  • Delphix and GenRocket Team Up to Improve Software Quality

    Combining privacy-compliant full datasets from Delphix, with data subset and synthetic data from GenRocket, creates a comprehensive dataset for complex enterprise application testing.

    Ojai, CA, March 02, 2021 –(PR.com)– Delphix, the pioneer in programmable data infrastructure, and GenRocket, the Test Data Automation (TDA) technology leader, have announced a technology alliance designed to fulfill the needs of enterprise customers who desire a comprehensive test data solution that improves software quality.

    Uncovering software issues early in the development cycle keeps poor-quality code from moving down the pipeline where it becomes increasingly difficult to discover and expensive to fix, or worse, escapes into production. In “The Cost of Poor Software Quality in the US: A 2020 Report,” CISQ estimates a staggering $2.08 trillion was lost last year alone because of software defects, fragile legacy systems, cybersecurity failures and failed IT projects.

    Enterprise applications are vast and complex and finding defects requires sophisticated test plans that cover a staggering array of use cases, transactions and functionality. To create rapid feedback loops on the quality of an application as it passes through testing stages, Agile development teams have shifted left by testing early and often. Maintaining a continuous flow of quality data to test environments is essential to ensure complete test coverage.

    Delphix fills a critical gap in the DevOps toolchain with automated provisioning of production-quality test data, delivering complete, masked virtual copies of production databases to test environments, in minutes. GenRocket’s complementary capabilities provide data subsets and a patented synthetic data solution for application development and test environments.

    The end-to-end test data solution ensures development environments can thoroughly exercise all data-related permutations and branches of an enterprise application, edge cases that are known to exist, and net-new database schema or functionality that have no production data yet.

    “At Delphix, we believe every company has the opportunity to dramatically accelerate software release cycles and improve software quality by automating the process of delivering ephemeral, compliant, data-ready environments across the multi-cloud,” said Dan Graves, CTO at Delphix. “The combination of full data sets from Delphix with synthetic data generation capabilities from GenRocket gives our joint customers the best of both worlds when it comes to testing with data.”

    “At the heart of this partnership is absolute alignment of vision for the future of test data management: A fusion of data virtualization with synthetic data generation to deliver unprecedented test coverage, quality and speed,” noted Garth Rose CEO and Co-founder of GenRocket. “We are excited to partner with Delphix to deliver best-in-class solutions for realizing that vision.”

  • Delphix Accelerates YoY Growth Rate by Over 85%, Swings to Profitability

    Digital Transformation Imperative Drives Need for API-First Data Platform

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 02, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Delphix, the pioneer in programmable data infrastructure, saw rising demand for its data delivery capabilities, as digital transformation took on new urgency with the pandemic in 2020. The surge in demand accelerated Delphix’s annual growth rate by over 85% for the fiscal year ending January 2021 compared to the prior year, pushing the company into non-GAAP profitability. Delphix also achieved a world-class Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 89 during the fiscal year ending January 2021.

    Urgency around digital transformation programs are expected to continue over the next several years. To satisfy the demand, Delphix added senior executives in field operations, customer success, and sales with experience scaling to over a billion dollars in revenue.

    “We helped companies around the world quickly expand their digital operations,” said Delphix CEO Jedidiah Yueh. “Cloud, DevOps, and AI/ML put enormous pressure on data delivery and the need for our API-first data platform.”

    Over the last decade, code, networks, servers, and storage have all been automated by cloud and infrastructure vendors. But data has remained heavy, complex, and filled with security and privacy risk.

    To achieve cloud speed and scale, enterprises need programmable data infrastructure—data that is automated, secure, and easily moved to anywhere it’s needed across the multi-cloud.

    But digital transformation programs often starve for data and application environments, which can slow or derail transformation progress. Without data-ready environments, projects hemorrhage developer productivity, miss timelines, and overrun budgets.

