technology.

The combination of MediaOps—the people behind devopsy.kinsta.cloud, Security Boulevard, Container Journal, Techstrong TV and more—along with the DevOps Institute, Accelerated Strategies Group and Prospera Events makes Techstrong Group the most comprehensive provider of thought leadership and information to people and companies in our field.

Techstrong Group also represents the coming together of everything I have worked on over the last eight years. When I launched devopsy.kinsta.cloud back in 2013, I knew we were at a pivotal point in technology adoption. The internet had changed the world, but another transformation was coming. This digital transformation didn’t start with the COVID-19 pandemic, but it illuminated the fact that if you weren’t transforming digitally, it would be difficult—if not impossible—to thrive in this new normal.

This belief that DevOps would be a catalyst in changing the world was shared with me by Jayne Groll, one of my co-founders at DevOps Institute and now my co-founder at Techstrong Group. Over the last six or seven years, Jayne has worked tirelessly to help the “Humans of DevOps” and now will continue that mission as Chief Strategy Officer at Techstrong Group.

Along the way, I have had a chance to meet and work with some tremendous people. My longtime friend Mitchell Ashley, who was a co-founder at StillSecure with me (along with Rajat Bhargava, who founded StillSecure), founded Accelerated Strategies Group. He is now CTO of Techstrong Group, as well as principal at Techstrong Research, which is where the Accelerated Strategies Group business will operate (more about that in a moment).

Sean Lowery, another friend who founded and runs Prospera Events, the people behind the InnoTech conferences for more than a dozen years, has also joined Techstrong Group, in our Techstrong Live events business unit. We are excited to have Sean and the whole Prospera team as part of Techstrong Group and officially welcome them to the family.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention some other important people in the Techstrong Group team. Parker Yates, our Chief Revenue Officer, has been in this adventure with me since day one. Andre Pino, who joined us from CloudBees, heads up our marketing and operations team as Chief Marketing Officer. He is assisted by Heidi Gilmore who as VP of Marketing has really cranked up our marketing efforts. Charlene O’Hanlon, who started with me at MediaOps more than five years ago as a contract editor, is now Chief Content Officer. Marc Halcrow, who has helped Jayne make DevOps Institute the market leader it is, is now our SVP of Corporate Development and Strategic Partnerships. Finally, our newest executive member, Jason Baum, heads up our Techstrong Association and membership efforts.

Of course, these are just the executive team members. Techstrong Group is more than 50 people strong with dozens of other contributors. We are grateful for every one of them, who have made what we do possible.

But none of this would be possible without you. We believe we serve today’s “Masters of the Universe,” the people who are making our digital world possible. The worlds of DevOps, cloud-native, cybersecurity, which are all part of digital transformation, are remaking the world before our eyes. We know you; we believe we know what you want and how we can help.

It is critical for technology professionals at all levels to understand how technology can improve business processes, revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction. Techstrong Group’s goal is to create a place where technology leaders and practitioners gather to exchange ideas and continually learn, grow and succeed.

To help with this mission, we have organized into several distinct business units:

    •     Techstrong Media: The business unit with most of the existing MediaOps brands—devopsy.kinsta.cloud, Container Journal, Security Boulevard and Techstrong TV.
    •     Techstrong Associations: The business unit comprised of DevOps Institute and the Humans of DevOps association.
    •     Techstrong Research: Our analyst and research business, which includes Accelerated Strategies Group.
    •     Techstrong Live: Our events-focused business unit, which produces both in-person and virtual events.
    •     Techstrong Education: You will be hearing more about Techstrong Education in the coming weeks and months.

Over the coming weeks and months, you will see more of the full Techstrong Group vision roll out. I hope you find it compelling and will entrust us with the greatest gift you can give: your time. We value you and your time; we know our mission and will continue to try and make sure we live up to our tagline, “The power source for people and technology.”

So, welcome to Techstrong Group. We don’t view today as the culmination of our story; rather, it is the end of our prologue. Now the true adventure begins. Strap in: The world is an exciting place right now and we want to help you get the most out of it.

  • MediaOps and DevOps Institute Earn Inc. 5000 Honors

MediaOps and DevOps Institute Earn Inc. 5000 Honors

I am really proud to announce today that both MediaOps and DevOps Institute have been honored by Inc. and earned inclusion in the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in America.

For MediaOps, this is the second year in a row we have earned this honor. For DevOps Institute, it is the first year they have been honored. First of all, congratulations to all of the great people who work at and make both MediaOps and DevOps Institute the great companies they are. None of the success of these companies would be possible without their talent, skills, hard work and dedication. Thanks to all of you.