    Delphix’s data platform helps customers satisfy the data demands of transformation programs, with use cases including:

    • DevOps & CI/CD: Morgan Stanley uses Delphix to incorporate production-quality data into automated CI/CD workflows used by multiple application development teams, accelerating the delivery of new features for trading and booking applications.
    • AI/ML: JGC Holdings Corporation uses Delphix to automate the delivery of large volumes of data across multiple sources for AI/ML, giving data scientists and analytics teams the ability to better predict project outcomes, reduce project risks, and reduce plant costs.
    • Downtime Reduction: Michelin uses Delphix to reduce the risk of outages and the mean time to repair (MTTR) for critical systems that rely upon data and batch processing to optimize tire supply and delivery, saving millions of dollars a year in downtime cost avoidance.

    An IDC study reveals that companies employing programmable data infrastructure increase revenue by an average of $15M, boost development productivity by 40%, and reduce infrastructure costs by 72%.

    “At Delphix, we not only accelerate digital transformation programs, we also help customers protect personal privacy and data security,” added Yueh. “Our immutable time machine and data masking capabilities increase project velocity while reducing risk. It’s a win-win.”

  • Delphix Accelerates Shift to Digital for Global Enterprises

    Data Platform Now Provides Comprehensive Coverage From Kubernetes to Mainframes

    REDWOOD CITY, California, May 28, 2020 — Delphix, the industry leader in DataOps, announced the completion of its original mission to provide a comprehensive data platform to accelerate digital and customer experience transformation for global enterprises.

    With physical lockdowns rolling across the world, companies have accelerated the shift from physical to digital business models and operations. Enterprises need to adapt quickly to these changing market conditions or risk being disrupted by more agile competitors.

    “With our latest platform release, we’ve completed our original mission,” said Jedidiah Yueh, Delphix Founder and CEO. “In order to drive digital or customer experience transformations, companies need to harness data across a multi-generational range of systems, from ERP implementations to apps running on the mainframe. Our platform collects data across these systems to fuel cloud, AI, and other digital transformation programs—cutting time and cost by more than 20%.”

    Delphix was founded in 2008, during the last financial crisis, to help companies do more with their data. The Delphix DataOps Platform started with support for Oracle databases and applications. Early customers quickly loaded ERP systems like SAP and Oracle EBS onto the platform, achieving dramatic results.

    “We tried a new technology and won big,” said a senior IT manager at KLA-Tencor, a Fortune 1000 manufacturer and the first company to deploy Delphix. “Delphix provides the elasticity to expand our project infrastructure when we need it.” KLA-Tencor used Delphix to go from two to eleven SAP projects a year, while reducing data footprint by 94% and saving over $400K in infrastructure costs.

    “Data is the key constraint for complex projects like SAP releases,” said Ashwin Ballal, former CIO at KLA-Tencor. “SAP projects cost millions and are critical for managing core business processes like order to cash.”

    After Oracle databases and applications, Delphix added support for Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, SAP ASE, SAP HANA, and other major applications and database platforms. “Customers need a comprehensive data platform to help drive transformations,” said Yueh. “Otherwise, it’s like trying to fly a plane without sufficient instrumentation. With our most recent platform release, we have completed everything on our initial roadmap.”

    In 2019, Delphix made its data platform SDKs available to ISVs. Since launching its SDKs and the DataOps marketplace, Delphix data coverage has expanded to include:

    • Legacy platforms: mainframe, Informix, etc.
    • New data platforms: MongoDB, CouchDB, MariaDB, etc.
    • Cloud platforms: Aurora, RedShift, Azure SQL, etc.
    • Workflow, monitoring platforms: ServiceNow, Splunk, etc.
    • Automation platforms: Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, etc.

    In addition, over the last decade, the Delphix platform has achieved a series of significant scale milestones, while supporting many of the world’s largest companies on their transformation programs:

    • Over 100,000 development, testing, and analytics environments;
    • Over 30,000 customer applications released per year;
    • Over 2 million automated data operations;
    • Over 2 exabytes of customer data across private and public clouds.

    “We have customers managing thousands of releases and approaching a million monthly CI pipeline runs on our platform,” said Jason Grauel, Delphix VP of Product Management. “That would be impossible without API-driven access to a range of sophisticated data operations.”

    The Delphix DataOps Platform provides critical features that instrument data across the application lifecycle including:

    • Virtualization, which radically shrinks data footprint;
    • Time machine to travel to any point in time;
    • Version control, which lets developers and data scientists manage data like code;
    • Compliance, which includes profiling, templates, and automated data masking;
    • Integration to enable fast data synchronization across systems;
    • Replication to move data across private and public clouds;
    • Automation to integrate with DevOps and CI/CD tools.

    It took Delphix a decade to achieve its original mission, which laid the foundation for enterprise-wide data coverage. Over that period Delphix also built a profitable business with over $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Now Delphix is looking to the future.

    “We use Delphix to synchronize and extract student data from on-prem to AWS for the CSU Chancellor’s Office,” said Rudy Gonzales, Unisys Program Director at California State University. “Now that we have a super-fast data bridge to the cloud, we’re able to harness AI technologies to drive better student outcomes. I’m excited to see where Delphix takes its data platform next.”

    “The ability to quickly and securely collect and distribute data across the entire spectrum of multi-generational systems is compelling,” said Jim Mercer, research director, DevOps, IDC. “It can help enterprises accelerate digital transformation programs and more easily embrace disruptive technologies like AI and cloud.”

    “With the foundation in place, the next 10-year horizon is focused on unlocking the full value of the data in our platform,” said Yueh. “Cloud, AI, and the regulatory horizon are forming the perfect storm. Our native data operations, APIs, and SDKs make it increasingly easy for customers and ISVs to weave data across their compliance and transformation programs. And we’ll continue to invest in building out that ecosystem.

    “In the end, we believe that every company is a data company if it wants to survive. And if companies want to master data operations, they’ll need a purpose-built platform to manage data across the ongoing transformation lifecycle.”

    • Delphix will host the first-ever (virtual) Data Company Conference on June 25th, 2020, highlights of which include:
    • Opening Keynote by Jedidiah Yueh: 7 Deadly Sins in the Age of AI;

  • Delphix Drives Significant Growth Across its Business, Driven by the Demand for Data to Accelerate Innovation

    Fortune 100 companies use Delphix to deliver data quickly and securely to fuel critical digital transformation initiatives

    REDWOOD CITY, C alif. , May 8, 2019 – Delphix , the company helping enterprises accelerate innovation through DataOp s, today announced continued momentum across its portfolio of top
    global enterprises. During its fiscal year 2019, Delphix reported significant expansion amongst its customer use cases, t he addition of sophisticated talent to the company’s leadership team
    and executive board, and industry validation from global partners like Capgemini, Accenture, AWS, Microsoft, SAP, and more.

    In a world where every company must become a data company , the ability to leverage data as a strategic asset is the key to continuous innovation and establishing market leadership. However,
    the confluence of the increase in the size and complexity of data volumes, regulation and security concerns, and the speed at which innovators now need to consume data is overwhelming to most organizations. Waiting days, weeks, or even months to deliver data starves innovation and jeopardizes the future of the business. “ Despite the best-laid plans, most companies fail to leverage data as a strategic asset. The conflict between managing and securing vast amounts of disparate data and the free flow distribution of data to those who need it to drive business velocity is stifling innovation ,” said Delphix CEO Chris Cook. “Delphix provides the speed and security enterprises need to keep pace with the demands of today’s data-driven economy. The growth and expansion of our customers’ success underscore how fundamentally invaluable Delphix is for enterprises navigating mission-critical digital transformation initiatives.”

    The cycle of modern application development and innovation is only getting faster and more complex. The majority of organizations are quickly recognizing the dire need for a new
    paradigm. Enter: DataOps, the alignment of people, process and technology to enable more agile and automated approaches to data management. Both Gartner and 451 Research recently
    called DataOps an emerging top solution for enabling data transformation and allowing companies to innovate at the speed necessary to stay competitive.