Secondly, as the founder/co-founder of both of these organizations, I can’t tell you how proud I am that both of these companies have not only had the success they have (as evidenced by this honor) but that they have done so in the middle of a global pandemic. It really makes all of the hard work and the long days and nights worthwhile.

For anyone who has ever started a business, you know that you put a certain amount of your blood, sweat and tears into any venture you are involved in. It is no different here! Since 2014 I have put everything I could into growing MediaOps into the company it is today. For DevOps Institute, I was lucky to have my partner Jayne Groll, DevOps Institute CEO, take the lead in making DevOps Institute the leading member organization/certification authority in the DevOps space today.

Yes, you hope the monetary rewards of founding a company make it all worthwhile. But this kind of recognition is also very gratifying. It gives you the extra spring in your step and makes the load lighter.

These awards also highlight something else. The ascendancy of technology. It is no coincidence that both of these companies play in the digital transformation space and have seen such success. Digital transformation is driving the world right now. Software is driving digital transformation, and DevOps, cybersecurity and cloud are driving software.

At the end of the day, it is a great honor to have not one but two companies you started win this award at the same time. I think it speaks volumes about the future of both of these organizations. More news on that front is coming, so stay tuned for more great things coming from MediaOps and DevOps Institute!

    Methodology

The 2021 Inc. 5000 Regionals are ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2017 and 2019. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2019. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2017 is $100,000; the minimum for 2019 is $1 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons.

  • MediaOps Teams with Gary Berman to Add “CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” to Its Award-Winning Lineup of Video Series

MediaOps Teams with Gary Berman to Add “CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” to Its Award-Winning Lineup of Video Series

Hacking Victim Turned Cyber Advocate Gary Berman Joins MediaOps to Co-Produce and Distribute His Unique Show Highlighting Cyber and IT Thought Leaders Protecting the Public

Boca Raton, Fl – Sept. 14, 2020 —  MediaOps, the place to tell your story in the most powerful way, today announced it has teamed with hacking-victim-turned-cyber-advocate Gary Berman to co-produce and distribute the “CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” video podcast. The show will join MediaOps’ award-winning lineup of video programming including TechStrong TV, DevOps Unbound and CISO Talk, all on the Digital Anarchist platform.

“CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” is an educational and entertaining series based on interviews with cybersecurity and IT thought leaders who protect the public from cyber attacks. Berman conducts in-depth interviews with industry experts to discuss real-life cyber crime stories, anecdotes and lessons learned.

Berman was a victim of cyber criminals earlier in his career, when he ran his own marketing firm, which ended in the loss of his business. Berman pivoted from being a victim to becoming an advocate, and after a 25-year career in marketing, entered the cybersecurity field with a mission to protect others from suffering the life-altering consequences of being hacked. In each episode, he shines a light on all the unsung heroes who toil in anonymity to keep us safe at work, home and school.

As an advocate, Berman was challenged by the complexity of cyber technology, attempting to distill complicated technology information into a communications platform accessible not just to the cybersecurity community but also to the general public. With support from the tech community contributing real-life stories of cybercrime, Berman launched the cyber hero comics series. The “CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” show was launched from the comics.

“I am proud to join the world-class professionals at MediaOps, as the next step in accomplishing my mission. Together, we are creating a highly engaging, entertaining and informative show that will be the antidote to the ‘Zoomification’ of the cybersecurity and IT community,” said Berman.

“Gary brings a fresh, unique perspective to his cyber awareness mission. We look forward to working with him and making his show a must-watch for both the cyber community and civilians looking for sound cybersecurity advice,” said Alan Shimel, CEO of MediaOps. “Our mission is bringing quality programming to our ever-growing audience across our omniversal channels. The CyberHero Adventures video series is a great example of this.”

“CyberHero Adventures: Defenders of the Digital Universe” will be available via the Digital Anarchist network and streamed via TechStrong TV, which is available on the web at LinkedIn Live (devopsy.kinsta.cloud page), Facebook Live (devopsy.kinsta.cloud page), YouTube (DevOps TV channel), Techstrong.tv, DigitalAnarchist.com and the MediaOps community sites (devopsy.kinsta.cloud, Security Boulevard and Container Journal). The show will also be available on the devopsy.kinsta.cloud mobile app for iOS and Android and on TV via devopsy.kinsta.cloud app for OTT channels on Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.  Episodes are available on-demand at Digital Anarchist, the next-gen streaming service for tech communities, which offers in-depth coverage on DevOps, cybersecurity, cloud-native and digital transformation, adding high-quality content on a regular basis.