    The Industry’s Secret Weapon
    Delphix customers include category leaders across industries—from retail to finance and healthcare. At the end of 2018, Delphix saw a significant boost in new customers with over $500K in revenue (a 21 percent increase from the previous year) and $1 million in revenue (a 28 percent increase from the previous year). Delphix customers represent the most successful, cutting-edge companies in the world including:
    ● One-third of companies in the Fortune 50;
    ● Four of the top five banks;
    ● Two of the top five telecommunications companies;

    Delphix customers have significantly expanded usage of the Delphix Dynamic Data Platform over the past year. Since 2018, weekly active users have increased by nearly 50% and the
    number of data sources on the platform has risen by 100%. In April of 2019 alone, Delphix’s customers deployed 50,000 Data Pods to speed up application releases. Today Delphix
    currently powers 14,000 TB of data for companies—nearly 1000 times the size of all data stored in the United States Library of Congress. “No matter what industry you work in, access to fresh, secure data is the only way to keep up with the demands of today’s digital economy,” said Glenn Di Biasi, the CIO of NYU’s Stern School of Business. “Solutions like Delphix empower teams to become more agile without sacrificing security and privacy compliance. Fast moving, secure data allows you to keep pace with the speed of innovation, deliver value to your customers, and stay competitive in the last mile of digital transformation.”
    “The extent to which companies are able to transform digitally to respond to changing customer demands and competitive threats will define their ability to survive and thrive,” said Matt Aslett,
    Research VP, 451 Research. “Data is the fuel of intelligence-driven digital transformation and Delphix has demonstrated that it can help enterprises accelerate application development as
    well as manage data security regulations to provide them with the potential to lead in their respective markets.”

  • Leading Healthcare Insurers and Providers Leverage Delphix To Accelerate Innovation In An Age Where Data Is New Healthcare Currency

    Over 30 of the world’s leading healthcare organizations—like Delta Dental of Michigan, Molina Healthcare, Alberta Blue Cross, and Trifecta—use Delphix solutions to accelerate innovation, drive growth in this $10 trillion market.

    SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 30, 2019:  Delphix, the company helping enterprises accelerate innovation through DataOps, today announced a major milestone for the company with the growing usage of the platform by leading healthcare organizations. Over 30 of the world’s most dynamic healthcare companies now use Delphix to deliver rapid and secure access to data to enable accelerated innovation and better experiences for their customers. The Delphix Dynamic Platform provides rapid data provisioning, secure data masking, and self-service data access while helping companies stay compliant with HIPAA and meet other sweeping data privacy regulations.

    Shifting Consumer Demands, New Funding Models, Heavy Compliance Burdens and Legacy Technology Stifle Innovation

    Digital transformation in the healthcare industry is evolving at an increasingly rapid pace. According to Deloitte’s 2019 Global Healthcare Outlook, enhancing the patient experience through transformational technologies is a top priority for leading healthcare providers. With rising consumer demands, the emergence of personalized medicine, and revamped payment and public funding models, the healthcare industry is at an inflection point for massive digital disruption.

    At the same time, the challenge of managing, securing and providing access to large volumes of patient data threatens to stifle innovation. Strict privacy laws such as HIPAA compound this issue even more and make it nearly impossible to innovate at the speed needed to remain competitive and meet ever-changing consumer demands. However, as the pain points of data management get worse, the current solutions for delivering data to developers, testers and analysts who are tasked with creating new applications, new risk assessment models, or new patient experiences simply aren’t cutting it. Without the right solutions:

    • Application development teams must wait days or even weeks to access data that supports continuous integration testing and continuous delivery;
    • Data analysts and data scientists are unable to analyze or train models on the most recent and most realistic data sets;
    • Compliance teams struggle to ensure that non-production data is as secure and compliant as production data.

    Delphix Enables Healthcare Companies To Embrace Continuous Innovation

    Delphix is the only comprehensive platform that empowers organizations to achieve continuous integration and continuous delivery, without sacrificing security.

    With Delphix, healthcare companies can:

    • Accelerate application releases by provisioning personal data environments for development and testing in minutes. This gives developers self-serve access and control over personal data environments.
    • Facilitate disruptive technologies by securely moving data and applications to the cloud. Enterprises have the ability to quickly provision high-quality data environments for AI/ML, implement value-based care analysis, and healthcare analytics;
    • Protect patient information by automatically identifying PII and PHI. Delphix helps to ensure that sensitive data is masked and meets compliance with HIPAA or other data privacy mandates.

    “As the world quickly shifts toward digital, the healthcare industry is experiencing a profound and wide-sweeping disruption. Our customers have the unique challenge of needing to innovate quickly in order to stay competitive while also managing heavily regulated, sensitive personal information,” said Chris Cook, Delphix CEO. “Delphix for Healthcare goes beyond the baseline needs of security and data management through rapid provisioning and self-service controls that fuel faster, smarter development—enabling organizations to deliver increasingly advanced solutions to their patients.”

    “The combination of Delphix and AWS gives us the agility we need to succeed in today’s application-driven economy. By easily and securely moving data to the cloud, we’re able to release new features to the market faster, while also lowering cost and risk,” said Shan Swaminathan, VP of Application Delivery and DevOps at leading dental benefits company Dentegra in this new eBook entitled, “Real Results: Modernizing Data Delivery and Security for Healthcare.”

  • Top Analyst Firm Releases Groundbreaking New Research Report Highlighting Strong Momentum of DataOps

    90% of respondents in new 451 Research report say they will significantly increase investment in DataOps technologies this year

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif. [February 4, 2019]: Leading research and advisory firm 451 Research today issued a new report on digital transformation strategies for 2019, which reveals enterprises around the globe are planning a significant investment in the ever-growing discipline of DataOps. The report, “DataOps Lays the Foundations for Agility, Security and Transformational Change” found that over the next 12 months, 86% of respondents plan to increase investment in DataOps strategies and platforms, and 92% expect this strategy to have a positive impact on their organization’s success.

    Matt Aslett, Research Vice President, Data, AI and Analytics, 451 Research, defines DataOps as, “The alignment of people, process, and technology to enable more agile and automated approaches to enterprise data management in service of business goals. It aims to provide easier access to enterprise data to meet the demands of various stakeholders who are part of the data supply chain (developers, data scientists, business analysts, DevOps professionals, etc.) in support of a broad range of use cases.”

    In interviews with executives and data experts across banking, financial services, healthcare, retail and other markets, the research firm found nearly all are grappling with the increasing tension between the need to innovate to keep pace with ever-changing consumer demands and global markets, versus the need to comply with new data privacy regulations that vary across geographies. The research indicated that these executives are looking to DataOps strategies as a way to resolve this tension and stay ahead of the competition.

    The report found that these global brands believe DataOps will help navigate compliance and regulatory concerns, accelerate important digital transformation initiatives, and serve as a lever for increasing their competitive advantage in today’s Digital Economy.

    Compliance, Speed Driving Adoption of DataOps

    The report illuminated top data-related challenges these companies are facing, which include:

    • Prohibitively long wait times for exponentially growing volumes of data;
    • Increasing complexities of managing disparate data sources;
    • Slow and risky cloud migrations;
    • Growing security and compliance concerns.

    Compliance and security were notable call-outs in the report, as nearly three-quarters of respondents cited security and compliance as a top perceived benefit of DataOps.  They expect new DataOps technologies to help lessen the growing friction between the need to innovate faster and faster versus the need to comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy regulations.

    Aslett and his team further conclude that there is a real place for DataOps as part of a modern data strategy, “It has become clear that if enterprises are to realize business value from the development and delivery of data-driven applications and data-driven decision making, then more agile and automated approaches to database provisioning and data management are required, approaches that are more responsive to changing business requirements.”

    “Today, every company is a data company and the ability to keep pace with ever-changing customer demands is the key to survival,” said Chris Cook, CEO of Delphix.  “We’re seeing increased demand for DataOps platforms by some of the largest brands in the world as a way to ensure the delivery of fast, secure data to drive continuous innovation and success in the digital economy.”

    “As DataOps continues to mature, enterprises will reap the additional benefits of empowering development teams to overcome data friction and achieve the velocity of innovation demanded by the digital economy. In leveraging the Delphix platform and its full suite of partners including, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, and many more, IT leaders can improve cloud migration, address security concerns, and boost data modernization,” adds Aslett.
